  1. Pittman is a gift from the football gods, as far as Williams is concerned is not a direct quote from Coach Williams. That part was written by the reporter. Just sayin'.
  2. What about this..... Keep the current system as is because other than an error here and there it does this best to get the best teams in the playoffs (ex. cleveland out, walker valley in error/south, cleveland situation error). I like how total wins is the first criteria because that makes things always be in your hands if you are winning. Win you're in. If Cleveland wins one out of its last two games they get in. The very next criteria is opponents over .500 which I think pushes teams to get better opponents on the schedule which leads to better regular season games. Now my change would be release the brackets the Sunday after and instead of coaches making a quick exchange and getting ready for the game the following Friday, give each team that made the playoffs a bye week and play the games the following Friday. This does a couple of things: 1.) This gives the TSSAA all day Saturday to go through the previous nights games and double and triple and quadruple check that brackets. 2.) This gives the TSSAA times to catch and correct any mistakes made the way it should be corrected. 3.) This gives teams a week to get healthy and rest before making a playoff run. May not be the best play but it is a quick fix that could be applied over the next 4 years without changing the playoff system that has been voted in.
  3. Yeah and then you won't be playoff tested and have the possibility to lose in the quarters, or semis because you have never been in the situation playing a good team and having to battle. When I was there we played a great south pitt team, goodpasture, lipscomb, baylor, ezell harding, franklin road academy and east ridge when all three where good. And when we got into the playoffs we were battle tested and made it to the championship game each year. So if this team doesn't make the championship you can look to the schedule as one reason, not the only reason, but a significant reason. And if you don't think it is championship or bust for this Boyd team you are wrong.
  4. What could the major error be? Both teams have 5 wins and Walker Valley have 6 teams on their schedule with .500 and Cleveland only have 5 teams on their schedule with .500.
  5. The wins are added up for the whole year. Copper Basin's wins were already added into the total before they even played. Here is the real issue... The was this playoff system is set up (remember it will be this way for at least 4 more years) it does not benefit you to schedule bad teams. Boyd's non conference schedule is 2-8 CCS, 3-7 East Ridge, 2-8 Howard, and 1-9 Unaka. That is a total of 8 wins for 4 opponents. That will not help you with the way the system is set up. I understand it is hard to get people on the schedule that is good, it was the same way when I was there. Bigger schools don't want to play you because its a no win and smaller schools are usually scared to play you. But Boyd has to find better than that.
