  1. Probably because Fulton is considered the home team, an the home team is always listed second
  2. If you wouldnt feel disrespected than I don't know what to say to you sir. But it is disrespectful and could easily cause a fight...Miami and Fl st in college comes to mind. Terrell Owens (when he was a niner) and the Dallas star for example. As an athlete your field is your house and you are taught and have the mind set that "you must protect this house". I have respect for the fulton coaches in being able to control the players emotions, but no respect for the greeneville coaches for allowing this to happen.
  3. Giles will take on offense whatever the defense gives them. If they take away the pass giles will run if they take the run Giles will pass. Their yardage for the season is almost exactly 50-50 run to pass. I don't think a one dimensional team can beat Giles, they are too good on the defensive side.
  4. Don't know your point here with the who beat who by how much rhetoric. I mean CPA beat only beat east nashville by 24 but Pearl Cohn beat east nashville by 28. CPA beat Giles by 28 so by your logic Pearl should have spanked Giles, however Giles beat Pearl at Pearl by 16. Keep in mind that Giles is a different team now than they were when they played CPA. It was early in the season and the coaching staff had only been together a couple months. The starting defense has only given up 10 points in the playoffs and 7 of those came after a 12 yard punt gave white house the ball on the giles 15 yard line.
  5. well goblue, I tried to warn you, I showed you the stats, wanted you prepared for what was coming but you just wouldn't listen....but you support your team and I don't blame you. Congrats to WH on a good season, your team never quit despite the score and you played with heart and character of a champion but sometimes you are just outmatched. Congrats again on the season and good luck next year.
  6. The team has left the high school....won't be long now Without using stats cause people think they are meaningless, and for any one game I will concede that they are if you concede that over time they trend towards their average. Anyway, I think for White House to have a legitimate chance to win tonight they are going to have to run the ball effectively and keep the clock running. If they fall behind and can't run and resort to the pass then it is GAME OVER!!!
  7. Is Houston a certain to go tonight? I could see them playing him at linebacker but not chancing it with him carrying the rock. At least until they get a feel got how he is doing. They have to many weapons on offense to risk him getting a serious injury....win or lose
  8. I have never read where anybody has bragged about TO ratio. But if you must know. GC has committed 16 turnovers, 8 ints and 8 lost fumbles. They have forced 30 turnovers, 20 ints and 10 fumble recoveries. They have a +14 TO margin.
  9. According to the Toyota All-Star game twitter account (handle is @tnallstar) The roster selections have been made and rosters will be released as soon as they have player confirmation. That was posted last week on Nov 14.
  10. 1997 it was won by Kendall Moorehead out of Melrose (3A at the time)
  11. Are you sure those two lineman won or are you saying they were nominated. I don't see either one of them in the record books as having won....Ricky Ladd won it in 2005 according to the tssaa website
  12. Here is some good news for WH fans......the last two teams to beat GC in the playoffs went on to win the GOLD BALL!!!!
  13. Dont go getting your panties in a wad, I mentioned that the game is decided on the field and not on paper. Is that why you have lost THREE straight quarterfinal games?????
  14. Bo Wallace won it his senior year 2009 I think it was, Al Cobb was runner-up last year I believe,
  15. Yesterday I looked at some statistical scoring averages of each team and their respective opponents. And I know the game is still played on the field and the winner isn't decided on paper. But averages and trends are that for a reason, because over time the stats will trend towards their averages. This isn't to say that in any one game there won't be a deviation away from the norm. It happens and that is why they play the game. But still more often than not, averages hold true. I know WH fans will blab about heart and grit and other bull, as would I if the stats were against me. You know the GC kids have heart as well. Also, turnovers are the great equalizer and can change a game so who knows. But here is some more interesting stats. According to current sonny moore rankings GC is a 10 point favorite. This year against the spread (ATS) WH is 4-7-1, they were favored in all but one game (lipscomb) and lost that game. Straight up as a favorite they are 10-1, as a dog 0-1. At home ATS they are 1-4-1. GC ATS, 5-7. On the road they are 3-3. GC was favored in 9 of 12 games. When favored they are 9-0 straight up. Also, against WH schedule GC would be favored in every game and in theory would be 12-0. Against GC schedule WH would have been favored in 8 of the 12 and in theory would be 8-4 (they lost the only game they were a dog in)
  16. Let's take a look at some numbers and averages. Since stats trend toward their average over time I will look at som stat averages for these two teams. Comparing the offense and defense of each (since white house has claimed how good their defense is). In the stat averages White played Harpeth who won a game by forfeit, i used the score as played from that game not the forfeit 2-0 score. Now these stats are only taking into consideration the games each team won (each team is 10-2), in other words it is comparing the teams they beat. WH in their wins outscored the opponent 26.1-10.1 GC in their wins outscored the opponent 38.5-17.7 You may look and say, GC offense is better but WH defense is better....not so fast my friend. Wh opponents scored on average 19.5 ponts per game and WH held them to 9.4 points below their season averages. GC opponents scored on average 26.6 points per game and GC held them to 8.9 below their average. Defenses are almost equal when you factor in the opponents they faced. Also, WH beat 5 teams who averaged more than 20 points a game whereas GC beat 9. Conclussion, GC faced much better offenses. Looking at points scored for each team in their victories, GC offense seems more prolific...looking at the stats let's see. GC opponents gave up on average 26.1 points per game, Giles topped this by 12.4. WH opponents gave up on average 25.5 points per game, WH topped this by only .6 Looking at the numbers, GC offense IS more prolific, each team faced defenses giving up almost exactly the same number of points but Giles county topped the average by nearly 12 points more than WH. My prediction: If each teams defense and offense play like they have all season. GC holding opponents to 8.9 below their average and scoring 12.4 more than their opponents give up. And WH holding opponents to 9.4 below their average and scoring .6 more than they give up. GC would score 29.1 (9 below their avg) + 22.5 (above WH avg) / 2 = 26 WH would score 17.2 (8.9 below their avg) + 18.3 (above GC avg) / 2 = 18 For full disclosure: In the playoffs GC starting defense has given up 0 points, so 18 for WH may be generous.
  17. Admittedly, I was not at the game. And 20 penalties does seem excessive. But from my experience this is how I view what happened. Pearl was use to pushing teams around and having their way with them. Giles is by far the best team Pearl has played (other then MBA). When things didn't go Pearl's way early they started to panic and when this happens it can lead to penalties. Playing against a defense who is quick and every bit as athletic as you yourself can lead to mistakes if you aren't prepared. In my opinion this is what happened to Pearl, they weren't prepared for what they went up against. Just because Pearl hadn't been called for penalties in past games in no way indicates they were not guilty of penalties in this game. In past games Pearl was athletically superior and had no need to hold or block in the back. Tell me, would it be a more fairly called contest if the refs had just not called the holding penalties? How would this be fair to the Giles players? Excuses are what people make when they are not man enough to take responsibility for their actions. Anyone can be gracious in victory but it takes a special athlete and a great competitor and sportsman to be gracious in defeat. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team, and concede that they were better on this given night. Or keep blaming the refs and making excuses, if that helps you sleep at night.
  18. Oh and Lexington is a "playoff powder puff" and they should admit to it. They always seem to have good regular seasons and then make an early playoff exit.
  19. Not that who beat who matters as teams match up differently......BUT David Lipscomb smacked you around, Pearl Cohn smacked around Lipscomb and then Giles smacked Pearl.....Those are just the facts.
  20. I tip my hat to the two of you, you were CORRECT, no waayyyyy Giles will win by 21....they only managed a 16 point victory. Pearl never scored on offense. 23-7 Giles wins.....lets hear the excuses
  21. 23-7 Giles County with 3:20 left and giles has the ball Pearl's only score came on a defense fumble return
  22. who is getting in who's head now?? Pearl isn't getting cheated on they are getting outplayed and are growing frustrated. Whether you will admit it or not you know it's true.
  23. Not true, this is the fifth year of the current system and Giles has only gone west once (the first year) the year they won the championship. They may send them west this year but there is hardly a precedent.
  24. I think its only about a six mile difference but the TSSAA is not about to send just one team from Nashville to quad 2 when they can have a close little cluster of schools to try and limit travel. I think Giles is hurt by the fact that they are not really that close to any other school in the 4A playoffs, except for Page. I mean if you look at the map Giles is kinda down by their lonesome.
