  1. I might be way off the number of $$$ but not way off that it happened. My point is schools have diffrent advantages for diffrent reasons. Enrollment is about the only way you can classify them. Can't quantify so called advantages and disadvantages into what class a schools plays in as long as they do it by the rules.
  2. When I played, 3 classes. Straight off enrollments. No privates, just straight numbers. Had to win your district to make the playoffs, the rest of the teams with winning records played in bowl games. Now we have jumped from 3 classes to 9 classes, separated the private and magnet school from the public schools, and allow 4 teams from each district into the playoffs. I don't know how much more we can chop it up to get folks from getting thier feelings hurt. It's water down about as much as it can be.
  3. I see. White is growing, just like Putnam....won't stay 4a for long if they get moved.
  4. So every school wether it has an enrollment of 100 or 1200......if in an open enrollment county...... which is about 80% of the counties, and say a city within that county is larger than say 15k, we bump them up to play 6a football. A quick example of Blount Co, Lincoln Co, Robertson Co, Sumner Co, Davidson Co: So East Robinson, Greenback, Greenbrier, East Nashville, Pearl Cohn, Eagleville, Fayetteville , Jo Byrns, Westmoreland "every school in Sumner",Portland, Whitehouse, Greenbrier, Watertown, Monterey, Upperman all need to play 6a football and 4a in everything else with Oakland and Riverdale? All so the folks in say Clay County don't fell like they are at such a disadvantage. Seems sorta like a bad system to me.
  5. I think your saying all open enrollment schools play 6a football? You do realize York and RBS are in open enrollment counties just like UHS. East Robertson is open enrollment......close to big Springfield. We need to bump them up to 6a? I am not seeing the logic.
  6. 40 years is 1959 to 1999 Playoffs: UHS 4 Macon 6 LA 10 Dekalb 4
  7. Open enrollment in Putnam County has existed forever. We'll before 2013
  8. If you look deeper into....Actually CHS dominates the dollars in the county. Big football stadium with a big workout facility. Newly installed turf field. UHS plays ball in a goat pasture with harldy any seating. Field house so small locals say the do off-season training program in the parking lot. I do feel they have the best coaching staff in the area by far and keep the local politics out of the program. Most schools don't do that.
  9. 9 years ago in 2013 UHS went 13-1 in football and to the Simi finals. Also went to the semis in 1996. 80's and 90's UHS was going to and winning baseball state championship ships. Long history in the system of some pretty good sports teams.
  10. I agree it's an advantage. But also the demographics of say a Trousdale compared to say Jackson County might be viewed as a huge advantage for Yellow Jackets. Or the ability for say a Macon to raise 20k from the big Tabbaco money to pay a top coach to come in, but maybe a Cannon County doesn't have thst option. Like I said....we have 9 divisions in Football....how many more do we need to make sure no ones feelings get hurt on other schools advantages?
  11. And your solution is? No diffrent than Alcoa and Maryville dominating Blount County for athletes. Or Oakland dominating Rutherford County. The better the culture and program, the more kids find a way to be part of that program. You build it, the talent will show up.
  12. I would say that true for most fan bases actually. I been around alotbof clueless fans from alot of siffrent teams. The ones that kill me are the , every play is a penalty on the other team, crowd.
  13. In years past Macon had more total players on the team at smaller enrollment numbers. And seems like more size in the line like the 2003 year. It's part of the coaching staff job to get players out. Gary Ranking then Maynard both had 75 or more kids dressed at Smith Country and a school enrollment of around 530. We already have 9 state champions. Same as California, but with 1/12th the population. I mean we can say let's have 4a-1 schools with enrollment 830-1125 that reside near a city less than 10k, 4a-2 schools with enrollment 830-1125 but are close to a city above 10k. We chopped it up enough times to make it as fair as it can be. What else can ya do? At some point you got to stop the excuses and play ball. There will always be the haves and the have nots.
  14. Macon needs more size and depth. 45 players is not alot for a 4a team. Around 60 is the average for the better teams. Got to be more big country boys up there. #7 is quick given space. #2 ,for UHS surprised me with his speed leaving gets behind on his long run.
  15. #2, #62, #66, #9..... most every one of those kids played for UHS since the Stingers.
  16. Surprised at this score. UHS was much more bigger and physical than the Tigers.
