How to word this without seeming to disrespect work of Vic and Pirate staff. If they all left today program would continue dominate for years. Culture is just different in that town. Orange/Black everywhere throughout town; Pirate flags all over, year round. Pride in program is obvious. Kids are born squalling "slap a diaper on me I'm gonna get me some Purple". That's not too much of an exageration. Kids live to be Pirates down there, not necessarily to play for Vic. Don't see that desire deminishing anytime soon regardless of who coaches. Marion kids seem to be just, well civilized is as good a word here as any. They will play football, a lot even want to, but that lust to wear the uniform and step out on the field on Friday nights just don't burn as fiercely most places. Marion 2008 / 2009 teams should have been at least competitive against Pirates; couldn't pull it off. Out coached; likely. Most was simply player intimidation of Marion team, including this year. That's what I believe consistently sets Pittsburg teams apart from other area teams. JMO Marion will end the streak next year.

Persoanlly I like a defense with the attitude of attacking the offense to knock them backwards or taking the ball from them. JoeWillie is beginning to think he committed a social faux paus (ssp) in joking about your earlier "Marion loses" posts. Those were tongue in cheek typre predictions, correct? Are you a coach? If defense shows just a little improvement this team suddenly becomes dangerous indeed. Gaining momentum at the right time of year.

MCRW I've seen a lotta Marion teams come and go. Do you remember another team that was so good / so bad from one side of the ball to the other? I don't. Barring another Hixson meltdown Marion should continue to score one or a few more points than their opponents in the remaining games. I just don't see any marked improvment coming soon with the defense. taking care of the football is critical for Marion to win out.

Actually I'm a Warriorhoser and openminded about the Pirates. Won't be stunned if boyd pulls off the win, just difficult to contain all three speedsters. If the game were at Boyd I might feel differently. Right now I think speed will trump power. Game of that week around here for sure.

That 2008 end of year Pirate schedule remainds me a lot of this years schedule. Team peaked too early. Huge games (wins) against Boyd and Tyner took it's toll. Until someone convinces me Boyd can contain this offense, Pirates win.

Well you didn't exactly say Pirates will lose. Defense is bad, BB will score, Pirates will score more. Quite a bit more if Boyd fails as miserably as other opponents at controlling this scoring machine. Still believe Pirates take this win. When did Boyd last beat Pittsburg? Tornado bowl I think wasn't it.

Personally I feel the long period off will be Pittsburg's main problem. Just hard to stay sharp with that type delay. If they come out focused I think Pirates win. Home field advantage, multiple backs that can score on anybody from any point on the field, just too difficult to contain play after play. I just don't see Boyd being able to outscore this Pirate team.

This time last week I felt UTC had little chance of beating Citadel, especially on the road. Just never know. Marion will win if they take care of the ball. It will be another comfortable but likely close game. Marion can drive on any team; any team to date can drive on Marion. Defensive scheme is set, don't see any change this late, will be surprised if tackling improves. Just take care of the ball and outscore them. It's worked so far. Won every game they should have and should have won one they weren't picked to win. Offense is doing better at covering the ball up. Saw lot's of LV players clawing and pulling; only one fumble lost I believe. Good job, get better.

I'm posting here mainly for the Mayor. He thinks you're my daddy. Is this a home game for Pittsburg? Pirates don't need to be inflaming anybody for remainder of year. Last few games then playoffs. Thats a stretch that'd make an old Oak Tree quake. Perdiction later but right now I'm leaning with home team whoever that is.

Big J and Purple both make valid points. Less arm tackling and more defensive aggression are needed IMO. But, coach sees these same things. Have to accept he knows what he's doing. Purple, late in 2nd Quarter I was hoping LV would begin passing more also and abandon that effective running game they were tearing us apart with. Funny game; from last three minutes of 3rd quarter I wasn't worried about actually winning long as we continued to take care of the ball. We had a lead and it was clear neither team could stop the other. LV did begin to fade on defense some as game wore on. If that school has ten more legitimate football players walking the halls they should be ashamed. I admire the effort this LV team displayed. Just sad that lack of numbers will likely cost them some wins this season. Good luck to them.

Marion had a late 1st half drive to keep LV from going in ahead at halftime. That was huge iMO. Fake FG for TD, followed by 2 pt. conversion. This offense is unbelievably exciting to watch. After game seven, defense is what it is. Have to believe Coach knows what he's doing. Correct, a win is a win. Big, big region/district win, whichever it was. I get confused.

Agreed with #25; QB ain't bad either. Lotta heart for an undermanned team. Stopped them once all night and got some help from them that time. Marion's offense is exciting to watch. Much better at taking care of the ball tonight. Penalty on coact Mac was silly. Sounds like you saw a great game yourself.

I saw that to and got a chuckle. Surprised post didn't get more response on this SP vs Whitwell thread. Fierce local town loyalty will cause consolidation to be postponed as long as possible. Economics will be deciding factor eventually. Indisputable. JMO

I miss those days too. Today is what it is and I know coaches and players watch this particular site. Just thought our town and team were taking it a little on the chin on these boards from the Pirate posters. whether it ruffles feathers or not, lately they've posted more frequently than Marion posters on Marion threads. That's pathetic. Yep PG our players see and hear the crowd noise at the games. They don't see the support on these boards their opponents down the street enjoy. Truth, I believe YOU believe you were never affected by crown noise to play better. I very respectfully, without intent to inflame, say BS. You don't know how many times I stood in stands and supported you and team mates. I often times shouted unsolicited advice on important tactical points I wanted you to exploit, all of which you ignored by the way. Here's a belated "You're Welcome".

JoeWillie TWELVE, not Dillard, was surprised to see all these posts on the Marion / LV thread this morning, until he actually read them. Score is something like 8 - 1 - 2. That's Eight Pirate posters, One Marion poster and Two by Marion's closet fan the Mayor. That's OK but disappointing. You Marion fans better support the team better at the game than you're doing here or their goose will be cooked, roasted, broiled and ate by LV Friday night. If you can't post about the players, say something positive about the coach. Don't want that cat leaving town anytime soon. You can't give away any secrets about the team. He don't use same secret plays from one game to another. Go Warriors and thanks for the Pittsburg posters help in keeping this thread from being soooooo lonesome.

We definitely have to out hit LV. I think we will if for no other reason than our numbers are a bit higher. Gotta contain and be aggressive on defense, go to the play instead of waiting on it.
