  1. Collinwood will be pretty good. It's going to be a hard district none the less. Does anyone know where the Region 6 tournament is this year?
  2. Perry County Freshman Kenner Haston, the son of Kirk Haston (the #16 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft), had a good debut last night with 20 points against Riverside. These Sophomores and Freshman are going to keep getting better and they had their times last night that showed it might come sooner, rather than later.
  3. Perry County will be pretty good. Cianna Wilson scored 29 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals in their 61-35 win over Riverside last night. Got four good three point shooters, their PG is a player and they have pieces that will come together as they go through the season. Having to play Collinwood and Wayne County will be tough but they have a chance to be the #2 out of District 11 with Wayne County.
  4. That is very true. One of the best games last year was this game when Bruceton and Perry County were trading touchdowns left and right. I hope PC's defense has gotten better but if not and the offense can't get out of it's on way, this could literally be a barn burner.
  5. Just a FYI, the Perry County Junior Pro Minors (9U), are (8-0) and are outscoring opponents 344 to 24. Here's the Schedule Won @ Lewisburg- 30-0 Won vs. Mt. Pleasant- 26-6 Won vs. East Hickman- 44-12 Won @ Hickman County- 50-0 Won vs. Lewis County- 56-0 Won vs. Fairview- 36-0 Won @ White Bluff- 32-6 Won @ Charlotte- 70-0 The future is very bright in Perry County if this group of guys can continue getting better. This group reminds me a lot of the Jacob Tucker group from 2008-2011.
  6. The Vikings (3-6, 0-4 R6-1A) are looking to win more than 3 games for the first time since 2011. They are already out of the playoffs, but this would be a big positive for this team to win more games than any team since Jacob Tucker was around. Bruceton has lost 9 in a row, but this team is a lot better than their record. This should be a good game. Last year, it was a basketball game. I think Bruceton won 56-43 or something to that effect. Perry County will have to establish the run game and win the time of possession. If they do that I believe they will get it done but last week against Middleton, penalties hurt. 12 for 120 yards. Penalties are the biggest thing for this team to be successful. It's never easy for PC. Going (4-6) would mean a lot to this program as they continue to build, last week they won more than one game at home for the first time since 2013 when they went (3-2). That's how down this program was but coach Calvin Zemer is finally getting kids with football IQ and kids that want to work and win. Bruceton is young but they are still very potent and this game could go either way. The Tigers will give the Vikings fits on offense and the Vikings defense need to step up.
  7. Perry County and Indiana legend, as well as the #16 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft Kirk Haston has a son who is in high school this year. His second youngest is in 7th grade. There are some talent coming up in Perry County but they got to continue to develop and continue to get better. There's alot of potential.
  8. Region Standings 1. McKenzie (7-1, 4-0) 2. West Carroll (5-1, 4-0) 3. Houston County (3-5, 2-2) 4. McEwen (1-6, 0-2) 5. Perry County (2-5, 0-3) 6. Bruceton (1-7, 0-3) This Week's Games Perry County @ McEwen West Carroll @ Camden McKenzie, Houston County, and Bruceton have bye's
  9. Region Standings 1.) McKenzie (6-1, 3-0) 2.) West Carroll (4-1, 3-0) 3.) Houston County (3-4, 2-1) 4.) McEwen (1-5, 0-2) 5.) Bruceton (1-6, 0-2) 6.) Perry County (2-5, 0-3) McEwen, Bruceton and Perry County have yet to play. Houston County still has to play McEwen and Bruceton. West Carroll still has to play Bruceton and McKenzie. On Friday the 13th, that game in McEwen is going to be huge with Perry County and McEwen. that game puts the winner in the drivers seat for the #4 seed.
  10. After seeing us play yall and McEwen play yall, can PC beat McEwen? The biggest problem with PC is the penalties. Not necessarily turnovers even though they average one a game, but if their offense doesn't hold or false start, does anyone think they could win out against McEwen on the road, Middleton at home and Bruceton on the road to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011?
  11. There's alot of great programs in the state. It's hard to compete in a lot of them. Even though PC football is 26 years old, it's still a fairley young program. Hopefully the best of times are still ahead. We had great seasons from 2008 to 2011 and even some really good years in the 2000's. But hopefully it'll change soon.
  12. Any way, that's besides the point, McKenzie is a great team and PC will play their best but it's going to take a miracle (just from what I'm hearing around). One thing about PC though, they have help coming. Junior Pro teams play Fairview, Mt. Pleasant (and columbia), Lewisburg, Dickson teams (Charlotte and White Bluff) and Lewis County. Our 10U is (5-0) and outscoring opponents 310 to 18. 12U are (2-3) and most have never played even at 10 and 11 years old. But the Minors and Pee-Wees coming up have played for 5 years and know what they are doing. The Majors will play in Middle School and will help the high school in a few years. The crop coming up from middle school now are going to help a ton next year. This team this year still has a chance to make the playoffs. They got to beat McEwen and Bruceton and of course both of them are on the road.
  13. Right, I'm just saying that it is possible to live in another county, town, etc and still be able to go to school elsewhere. Plus more kids to choose from and since all the towns have their own "districts" or "zones" I guarantee there is more kids in that square mile radius then where we're from. Perry County is a retirement destination. There are 10 times more older people here then younger couples.
  14. I have always heard clarksburg kids play at Huntingdon but that’s hear say. I know that’s what they do in Columbia with Culleoka and Santa Fe and Hampshire. They go to Columbia and Mt pleasant but either way I wasn’t sure. But kids can move around, there are more to choose from then in Perry County.
  15. My point is, kids in the same county can play at different schools if they choose. Perry county can’t have that. Only one high school. Tiptonville and lake county are on the border of Kentucky and Missouri, they could bring kids in. Linden is literally 30 minutes from anything. Not looking for sympathy, just being real. Kids in Huntingdon could play at McKenzie and McKenzie kids could play at west Carroll. When you’re in the same county kids can go wherever they want.
  16. A few notes for context Population Difference McKenzie- 5,456 Linden and Lobelville combined- 2,000 (mostly retired people) County Difference Carroll County- 28,432 Perry County- 8,472 High Schools in the County with Enrollment Bruceton- 178 Huntingdon and Clarksburg join for Football- 480 (combined both high schools McKenzie- 376 West Carroll- 263 Combined kids in high school in Carroll County (1,401) Perry County- 300 (Only high school)
  17. Gleason has been averaging very good numbers and everyone thought they could come into Linden and have a easy stroll. Yes, McKenzie has the talent, McKenzie has more kids in their area then Perry County has in the entire county. We don't have a tradition in football like most in our Region. We are still building after the Jacob Tucker years that set us back because we didn't have a junior pro program (we have it back and they are dominating bigger schools) Middle School has won more games this year then they have in a few years. Should yall win? Sure, if we had talent like yall then yes I would be confident but no reason to say "pick the score" or "No contest. People said the same about the Greenfield game (won 34-7) and the Gleason game (lost 14-6). PC will do everything they can to compete. It's not our fault we only have about 1,000 kids combined in K-8 Lobelville school, Linden Elementary, Linden Middle and PCHS. Carroll and Weakley Counties have bigger populations and better traditions. Honestly, you guys shouldn't be 1A, this should be for the smallest schools in the state and McKenzie isn't small by no means. Have a good game, and play with humbleness and compassion because if you don't you may get hit in the mouth by a team you over look. Just my two cents.
  18. Perry County does as well. We may be a county school but with only 8,000 people living in the county as a whole, it's tough to produce talent year after year. We are one of the biggest counties in the state but one of the least populated with only one high school. Atleast, RBS is in Macon County where there is another high school and more kids to choose from.
  19. Well this thread really never flourished. I just wanted to see how Perry County would fair against Red Boiling Springs. Obviously it's not a big eye-opening game, it's not a region game, but it is a game that could help the Vikings win back-to-back games for the first time since 2014. RBS is a much improved program and it's going to be tough for the Vikings to come on their turf and come away with a win.
  20. A lot of great players and football towns in west tennessee, bad thing is, Perry County has to drive 45 minutes to anywhere really. We're a county of 8,000 people strong. Most counties have double the population than we do.
  21. The Tennessee River (or Kentucky Lake) is the cutoff from west to middle. Look at the map in the link below. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Study-area-showing-all-95-Tennessee-counties-with-white-lines-representing-the-three_fig1_341488905
  22. PC will be getting one of their better younger players back this week as well. Should help the defense and special teams, but it's going to be tough against this RBS team. They look big and physical, even though PC is coming on a charter, they better not get too comfortable, the Bulldogs aren't as bad as some may think.
  23. Well we’re still middle Tennessee. We’re right on the river. Main reason is because of funding as well as our love for basketball here. We had it in the 60’s then in 1972 we shut it down completely due to funding and they were able to get it back in 97
  24. For the first time since a home-and-home matchup in 1999 and 2000, the Perry County Vikings take on the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs up in Macon County. Without traffic, it is 2 hours and 45 minutes from downtown Linden to Red Boiling Springs. I believe the Vikings are leaving around 10:00 A.M. and eating in Nashville or something like that. Either way, I know nothing about this Bulldogs team. I know they are kind of like PC when it comes to not having a "winning" tradition but this years team is looking like the team from 2016 when they won 6 games. Thoughts, Comments, Smart Remarks?
