  1. What was his injury? He was obviously in agonizing pain and it was hard to watch as a parent. I've said many a prayer for that kid since.
  2. So in one game, on ONE deep ball you've figured out that Brock is a chuck and pray passer? Um, okay. Livingston will roll again, even if that town is full of Obama signs. What the crap??!!
  3. Congrats to the Westmoreland Eagles on an absolute beat down you put on a pretty darn good York team. Excellent defensive effort on the Eagles part. Denying York's fast backs the edges really hurt us. We've ran a 33 stack defense all year and in Brown's infinite wisdom he switched us to a 52 for this game, leaving our kids confused and discombobulated on the adjustments. Best of luck to yall and enjoyed the discussions Mr Postman.
  4. Ahhhh, the playoffs. In less than 9 hours the ball will be on the tee and we'll slug it out to see who moves on. Here's hoping and praying for an injury free game!
  5. I'm not aware of any Alvin C. York relatives on the team. I do see one of his sons in town quite regularly though. He's a great man. As for smack talk, all I can tell ya is that every kid we field will fight to his last dying breath to win. I'm very proud of them but dont really get into the predictions or get cocky, heck last year we went 2-8 and I still remember how that tastes.
  6. Final score York 34, Upperman 22. Upperman had 2 passes for TDs and their QB ran one in. And I was wrong, Upperman's QB threw five interceptions that night, not the previous 6 I posted with the disclaimer. Upperman's defense also forced 4 Dragon turnovers, thus only 34 points.
  7. The York Dragons forced 7 turnovers in that game, 6 of which (if I'm not mistaken) were interceptions thrown by this young man you are touting as best in the district OVER Phillips and McCoin? You're right, that does sound crazy.
  8. Wanted to drop off some intra district love for the Tigers. Go get em boys.
  9. Wanted to drop off some intra district love for the Owls. Take it to 'em Friday!
  10. Looking forward to the trip to Westmoreland this coming Friday night!!
  11. Enjoyed the game, hated to lose it after being up 20-6 but it is what it is. I will say that this was the absolute proudest I've been of our kids all year. To go in and fight as hard as they did missing sick starters (and a hand full playing hurt) and come as close as they did says an awful lot about the heart this football team has. I'll miss this group of seniors in a big way. Congrats to the Owls and good luck in the playoffs. PS thanks for the great directions!
  12. Crazy rumor over here in Jtown is that LA looked into moving this game to TTU's field and didn't because it was gonna cost $2000? Five bucks per head EASILY covers the cost. Come on man! Some folks would believe anything. Good luck to both yall tonight. Cant decide who I'd rather see win. I have lots of family and friends in Livingston but wouldn't mind seeing a new sheriff in town either. No one is giving my Dragons any hope against SC tonight. We're pretty well used to that, but strap up and give it our best anyway.
  13. Bummer. I was really hoping to bring our best and line up with your best and get a pre playoff gutcheck but all I'm hearing is sick, sicker and sickest.
  14. I believe the points and the record are more reflective of the athletic abilities of the kids than the scheme itself. The veer requires excellent blocking (5 seniors on offensive line this year) and is prone to turnovers pitching the ball so much. The veer treated us to 2-8 last year with pretty much the same kids running it. They're all bigger, faster and stronger thus the turn around. We did gain an amazing running back from another school and we are darn glad to have him!
  15. I HATE the veer and wish we'd run anything else. Thanks for the great directions and food recommendation!
  16. Thanks OriginalSC3. Yours was our worst beat down last year. 2-8 is never fun. What travel route would yall recommend from Jamestown to Carthage? This'll be my first time over there. And are there any local fare non-chain restaurants in Carthage that I shouldn't miss?
  17. I know this. I sat in a ridiculously cold rain last year to watch SC beat us like stepchildren on our own field to end an absolutely dismal season. Redemption would be wonderful. The ball is on the tee in 4 days.
  18. McCoin has heart, he was gimped on an ankle in the first half against us and was playing defense against us in the 4th quarter. Saw him hug a handful of our players after the game as well. I thought that was a nice show of class and guts on his part.
  19. Your post implies that LA will be taking away DC's passing game, forcing them to run? Good luck with that....
  20. All the hype is Dekalb at Livingston Friday night, but I believe York at Smith will be an excellent game.
  21. Random thoughts, game analysis and prediction per request: Both offenses have the necessary fire power to hang a winning amount of points, and could probably trade TDs back and forth all night. This one is absolutely hanging on the defense and special teams. From what I saw, I dont think LA can keep up with Dekalb's ability to stretch the field vertically. Its hard to cover from the line of scrimmage to the goal line and to shut down Dekalb thats pretty much what you have to ask of your defense. Dekalb's defense appeared disciplined against our veer (I REALLY hate the veer, fyi) and their tackling was pretty darn good. Missed tackles on Creed Hayes killed York, I dont see that happening to Dekalb. Dont give him the edge or he's GONNA hang six on ya. I'm not going to make a who-scores-what prediction, but I'll say Dekalb's team speed, ridiculous offensive firepower and disciplined defense gets it done. If it goes the other way, I'd be straight up shocked.
  22. I have no dog in the DC/LA fight. That said, my beloved Dragons fell to both of your ball clubs and I wish you both well. Keys to winning: DEFENSE. Period. Dekalb...wanna win? Stay in your lanes and dont give up the edges. Rush McCoin. Dont get juked by Creed Hayes, he's excellent at making you miss. Hogeye...wanna win? Your secondary will have to have the best night of its life. Dont let Molander even see the ball, let alone touch it. He's a weapon on defense as well, he remains the ONLY player I've seen all year that has run down our Moore and Huddleston from behind. Should be a great game. We've got Smith County that night and we owe them one from last year.
  23. Congrats to LA. Ya got us, but I bet you left knowing you were in a football game.
  24. First off, thank you for your service and Semper Fi Brother! I dont know how sold out you are on staying in TN, but I know for a fact Georgia was desperately hiring on transitional licenses in a big way as recently as a couple years ago. Maybe you could find something down there? Best of luck to you, Leatherneck.
