I think it's about time we move on to this year, last year is in the past and if if's and but's were candy and nuts we all would have had a merry Christmas. Looking forward to see how things shake out with our new skipper and hope the boys buy into his system, thats what it's going to take for any program to be sucessful. Also, the fans need to get behind this man; dis-content spills over and we don't need any of that stuff going on. I'm real excited about the new era coming up and hope I live long enough to enjoy it.

Looks like the Pirates have gained another fan,copied this off a Ga. Board Re: Calhouns DC Is Going To South Pitsburgh Coach Ross coached me a number of years back and I could not be happier for him. I am married and have my own children now and outside of my own father there is no other person who has had a greater impact on me as a husband and father than him. His football coaching ability is off the charts and South Pittsburgh football will be good, heck it will probably be great. One thing I can promise is that the boys in the program will become men and men that your community will be proud of. Thank you Coach Ross for all that you did for my family and all of us here in Douglasville just became huge South Pittsburgh fans.

If he does OP he want have any trouble finding some assitant Coaches

Well Said! I think everyone knows there is more to coaching than X'S AND O'S. kids today have a lot more distractions than the kids of the past. Keeping them focused and out of trouble is one area where I think Vic really excelled in and bringing someone new to the program may be that shot in arm that can help us overcome complacency and bring a new excitement to our program. I think this might be part of Vic's decision to bring in someone new and I for one have full confidence in Vic's choice to hand over the whistle to the right person. I'm really excited about next year and I hope we all band together and get behind this Man.

The 1970 team lost by two to Sweetwater when Kippy Brown and Anthony Oggs played. SP had over 400 yds rushing in that game and held Sweetwater to 150 yds. They lost only that game that year and Sweetwater went on and played in the Championship game. I personally think the 1970 team was one of the best to ever wear the Orange and Black

I believe the stage was set in 1924 not the eighties. If they would have had the play-off format in earlier years that they had in the eighties they would be a lot more than 5 state championships. If memory serves me right they did have a state championship team in 69 also the 64 team would have caked walked to the state championship. They beat the the number 2 team in the state in all classes in the Civitan Bowl at Cookville.

Gourdneck is an extention of Swedon Cove, can't really remember anybody from that holler that played but sure there was one or two.

That ole team I played with had em from Hemlock,The Mountain, Swedon Cove, New Hope, Richard City, Down Town, Kimball, and even one or two from the Gizzard....quess that whats called a diversified group of younguns. Hear tale there was a heap of earholing going on out in Swedon Cove back in the day.

You are an old man OP and ought to know Pirate football didn't start till the ninties.... Some of that old Sue's bunch was a pure sight to behold.

Some thoght the the same about Mr. Beene when he was replaced and we all know how that turned out. I'm glad Vic and the commitee have taken the time to get the best possible person for the job.All you have to do is look up the road and see what hasty decisions can lead to.
