  1. Simply excuses of the pull your program downs to ours so we can compete, instead of raise my program up to yours mentality. Why we have 9 diffrent state championships in football and some folks are still not happy
  2. Just think what PC would be if the private schools around Nashville didn't poach some of thier top players yearly. They would be another Alcoa. Alot of folks don't realize how many great metro athletes get grabbed by the various private schools in the area.
  3. Sounds like a pretty equal matched games minus the East turnovers
  4. Macon played right with UHS, twice, beat down a good Red Bank team.....not going out on a limb to say they would be favored against Marshall County.
  5. It's over capacity I think, top 10 biggest hs in the state
  6. Doing some watching and score comparisons, which can be tricky, I have made a few observations. UHS tried to beef up the schedule but some unfortunate things happened. Cookeville refused to play them. Lebanon was a little down this year. Fayetteville didn't have the team they had the last couple years. Whitehouse is not the 90s Whitehouse. The 4a region UHS plays in is top to bottom is better than the one PC plays in, in my ooinion. That being said, said Macon is as good or better than anyone on the PC's regular season schedule excluding CPA. MBA didn't have one of thier better teams this year by far. Whitehouse is not what they were back in thier hayday. Playing Greeneville and Macon twice, are two of the top 4-8 teams in 4a. Fayetteville has 1 maybe two legit d-1 players. Those two Boarders twins at Macon could play anywhere. As far as size, Smith County the last two seasons is as big as anyone in the state on the OL abd DL. I think the problem PC poses, they have big kids like Smith Co. Pc has kids fast like the Boarder twins and those few at Fayetteville and Lebanon, and has some WRs like Greeneville. But all combined on one team. If UHS starts slow, or has that one quarter they meltdown in, it's over. If they come out like they did vs Stone and Lebanon.....and can keep it up, it will be a ball game. I beleave this UHS team is better than the team that pushed Alcoa to the wire in the semi's a few years ago. Beat a Greenville team who was tied with Alcoa at the half, and yes I know Alcoa was driving. I think if you switched the names to Alcoa, Greeneville, Anderson, or Elizabethton vs PC....the narrative would be diffrent. I get it, UHS is the new kid at the big dance. I just keep thinking it will be way closer than most are thinking it will be.
  7. You are correct, totally diffrent teams, but it's more of a feel thing. The us against the world
  8. I think eventually this will be a mute point when Cookeville builds its next HS down by Prescott. It will split the enrollment between the 2 Cookeville schools and likely put both of the Cookeville schools in a region with Upperman, Livingston, Sparta, Crossville, and Stone.
  9. Not as big a diffrence as you think. The 2020-2021 3a champions Macon blew out the 4a champions in the regular season, Blackman. Those 2017-2021 Macon and Upperman teams were better than any of the bigger classification teams in the Cookeville district by far. It's changes year to year.
  10. That's laughable. Just like it did in football, CHS would lose the majority of games if it played UHS in hoops in both boys and girls. Not every time, but the majority of time.
  11. Been that way for years I think. It's "if" they have space type deal. Bus zoned students get the priority for the school they are zoned for. But if they have extra capacity after the zoned students, and you are willing to provide your kids transportation, you can go to any in county school.
  12. This game between Upperman and Pearl Cohn reminds me of 2005. In 2005, Livingston Academy had finished the season 5-5 losing 4 games by a total of like 15 points. They slipped in the playoffs. Made a magical run to make the state championship. They were told David Lipscomb was to good. They were told David Lipscomp had better athletes. They were told David Lipscomp had played better teams. But something about that Hogeye team was special. Like it was destiny. I get that feel with Upperman. Sometimes, I think it's your time. Maybe it's just me, and none of that destiny stuff matters. But I am old school, and I think it just might matter.
  13. Fanning said with open enrollment in the district, the wide variety of successful sports is attracting more incoming freshmen than ever. “Just continue to build those programs and continue to work together to where we can develop the student-athletes that want to be a part of our programs and as long as we keep this success, we’re going to continue to get student-athletes to come into our school,” Fanning said.
  14. What's some stats for the top players at PC. Seen this on another site Sophomore season Bronzden chaffin Upperman highschool Dual threat Qb 6’4 215lbs States: Passing-1307 yards/13 tds Rushing-1062 yards/13 tds 14-0 as a starter Junior Ethan Palk 1552 rushing 14tds Junior Branson Turnbow 532 receiving 9tds
  15. Very true. Daddy ball has ruined many programs. It's very bad in rual programs where everyone knows everyone. Cookeville is the one big program that is does happen. West Putnam County has new people moving and out so daddy ball, the bankers son, doesn't come into play. Baseball and Basketball set the the standard, football was late to gain traction. But the athletes have always been in that area.
  16. Just curious, if Greeneville were playing PC, would there be as many folks thinking PC wins the gold ball?
  17. 2 things that surprise me looking at each rooster via another website. 1. How big PC is. Lots of size on the trenches. Makes the tean speed even more effective. More size than I remember them having in the past. 2. How young UHS is. QB, RB, top 2 WR, the LB group and most of the lineman are all coming back. That sophomore group is absolutely loaded.
  18. The video UCR did about the semi final game is a much watch. Watch until the end. https://fb.watch/ozNvWVZzgm/?mibextid=Nif5oz

  20. I think this is a one touchdown game. If it's a track meet type high scoring game, advantage PC. If it becomes an ugly game, field position low scoring, UHS advantage. For UHS to win, absolutely can't have turnovers. Teams are so diffrent in style, the team who controls that style wins.
  21. UHS went to the 2a semis in 1996....so days struggling to get 1a wins are 25+ years ago . At one time, Spring Hill was a small rual school. Now look at that area. Progress happens. It's not like UHS went from 350 students to 890 in 2 years. It was over a thirty year span. They won 2 baseball championships in the 90s, played in several 80s. But until the mid 90s, seemed only basketball and baseball was a priority. Some lean years jumping g from 1a to 2a, and from 2a to 3a. Since 2013, football has been a focal point of the community snd school.
