  1. can middle schoolers wrestle in the high school division for the tune up torney?
  2. Everybody wants to kick the guy in the butt who is carrying the mail. Why is this? You have a coach who is obviously passionate about his program. A coach who wants to be there for his kids and for his parents and what does he get for it? ridicule from people who dont have a clue about coach Bray as a person or as a coach. Its a shame really. These are the exact same reasons that its difficult to get people involved with tennessee wrestling when we need them. Anyone who has carried the mail before knows what I'm talking about. So little appreciation( by some) for our coaches and assistents and volunteers of our communities. Coach Bray cares about his kids, cares about his parents and cares about his community. I can say that i have been fortunate enough to have been able to spend time with coach Bray and while my son doesnt wrestle for Blackman, He has had the privelage of being coached and trained by Bray in the past and I can honestly say that I know that the good folks up there in the Boro appreciate what they have and will stand behind him because thats what he does for their children.
  3. I have had the good fortune to spend some time with young Mr. Cyree and i can honestly say that i promise you Devan has no concern with making a dream team or any other team that is not determined by pure personal accomplishment. [ i.e. state title ] . Devan is a hard working, well mannered young man who doesnt say much at all about anything. anyone who knows him..... knows exactly what im talking about. I respect the opinion of others but it is a little crazy to put together a "dream team" without bringing your best man at each weight. absolutely no disrespect to the other wrestlers involved as every individual has their own story and every one of these kids deserve credit for having the courage to work at the hardest sport known to man. However, the fact is: Devan is the best guy at 106 period. There is alot of conversation on coach T. about representing the state of tennessee and comparing us to the rest of the wrestling country. Why not take the state winners to represent? Just a thought and an opinion. Also, I find it hard to compare individual football accomplishments with wrestling. For sure apples to oranges. I believe cyree [ at 113] has pinned the #2 through #6 ranked individuals in the state and did so in the first period. I also believe he weighs 108. My prediction is the Devan will pin his way through the state tourney.
  4. Im a democrat. you do not have to be a republican just because you live in tennessee. its america and its ok. If my son was in high school, i would do everything i could to get matches with tate robinson or brandon brunner. thats how you get better. I guess if you have the mindset that after high school, your wrestling career is over, one might try to run or hide behind excuses but what are you teaching your kids? maybe its just me but i thought the mindset was wrestle anyone you can everytime you are able to. If there are any coaches or parents out there reading these posts that have young wrestlers: I suggest you expose them to the national scene early on. I believe it will put a little perspective on things for you. its pretty cool cruising down the bracket and seeing states and not schools. check it out.
  5. RED or blue? private or public? D1 or D2? what does it matter? The one and only thingthat matters is: whoever works the hardest wins. To sit around and ponder and worry about baylor or any other school having an advantage is obsurd. It sounds like you are wasting time when you could be working out. I promise there are more college all americans that didnt grow up with a silver spoon or that did not attend a private school than you can shake a stick at. GUARANTEED. We are who we choose to be. Everyone has an idea on what path they should take in order to be successful. Wrestling just happens to be the toughest path of all. It doesnt matter what school you attend or what part of the country you live in or even how much money you have. Its all about hard work. Everything else is an excuse and we all know that excuses are for the weak minded. Whether its at the elementary level or high school or college levels, everyone of us feels that sense of pride when one of our tennessee wrestlers wins or even places at the national level and thats because we are all in this together. We all want to see the growth of the sport reguardless of what color our singlet is. Lets face it. We are one great big family. A family I'm very proud to be a part of. We all respect each others sons because we know at the end of the day, they have tons of courage and pride for doing what they do. Keep your mouth closed, work hard, always move forward and make no excuses. Thats wrestling. Thats life.
