  1. Not sure who you are talking about... Could you clarify?
  2. Indian, do you have the schedule?
  3. Who is hosting play days tomorrow? (Saturday) I think I saw that Stewarts Creek and Riverdale are both hosting in the midstate. What about East and West TN?
  4. In the mid-state, I know BA, Lebanon/Wilson Central and Summit all hosted play days. Who attended? Who looked good? Give us a report!
  5. Fastcat, I heard the Carter girl from KW transferred to Bradley Central. Is that true? If so, I don't see any way that Kenwood finishes in the top 4. If she is back, then I agree with you that they could make some noise.
  6. I saw Rossview and Clarksville both play at a couple of camps this summer and both teams seemed to be pretty strong. I agree that the mental edge goes to Rossview. They have had a choke hold on this district for the last several years. They return a lot of experience but did not appear to have the size they have had in the past. Clarksville has good size, a shooter, solid pg, a couple of slashers and some other solid role players. I'm not sure they don't have the most talent in the district. Will they be able to get over the hump vs Rossview is the question. They couldn't do it in 4 meetings last year, which I believe makes 10 or 11 in row over them. That has to get in your head after a while. I think the second tier of teams is Henry Co and Springfield. Henry lost their best all around player but have a huge post and solid pg returning. They could definitely be in the mix. Springfield got better throughout the year and could surprise some teams in the district. I have not seen any of the other teams play enough to speak intelligently about them but based on last year's records, Kenwood seems to be the best of the rest.
  7. With the start of practice less than a month away. Who do you think is the favorite in 9AAA this year? Can WC repeat without Spray? Can Mt Juliet return to their usual dominant form? Will Lebanon show significant improvement in year 2 under Barrett? Is Hendersonville the sleeper with a freshman point guard? They have good size and Long/Sheehan can score. What are your predictions? This is my best guess. 1 WC- Byrd is best player in the league and Wild is best coach. 2 Hendersonville- They return significant talent and experience, which should take them a long way. 3 Mt Juliet- Culture accounts for a lot and Fryer always gets a lot out of his kids. Bell can play! 4 Lebanon- Young but talented group coming up. 5 Station Camp- Payne and Deason can score at a high clip and the team always plays hard 6 Beech- New coach and losing best athlete/scorer leaves them as a big question mark. 7 Portland- With the loss of Herrera, Chatmon and Keen, not sure where points will come from. 8 Gallatin- With no Hudson, I think they'll really struggle to score.
  8. My son could play for Tubby any day, if he were fortunate enough to have that opportunity some day.
  9. I don't think "identifying" a quality coach is the issue. I think it is "landing" a quality coach that is the problem. First, they have to be C of C which I would say eliminates at least two thirds, if not more, of your qualified candidates. Then, you factor in that private schools generally don't have the retirement package that the public system has. So anyone who has significant experience in the public system probably isn't going to give up their retirement to go to a private school unless the money is just way over what they are currently making. At Lipscomb, I would not think they would be willing to pay that kind of money. I have no idea what LA pays but I have friends who coach at a Goodpasture, Nashville Christian, Mt Juliet Christian, and a few others and I do know what they pay. So, if those are in the same ballpark money-wise as LA, I think its probably not as easy of a sell for admin as some of you are suggesting. Not saying it's a bad job, not saying they won't land a big name coach that will wow us all... I hope they do! I am just saying that some of you act like the Lipscomb admin are just going to show up on Bowers', Sanderson's or Stallings' doorstep with a dump-truck full of cash and hire them to come to LA. I don't think that is realistic. Then again, maybe I am the delusional one...
  10. I heard they were bringing Mike Miller back.
  11. Bowers is probably making more money as a coach and AD at Ensworth than the Head of School at Lipscomb... Probably more than Casey Alexander at the University. No way he is giving that up to coach basketball at LA.
  12. I don't know much about the job other than it has been open a lot over the last 5 years or so. I would think the teaching aspect would be pretty good but I doubt you'd have the athletes to compete with Southside, Lexington, Bolivar, Fayette Ware, Liberty, etc. year in and year out. Tough district and region...
  13. I think Wilson Central is obviously a really good team with Spray. I think Dickson Co and Rossview are also solid programs that have made state tournament runs recently. Memphis Central seems to be having a strong year and I believe Houston out of Memphis is also having a good season. Mo West seems to make it to the glass house pretty often. It should be interesting to see how it shakes out. I've already been seeing some upsets. You just never know.
  14. Illin, I am with you! Central has never done anything and Worsely has that team competing against and beating teams they have no business beating or competing with, based on player to player matchups. Central winning 16 games this year is like the Philadelphia 76ers making the playoffs this year. Take your black and gold blinders off! Worsely should be CoY! He won't get it. But he should be!
  15. Solid analysis MtJBears! Any chance Mt Juliet upsets WC on Friday? It wouldn't affect WC but could lock up 2nd for MJ. I wouldn't say Hendersonville/Beech is a lock either though. It was only a 6 pt game last time. It appears Portland/Lebanon are going to play friday and then turn around and play again in the first round. Portland won the last meeting by 13 but Lebanon has won 4 in a row. This should be an interesting matchup to watch. I think the 9AAA tournament will end like this: 1) WC -clearly the best team 2) HV - I just think they are playing better than MJ right now 3) MJ - They seem to be going the wrong direction 4) Lebanon- two weeks ago, I thought they had mailed in the rest of the year but have won 4 straight and seem to have revived the sinking ship. I agree about 10AAA. Rossview has made it the Region 5AAA championship game the last two years, losing to MJ both times and are currently 23-1. They are definitely a team to be reckoned with and Henry County already has 20+ wins, which is impressive! Clarksville beat Beech by 30 early in the year and have a solid record as well. The region may be wide open this year!
  16. Yes they did. Hendersonville led most of the game and had a VERY QUESTIONABLE technical foul call on Coach Johnson that really changed the momentum of the game. Even after that, Hville still had 3 shots to win it in regulation with less than 14 seconds to go. They missed 2 layups with 3 seconds left and then fell apart in overtime. Spray is fun to watch! Coach Wild's sideline antics are pretty entertaining as well. Congrats to Lebanon for getting the monkey off their back!
  17. Her name is Haynes-Overton. She attends East Nashville
  18. Does that mean he is a good developer of talent or a good recruiter of talent? Lol!
  19. Well if you see my terrible predictions above, the one thing I got right was WC at the top. I was leaning that way for tonight and WC came up with the win.
  20. Big game tonight in 9AAA between Wilson Central and Mount Juliet to determine 1st place. WC would be appear to be the stronger team on paper but we know they don't play games on paper. Who ya got?

How could they do that? They don't recruit!
  22. After watching games for a couple of weeks, my predictions have changed a bit. This is how I see things shaking out. 1) Wilson Central 2) Hendersonville 3) Lebanon 4) Station Camp 5) Mt Juliet 6) Portland 7) Gallatin 8) Beech
  23. So, are you saying Station Camp is a contender? I just thought with them losing so much of their scoring in Kendrea and Sam that they would take a step back. No?
  24. Well, I have not seen MJHS play this year. I was basing this ranking on the fact that they haven't had a down year in a long time and they usually have a few transfers magically show up. If that hasn't happened, I definitely think MJ slides down the list from what they lost and who was on their bench last year.
  25. I'll say: 1) Wilson Central 2) Hendersonville 3) Mt Juliet 4) Lebanon 5) Portland 6) Station Camp 7) Gallatin 8) Beech
