"Based on their placing at the State tournament, the top four teams of Region 10 and Region 6 had a combined total of 42 and 48. Region 2's top four teams had a total of 77 (Farragut 6th, Union Co. 17th, So. Doyle 24th, Seymour 30th). "
Just my thoughts, It is very difficult to bring much of a team out of a twenty something team region. So to compare apples and oranges is really not fair. You put any of the teams mentioned out of region 2 in most any other region you would have much more potential for teammates to score points. I really think even the Bradley's and Soddy's would have a heck of a time carrying a whole team through a twenty team region. ( I certainly mean no disrespect to either of the above mentioned programs.) Simply think that shear numbers alone would not allow for a team to carry all 14 team members to the State Tournament. I truely think if your were to take the top 10 or 12 teams from Region 2 you would see a much greater chance of higher team scores. Again this is based on numbers alone. You give a team the chance to score points in 14 positions your sure to catch a break somewhere along the way. Having said this I know that there were several other large Regions out that could make the same argument. Hence the 10 Regions instead of 8 in the up coming season. Perfect answer of course not, but at least it is a start. You still have the argument of several loaded teams in this Region or that Region, but you are always going to have ups and downs. Except of course the four or five top programs in the State. Make no mistake folks I don't think any team in Region 2 is ready to make a run just yet but with a fewer number of teams they certainly could be more competitive. (I truely love the growth that has taken place in our great sport and don't wish to regress by dropping programs to even numbers.)
