  1. TH dominated in every aspect of the game, and it was obvious that they wanted it more. Good luck next week Vikes
  2. Guys ..... lighten up, we are just playing "what if..." here. Even though I am a Blazer fan, I think the Vikes will play Boone much tougher this time. The Vikes have more incentive in this game, plus they are a good team. Didn't the Vikes hang nearly 50 on Science hill? Boone lost to SH 17-0. I think Boone still wins but not by 30 points like last time, more like 7
  3. How do you guys see this one going down? I don't think Boone has ever beaten West. Yeah yeah I know, we have to get through round 1 first, but isn't that what msg boards are all about, having fun with predictions
  4. Boone has the home field advantage, have not lost at home all year, but I think we can throw all that out the window. TN High will not, repeat WILL NOT, throw a dozen interceptions this time, so Boone is going to have to earn this one the old fashioned way, in the trenches. TN High definitely owes Boone as mentioned above, but that was under a different coach and different players, so not sure how much motivation that will be. And you can always look for Jenkins and Barrel to throw in a few wrinkles. Not sure who is going to want this one more, but I'm going to say: DB 25 TH 20
  5. Boone 23 Crockett 6 South played Boone tougher than the score might indicate, in the end Boone just executed well enough for the win, plus South seemed to get away from what was working for them offensively. Crockett is weak this year but they always come after Boone hard, so expect a slugfest until the 3rd quarter when Boone pulls it out. Don't forget this game is Thursday instead of Friday.
  6. Looks like nobody else is starting this one, so here goes... 1st of all, this will be the last time these 2 play as both 5A, South drops to 4A next year. Now on to the game: On paper, Boone should win by 20. But wait, there's more: Word on the street is that Boone has lost some guys due to rules violations. Boo hoo. These 2 teams just seem to always get after each other (remember the big fight in 2010) South runs a no huddle spread offense that is guaranteed to give Boone's defense fits So where does that leave us? Boone 21 South 20 But if that score is reversed it won't be a shock
  7. WaCoJaCo ... that is a great point about Science Hill, they have made a massive turnaround. But on average, if school A has 2000 students and school B has 1000 then there are 375 more soph/junior/senior boys available to play for school A. Then of course you have to factor in the tradition, i.e., if a school keeps having a losing record year after year then no one wants to go out for the team and be 0-10, but if no one goes out for the team then they will stay 0-10 every year, repeat ad in finitum.... So like you said, it's not all about numbers, lot of other factors. Hope this thread was not offensive to anyone (like DB/SH fans), it's just good to see all the boys out playing football instead of inside doing x-box all day
  8. Thanks guys, a lot of good perspective on this one. My original premise was not to whine about losing to DB & SH every year, it was just to try and come up with a way to let DB/SH 3rd string play hard but still keep the score from being 70-0. I guess it just is not possible for those 2 things to happen at the same time. So maybe we all agree that it is the TSSAA that could really do more..... DB/SH are in a very tough spot playing against much smaller schools. I am friends with one of DB's coaches, and they would never intentionally run up the score just for the sake of embarassing the other team. But sometimes it happens when there is such an imbalance in talent, depth, etc. Year in and year out the county schools are always going to lose to the city schools just due to sheer enrollment #'s. SH = 2200+ students, DB = 1800+, Sull South = 900+, Central = 1000, etc. Hopefully the TSSAA will get it together and realign next year.
  9. First of all, you can see by the screen name that I am neither a DB or Science Hill fan. But here goes... it seems that DB and SH have been getting a lot of flak for running up the score. DB and SH fans will respond that they are playing subs and you can't tell those guys not to play hard. So there are valid points on both sides of this issue when DB/SH play woefully outmanned opponents. So here's a possible solution that solves the problem on both sides... Once you're up 50-0 and the subs are still cleaning the other teams clock, how about you install a new offense where the subs play positions that they aren't used to. So let a defensive back play QB, switch the running backs and wide receivers, i.e., shuffle them up. Run 3 plays alternating.... 1. pitch right, 2. pitch left, 3. QB keeps. That way the subs can play as hard as they are able but probably won't "click" that well offensively. It will give the subs some quality playing time but at the same time not end up humiliating the other team. And I guarantee you that a mostly defensive player who gets to play offense will have the time of their life even if they don't score or get a 1st down Thoughts??
