  1. I tend to agree with you about unlimited weight. But, what I heard is that some teams would rather drive to Knoxville (thirty minute drive, an hour before game, 50 minute game with continuous game clock, thirty minutes home) than play some of the weaker teams in Blount County who end up quitting at half time (ultimately a 30 minute awful game). I can see both sides and I don't know the answer....just reporting a complaint I heard.
  2. Since Im pretty new to all this stuff, I've been sitting on the sidelines. However, does anyone know how these officials get playoff/state game assignments? Is it strictly by district and then the district awards the individual ref? It seems that some sort of grading system should be in place.
  3. I understand now that the Alcoa sweep is nice too and it occurred at every level this year.
  4. I was implying that all these "youth" groups have finished their seasons as champions. The MHS varsity hasn't finished yet. Am I missing something?
  5. I went to the championship grasshopper game tonight (and froze), Lil Rebs vs Alcoa. Lil Rebs won 20-6. Looks like a clean sweep for the red and black, from grasshoppers to 9th grade. Has this ever happen before?
  6. I understand that Southerners have trouble in the rain. With the current forecast, Raiders 14 - 7.
  7. How big are Bearden's visitor stands and what time to gates open?
  8. I know it's a 7pm start, but what time do the gates open? The football field is not at the school's campus, is it?
  9. Sorry to be so long, but I have to work during the day many times. I moved here recently and have become interested in MHS football tradition. I work with a couple of Rebel fans. I decided to attend the youth game because a coworker had a son playing and I heard it would be a good game. I am amazed at the passion, pro and con, in Maryville football. I jumped into the discussion because I didn't see the youth game as some on here must have seen it. That's all.
  10. I can't figure out if strongx is really a Rebel Fan or not. It seems he just wants to dog anything Rebel related... from youth football to MHS. He once mentioned the glasses he looks through. Hard to figure out the color of the glasses he wears. Maybe he rotates those glasses depending on his agenda. I could be wrong, of course.
  11. So I guess accordingly, Alcoa must of played a whale of a second half. I missed that somewhere. I'll try to watch a little closer next time I go watch the youth play.
  12. I'm new to this board, but was at the game last night. I've decided I must have been watching a different game than you were. I didn't see #30 or #8 for Maryville carry the ball after the first few minutes of the third quarter. Early in the third, At lease on offense, I don't know what linemen were in the game for the Maryville team, but the running backs were very small and it wasn't #30 or #8. Maryville only scored 6 points in the second half, so either Alcoa got a lot better in the second half or Maryville didn't have all their starters in the game. (I've found out pretty quick about reading CoachT that I can't believe what I read in lots of cases)
