  1. We've seen both of them in 7 on 7....the Chargers lost everybody from last year---didn't really see anybody from last year's squad I remember and they looked young. Recognized more of the Lion players---We like smitty---he's a good one. Since we play both of them, we'll be there. Our boys respect Westview---seems like a classy program and should be a good game.
  2. I'm gonna have to stick up for Greenfield. I looked on the enrollment site and they only have like 160? kids in high school. Kudos to you Greenfield for even fielding a team. I think you guys will get better if your parents will let the coach run the program and do it his way. Keep fighting, you guys will be more competitive in the years to come.
  3. The Rebs will be fine---it's a scrimmage. We have some work to do, but we will get it done. UC is going to have a very good team this year, if that was any indication of how they are going to play. Your defense makes it easy for your offense for sure.
  4. very funny....."deal with it juice"...may steal that one from you
  5. We need a "big" smoke machine too...lol Henry County has it going on with their Train Horn. Better take some Aspirin when you go to one of their games.
  6. My humble apologies...you are correct. It just gets me when I hear someone bashing our boys. They work hard and play clean. Always have----we all watched those games last year and know. I hope this years' game is more "friendly". Good post Big Swo--I will refrain from those sentiments.
  7. I don't know who the Hog is, but that is a good screen name.
  8. I had to do some business today with some Dresden Lion faithful.....they don't know that I have kinfolk who do and have played for our Rebels.....I wanted to "slap" the U know out of one of them. I'm tired of hearing our boys started something with their Coach and that we were stirring it up the unsportsmanship trying to make them look bad. I want a clean game, but do you think Coach C will let them get a "little" more physical with them this year?
  9. Good popcorn at the Stang ranch......and the good old meet and greet with other great fans.
  10. Congrats on the ranking. Good luck this season. You guys were tough last year and we expect the same again this year. Your program has come a long way. I know you guys are a small school, but you guys are a "gritty" school. Good luck to the Bulldogs this season!!
  11. I agree with the games being played with the kids and when you lose, it's never a "good" pill to swallow. I hate to see it turn in to those types of games with the talking too or not showing each other respect (after the game at least). I disagree with Butchie (on a very seldom basis), but this time I do. I wouldn't exactly call it a "rivalry" yet...I believe we are 8-1 in our last 9 meetings. If you beat us this year, then it's a bona fide rivalry. See you Week 3---I'll be on the fence on the West endzone yelling!!
  12. It's hot and we are saving up strength....expecting some good things from our team this year. Ready to watch some "real" Friday night lights action!!!
  13. You never show much in a jamboree...it's a scrimmage for the fans.
  14. I was poking fun at the "excuse" from last year by the Dresden Lions, not you guys. We've heard it, our coaches and players have heard it----we have a clue, because we've been there more than once and actually understand the "whole" system. Good luck this season.
  15. You won't run in to them any time soon...last year was a "down" year for everybody and they had a very above average year. They have gotten better the last 3 years, but don't expect to see them. It will be either: Mckenzie, Adamsville, Humboldt, etc..... I have a feeling their fans are setting up their team for great disappointment--- a lot of angry teams over here. There comes a time when you have to act like you've been there before, whether you win or lose---not brag and make excuses when you don't win. I'm not a fan of the other teams they play, but respect pretty much all of the common opponents (minus Huntingdon- old rivalry). Good luck to your team from your area, the other coachTers on here generally are respectful and fairly humble--don't judge all of us over here. If you ever come to Mckenzie, we'll tail gate before the game--yell at each other during the game---and then shake hands and be friends after the game.
  16. I can see it's starting to get a little testy as we get closer...lol My question for the "Best Public School Football Team in 2A from last year"...are you guys going to do the post game handshake this year after our contest?? My nephew is a current Rebel and this has been a topic of discussion since we were eliminated last year. In all of his years of football, he said this was the most "trash" talking team he'd evered played against----is it going to be the same as last year? I don't agree with the mouthing in football, but he says it's part of the game with some teams. No offense meant to Doyle and Commander, but this is what we've heard since the beat down in the championship last year " Public vs. Private"...from our perspective, we don't really care if you are public, private, or even recruit---we just want to play ya'
  17. I've seen that Wynn kid play too. He is a very good athlete in baseball and basketball too. Memphis?? They do have some very strong baseball programs down there too---a lot of college athletes (D-1) come out of the private school system. Hopefully that's the case here...the public system is known for basketball, for sure
  18. 4 weeks from today....week 0 begins....and then the Big Red Machine will get cranked up shortly there after. I love seeing the grill smoke filling the air and the sweet smell of fall and victory!!
  19. I expect you guys to be tough. We've always enjoyed our matchups...no matter what happens, we have always respected each other--even back in my days. See you down the road my friend..good luck to y'all this season, except when you play us.
  20. I watched that game too, are we talking about the same one at UT Martin (main field)...I didn't see any "cheap" shots from either team, except a "mugging" being put on a tall receiver from Westview by a cornerback. And it was a good one, that tall kid lit us up in our matchup- but didn't even touch the ball in yalls' game. But it's touch football and there are no refs, it was fun as heck to watch that corner go after him---but I didn't see any cheap shots from either team???? We've been playing WV for years, they have been a class team when they beat us (rarely of course) and when they lose ---theyve treated it like another game. Looking forward to Week 0 too----it should be fun to watch you guys go at it.
  21. That young man was an awesome football player. Respectful and talented---a lot of heart. I like seeing those types of players, but even I recognize he was a game changer. Huntingdon will definitely miss him this year, but we won't. That is props to our in county rivals....you won't get them much..lol
  22. I don't know what spring showings you've been too, but we are farther ahead than we were expecting. We were 6-5 last year (which is a fluke)--we have most of the "crew" back, a solid ground game, a good passing game, and we've worked pretty hard on focusing on us....and not telling everybody else about last year. Are we #5 right now...no..but we ain't far behind that....maybe 7 or 8. I can assure you this, we look forward to our match up---more than we are looking forward to the Stangs this year---and that's a first in my lifetime. Butchie is our "president" and just doesn't know it..lol
  23. Ready to get this season going...last year was very unusual with heart ache and disappointment....it's getting closer to re-establishing the dominance we've come to expect!! Go Big Red!!!
  24. Tell em Butchie...the year of the comeback---go big red!
