  1. I figured SC would put up a few scores, keep it close for awhile. Other than that, game went about like I expected. Congrats to MC players / coaches. Be kind to the next SC. I had this game * marked as pivotal for Marion. Team made it look almost a yawner.
  2. Joewillie12 says he'll concede the first half of this game as a toss up, based on home field advantage, rivalry, ex MC coach motivational factor for SC, other such intangibles that play into games. MC must come away at games end with a convincing win to establish themselves as serious Class 2A playoff contenders. They've let one such opportunity slip away already this year. Need to focus and not allow a second come to pass. Good luck MC. Play to your capabilities and all will be well.......for the warriors. Having said that, I've watched this SC team play twice this year. Came away impressed both times. It's a dangerous team that should not be overlooked. Gotta pull for Marion but wish this team the best of luck for the remainder of this season.
  3. As a distant outsider looking in my opinion on this........is this........Unless there's a TSSAA violation in an arrangement like this, the Payer's of such have an understandable desire to help keep High School coaching in a stable state as they advance upward through their Senior years participation, and the receiver of such has a vested interest in personally helping keep the younger feeder program viable both financially and participant wise. It's looks to be one of those Corporate America much talked about Win - Win situations for both parties. Just saying.....This particular topic is likely headed toward one of those lock boxes.
  4. JoeWillie12 and friends left that Lookout Valley / MC mess and wandered up the valley to see a real ballgame. Glad Marion played those Whitwell boys early. They are much improved from a few weeks ago. Also good to see fan excitment and support for their team at Whitwell. Coulda, shoulda, woulda been a win if the ball had bounced differently. Build on the effort. I see positive things for this Whitwell program. Good luck.
  5. I expected to see more excitment about this game than it's generating so far. Sequatchie has home field advantage. If that old veer can eat up the clock and get a few scores early this might be a ball game. It's about the only chance Sequatchie has IMO. I don't see that happening. Game may be close in first half but MC pulls away and wins comfortably during second half. MC can run straight at Sequatchie and win; Sequatchie will try to run straight at MC and will lose. Could be a close ball game but I just don't see it. Entirely depends on whether Sequatchie can keep that clock running with long possessions of the ball that end in scores. MC defense will stop the veer.....just enough.
  6. This weekend will go a long way toward sorting things out in valley football. I hope MC thumps Central convincingly. My gut feeling is they will struggle. Win this one and they should run the table; definitely the biggest, and possibly the strongest team on their schedule. I do believe it'll take Xeman running and scoring often to get a win. This will be a tough win to get on the road. Good luck Warriors.
  7. A teaser, or Glen exposed? That's what I wuz talking about. Hoping for a tussel Friday but don't expect much of one. Good luck Whitwell, great expectations this year just not Friday night. Whitwell does generally give MC fits early on in their games. Real measuring sticks for this MC team comes later against Sequatchie, Central and yes, even SP. Run that gauntlet to impress folks. Possible but not probable (who said that?).. Hope the MC team reaches their full potential this season; the true measure of all great teams. Still have ringing ears from a game decades ago when a much stronger MC team ventrued down to SP, only to endure next days headlines "Pirates silence Marion Horn". Stay focused Marion and don't let history repeat itself. Opportunities galore this season. Live the dream.
  8. Looks like Marion will break that half a hundred mark this weekend.....but I hope not. Hoping to see a competitive Whitwell team come out and give MC some competition. I know they have some speed; just a matter of nocking a few holes and running fast. Marion wins comfortably. Where is Glen this season? His "run fast" analysis always cracked me up.
  9. I would like to see this matchup, Spring, preseason scrimmage or regular season game either one. Big draw for both teams. Hope it happens.
  10. Yep, he's the player that makes all third and three situations look not so formidable. Great that the MC offense is able to give him significant rest; he's a handful on defense too. I'm excited about this MC team; time will tell whether they're as dominate as you believe. They very well may be. Still believe several teams can compete with them yet.
  11. yep........ and yep.....both right on. Marion offense will score against most anyone. Grundy defensive effort showed improvement from past years; expect Ross will have the D even more effective for this game. I hope so. Expect Bledsoe to come out trying to exploit the defensive secondary immediately. I believe MC will be prepared. High scoring game with MC winning comfortably. Stopping the MC offense takes a lot more than simply containing Zeman. Several offensive series against Grundy he wasn't even in for MC.
  12. All you Pirate posters really gonna let this thread slip to Page 2? BigDave you must be a coach with a prediction like that. That second sentence I can agree with but that first one made me go "Whoa !!" I spotted a man mountain coach on the SP sideline I didn't recognize, sporting a Pharoah style beard. That must be you. If you're even in the ballpark with this prediction I'm lining up squarely behind your game analysis the rest of the year.
  13. I'm anxious to see just how well this Marion team will perform defensively. Inability to play solid defense has limited the past two Marion teams success. Hoping Coach Ross has that little problem recitified. Just not too sure Marion will easily blow by Grundy. This is a rivalry game, first of season, etc. MC wins IMO; hoping for more than the single point two years ago.
  14. According to Bills post above looks like they did. Understandable. Eight win season is realistic; even seven would be an achievement. Good luck to the Tigers.
  15. Give up on the team or Coacht posting? Most regular MC posters pulled out last year.
  16. Or earn the right to play them this year perhaps. Could happen. Still remain uneasy about that Marion defense though..................now if they'd just learn to run faster everything would be dandy..or so some say.
  17. Two to three consecutive state semi-final appearances for Marion. A bold prediction Mr Ambassador. Hope you're correct but I'll have to see some actual game time performances before I go that far. I still believe their defense might be a little suspect. We'll see. First game at Grundy will be pivotal I think. Just a little worried that regular season schedule might not prepare them for playoff competition. Marion will beat SP this year; Mr Legit should bring his crying towel.
  18. Atta boy Legit. Green Thumb to you for having Tim's back. Flesh colored thumb down to all you posters for poking at a man looking for a career stepping stone to better things later on. This chance will be beneficial to both Tim and Marion. Win-Win for all. Congrats on the SP coaching hire. Another Win - Win for Coach and School.
  19. Mr Moderator those are some wise words, especially that last sentence. Mr. B, this was all you had to say "...I am a supporter of my son and his name is Beasley....you remember that name cause u will hear it a lot on the loud speaker during the game! " OP is a cage rattler extrodinaire and has gotten under most MC posters skin often. Have noticed he, sometimes grudgingly, extends compliments to any deserving player eventually. Purple supporting Moms and Dads he routinely treats like raw meat. Heed Ambassador's words. Did I miss the Jamboree? This thread sounds like Fueding time has already started.
  20. South, the last time JW12 commented on a post containing another person's screen name some Moderator literally ripped it from Coacht context, wadded it up and drop kicked it somewhere West of the Mississippi River. I won't be coaxed down that path again. I like the SP choice for coach. Hope he goes 9-1 for the season, with MC going 10 - 0. Would not be too disappointed to see records reversed, though its not likely for either team. Season ending game should be (hopefully) less like recent history. That's another thing I like, season ending MC / SP game. Just seems right.
  21. Agreed......8-2 with this schedule and a new head coach would elevate (Tim?) to a coaching legend status. ..........and a deep playoff run would elevate him to "Vic Who?" status. Good luck. Sounds like SP has made an excellent choice.
  22. Atta boy PG; I'd expected that Mr Legit comment to get a rise from PP as well. Some folks look thru rose colored glasses, others have view obstructed by continual stars in their eyes syndrone. Never took MC 310 pages and 84 thread name changes to acquire a new coach. Does look/sound like SP has finally reached a decision; hope it's a local individual this time. If an outsider again I predict a few years of turmoil and another coaching change. No need to go down that road with the available local talent. Whoever it is will begin 0-1 against MC this year.
  23. All right, I'm a computer skillet head. All I intended to do was put a green thumb here. Couldn't figure out how to pull it off.
  24. Skillet Head? You are the originator and self proclaimed King of such. I agree with that Radio comment. He could win many games with SP talent; who couldn't? I said early on SP should hire from within; Stone / Grider obvious choices. Other school connected individuals already named good choices also. Talent pool is wide and deep. Why look elsewhere. JMO but looks like SP hired a competent coach that didn't need the anticipated personality conflicts he saw coming and moved on to other options. Those problems won't likely exist with a local hire. Self inflicted wound that now has to be dealt with. This MC fan feels your pain and again suggests SP keep next hire local. No worrying or friting(?) up the road. Opinions vary from mildly amused to roflmao type behaviors. I'm somewhere in the I Told You So middle range. Again, don't shoot the other foot off. Simplify the situation and hire local.
