13th straight year with zero playoffs for Perry County. Middle School had their best year since 2008, going (6-2). They have four players that are playing in that All-Star game at West Carroll on November 2nd. Seems like the future has some good players coming. However, it is hard to see these guys out of playoff contention with two games that they should win up on the schedule.

Looks like spot 2 and 3 still up for grabs. I didn’t realize McEwen still has 3 region games to go. That week 10 game vs HC will most likely be for 2nd and 3rd.
Looks like WC will be 4th.Let's say PC beats McEwen this week and beats Bruceton Week 10. That puts McEwen and PC (if McEwen loses to HC) at (2-3). Now, when theres a tie breaker do they flip a coin or do they go by who won between the two?

Late to the party this week but...
Last Week..
McKenzie beats Perry
Houston beats HRB
McEwen beats West Carroll
This week...
McKenzie @ Houston - McKenzie wins they remain Region Champs and Houston has to beat McEwen for 2nd. Houston pulls what might be considered the biggest upset in 1a and they have a chance to be region champs in who knows how long.
West Carroll @ HRB - from the sound of things WC has lost several key players that will impact this one.
McEwen host Waverly - cross county rivalry that should go to McEwen this year, but you never know with those types of rivalry games.
Perry Co has the bye.
Let's say, hypothetically that PC beats McEwen at home next week. That puts PC at 1-3 and let's say they finish 2-3 (if they can beat Bruceton at home), can they make the playoffs? I don't know how the tie breakers go or anything

One of the best rivalries in the state just got amped up a little bit more. Last week it was announced that Grayson Burleson had transferred from the blue and white to the black and gold so that he can play basketball. Without getting into why the transfer happened, I am sure Eagles fans everywhere will be unhappy with the Mustangs. As an Eagles fan myself, how do you cheer for a really good guy when he now plays for the biggest rival in you schools history?
I would say Linden/Perry County is a close second on that list. Of course since Summertown went 2A their hasn't really been much of a rivalry but the last few times they played in Linden it has been some good games.

McKenzie population- 5600 and has been between 5250-5600 for the last 35 years.
Perry Co population- 8600Maybe its not the size of the town or county but the support of a program from youth leagues through high school.
And McKenzie has had a program for a long time, Perry County is still and always will be a Basketball school. Either way, the town is over half of our whole counties population. Not trying to argue that’s why I said y’all are blessed. We’ve only had a program for 27 years. Had ZERO junior pro for ten years and it just got back going in 2020. So it’s going in the right direction but these kids we have has only played for maybe 4 or 5 years tops. Not their fault.

The only thing I hope happens is that the Vikings play hard and don't get hurt. This McKenzie team is HUGE and I'm sorry just doesn't look like a 1A team but they are and it can only make our team better. They are blessed. Got more people in their town then PC does in the whole county (8,000)

Both are practically two of the worst teams in the state historically.
I don’t know much about Perry County but Red Boiling Springs is a bad football team.
They did have some relative success last year but by them getting beat by MJCA who is really bad I would think you should be okay.
Thanks for the info. As long as we play like we should I think we’ll be ok. The game has been moved to Saturday now.

Jax Co beat RBS 35-0 so anything is possible.
Don't know enough about Jackson County to really figure it out but from what I have heard, they fly to the ball on defense and spread you out on offense. It's going to be messy and wet all night Friday and the Vikings love to run the ball. We will see if PC's offense can stay effective as they have scored 87 points and totaled 702 yards in the past two games.

He was a trash taker years ago on the T network, said he would stop Marco Daily in 2006. MP put 68 points on him in that year. He never was close to 12 all night long
Ole Marco Dailey was one of the best athletes I ever got the pleasure of seeing play. The Viking broadcast guys were talking about him the other night against West Carroll and talked about how this kid from West Carroll plays just like him.

This was a long drive last year for us and it was back and forth but RBS won 42-21. They lost their QB from last year but they have his brother. Can the Vikings win their second in a row before heading to McKenzie next week? This is Homecoming so you know the distractions will be there. I don't know much about Red Boiling Springs besides what I saw last year. They love to throw the ball and spread out the defense similar to Stewart County. This would be huge going into the bye week with atleast 2 wins and playing McEwen (home), Middleton (away), and Bruceton (home) after October 11th bye. Thoughts? Comments? Smart remarks?

Yeah, they hit us for one deep and the kid made a great catch. I like what they do on offense. It is pretty much, "Here we come. Stop it if you can." Old school, smash mouth.
Yeah, the offense didn't really come to fruition until West Carroll. Something about that game seemed to jolt this team and as long as they don't play another Milton, they have a real shot at this. The O-Line looked great against WC and besides the interception at the end and a fumble early, they didn't turn it over and only had 6 penalties for 50 yds, one was a horse collar at the end, then three false starts, two holds, so nothing terrible. They are experienced and I like the future too. They will have two choices at QB next year with two very capable freshman and they have a running back averaging around 102 yards a game in six games. But this year, this team wants to win and as long as they can take care of business and be (2-4) going into the McKenzie game on October 4th, I think they have a shot. However, it won't be easy, it's going to be gut check time against McEwen and HRBC.

This week gonna say...
McKenzie by running clock at halftime
HC and WC will be a good game, but judging by the Perry game HC should have the edge and stops Milton enough to get the job done.
McEwen and Wayne battle in the most physical game of the week and McEwen wins by 6 points or less.
HRB upsets Collinwood in a high scoring shootout.
Perry takes the confidence gained from hanging with WC all game and completely annihilates Stewart Co. to get their first win.
The thing with Perry County is that they get in a hole early and then have to fight their way out of it. Against Greenfield, Got down 7-0 but scored 10 straight before the Jackets scored a touchdown with two minutes left. At Gleason, down 22-8 at the half, lose 22-15. Houston County, too many penalties and turnovers in that rain soaked game. Then against West Carroll, they get down 20-0 and start their comeback and got the lead twice 29-28 and 43-42 before losing 50-43. If Perry County can stop getting in a hole early, they have a chance to be the #4 team in the Region especially with McEwen and Bruceton coming to Linden where, for the first time in a while, they play a lot better then on the road.

Region Standings after Week 2
McKenzie - 2-0 Defeat Dresden
West Carroll - 2-0 Defeat Harding Academy
McEwen - 2-0 Defeat Hickman Co
Houston Co - 1-1 Loss East Robertson
Hollow Rock-Bruceton - 1-1 Loss Camden
Perry Co - 0-2 Loss Gleason
This Week - includes first region matchup of the season
McKenzie host Chester Co
West Carrol host FACS
McEwen host Graves Co (Ky)
Houston Co host Perry Co
Hollow Rock-Bruceton host Gleason
Going to be a tough game for PC. Houston County is very tough and physical. They have some speed in the running game. PC will have to be able to get to the outside on defense and offensively, wear down this Irish defense. Make them have to play 8 to 10 plays at a time. If they can do that then they will give them a run for their money. Just can’t give up big chunk plays

That’s the thing with PC offense… they aren’t flashy by any means but they will bleed that clock and tire you out by the end of the game … you’ve got to have a great defense playing like that . Sounds like y’all have a decent defense.
Seems to be a lot better than last year. Of course not many teams from Middle Tennessee pass much but our DB's are freshman and have done a good job so far. We have a bunch of tough nosed kids and they want to be the first team since 2011 to make the playoffs. They are very hungry. It's just tough when you have one game where penalties kill you and the next it's turnovers.

I saw perry county played yall pretty tough … what did you think of them ? I thought yall would beat them by 3 scores
Perry County got down 22-7 at the half. But the Viking defense stood strong and gave up a 0 in the second half. Offense had 312 yards of offense on 60 plays compared to Gleason's 38 plays and 252 total yards. However, the Vikings had the turnover bug with four and a bad INT at the end of the game to seal it. The Vikings didn't let #24 Byington beat them in the second half, they doubled teamed him and their quarterback struggled with his throw all night, throwing it high. However, this Gleason team has playmakers and the Vikings do have some Seniors but their secondary are all freshman but in the second half they didn't play like freshman. They grew up last night.

That’s a lot of Touchdowns called back.. Gleason has a better team than Greenfield ,I can tell you that .
I watched film on them. They aren’t bad but greenfield seems better defensively. But PC’s offense just couldn’t get out of their way with penalties. It may be a long year for PC if they can’t things going

agree with most of what you said .. except Gleason is going to smoke Perry County .
Perry County should have beaten Greenfield by atleast two touchdowns but PC had 5 (five!) TD's called back due to supposed holds and block in the backs. Thirteen penalties and two turnovers won't help but if PC can continue to make turnovers (3 INT's, Turnover on Downs) they should have a chance. We will see.

I think PC has the potential to break into the top 4 in this region to be honest with you. Not sure what your non-region games look like. But from the region, I think yall can beat HRB and WC - or at least play them close.
Turnovers and penalties hurt us against West Carroll and Bruceton but we beat Bruceton in the season finale and it was a one score game at the half with WC before they took advantage. People are already saying Greenfield will beat them even though PC beat Greenfield 34-7 last season on the road. PC has depth and some athletes. Really looking forward to our 8th grade running back coming up next season (he’s averaging 150 a game the first two games) however, they have four running backs and a good line so we will see.

Y’all definitely have some size too of what i’ve seen from them .
Also we have depth that I had no idea about. Our coach has done a good job of subbing different players and getting them rest,

One thing about Perry County is the fact that they have skill players and some speed, but do they have enough? New QB but he got a lot of snaps last season and can sling it, however, with this run offense that PC loves to run, can the big men up front stay healthy and continue to get better? Defensively they're not bad but got to find some sort of rhythm offensively. On the plus side, the reigning Region 6-1A Kicker of the Year (Marcos Woo) is a Junior and looks better then last year.

Decatur County wasn't a bad team last year. I don't know what they lost but looks like a good win. Wayne County is a good team but looks like Perry County is pretty good too. If y'all indeed are the number 2 team in District it may set up a Region Semi with Mckenzie that would be a dogfight.
Collinwood will be pretty good. It's going to be a hard district none the less. Does anyone know where the Region 6 tournament is this year?

Perry County Freshman Kenner Haston, the son of Kirk Haston (the #16 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft), had a good debut last night with 20 points against Riverside. These Sophomores and Freshman are going to keep getting better and they had their times last night that showed it might come sooner, rather than later.
-
Perry County will be pretty good. Cianna Wilson scored 29 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals in their 61-35 win over Riverside last night. Got four good three point shooters, their PG is a player and they have pieces that will come together as they go through the season. Having to play Collinwood and Wayne County will be tough but they have a chance to be the #2 out of District 11 with Wayne County.

With Houston County going back up to 2A in Football next season, Region 6 will probably just be a 5 team league wouldn't you think?
