  1. Tough call - the senior has been banged up all year. It has kept him from running much (and he's darn good at that) which hasn't affected us a whole lot. And he'd played very little on D (safety) until last week. The sophomore has looked quite capable of stepping in but what about his decision-making? The senior rarely throws ill-advised passes. Not sure you can expect that from a sophomore.
  2. I don't think we are going to know how good this NCS team is until Friday night. Let's be honest, we've had an easy go of it so far. Now if we come away with another lopsided victory against JB, then we can start talking about being a legitimate quarter-final contender. I'm not saying we've played patsies, but until you face important 3rd/4th down situations that can change a game, do you really know how a team will handle pressure?
  3. Have to go with 1 game different than Shep this week (heh heh). I have a feeling this is going to be a good one (close like last year). NC @ JB McEwen @ CA ER @ HC Another question for HC folks..... How many personal fouls did LCA have against you guys? We scrimmaged them and they were very undisciplined.
  4. Shep / Moto (all other JB folks), Will you please tell me your favorite places to eat (not too far from the high school)? Something local - no chains. Thanks.
  5. That's a nice assessment of Daniel. Thanks for the kind words. Very rarely will one defender be able to bring him down. I know these kinds of stats aren't kept in HS football but would love to know how many yards he's amassed after the first tackler hits him. He is a lot of fun to watch and he's a great kid. And remember he is only a sophomore. You should see him sky for a rebound on the basketball court.
  6. Heard about this last night - now it's official..... bummer for the boys on our team http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130910/SPORTS07/309100082/Nashville-Christian-forfeits-win
  7. E-H has a tough go of it this year - only about 15-16 guys saw the field. They were completely gassed by the end of the third - maybe even before that.
  8. Are you watching on hudl.com? Wish I had come up with that idea
  9. Here's the new one....... Record Pts Prv 1. Humboldt (10) 3-0 149 2 2. South Pittsburg (2) 2-1 120 4 3. Dresden (1) 2-1 103 3 4. Coalfield 2-1 99 5 5. Greenback 2-1 80 6 6. Moore County (1) 2-1 78 1 7. Cloudland (2) 3-0 77 8 8. Nashville Christian School 3-0 71 7 9. Gordonsville 2-1 49 9 10. Jo Byrns 1-1 38 10 Others receiving 12 or more points: None.
  10. My Week 3 picks (once again same as Shep's): JB @ Eagleville Harpeth @ ER DA @ NC CA @ Collinwood Lancaster Christian @ HC
  11. With good reason. Your team was soundly beaten by the best team you've seen this season and you start throwing rocks. Here are your words......"NC's team is by far the best I've seen play this season so far" And monoptn pointed out that this is your mode of operation. Just admit that your team was trounced (like we all did when Huntingdon put one on us last year) and move on.
  12. I'm not sure what "true colors" you are referring to. Just trying to correct your misguided "bought" statement. Please go back and read what I said in my replies. There was never any disrespect intended. I believed your one-liner to be out of line.
  13. That makes sense. Last year's bout was a good one and I expect we'll see much the same in 2 weeks. I've never seen a team improve the way we did last year from playing CA the first time to playing them again in the playoffs. We have not been tested yet this year, so it's hard to say where this team is compared to last year's team. I believe our first true test will come in Cedar Hill.
  14. Hey Moto and Shep, We know what we will be up against in 2 weeks. Your school has a storied history and in HS football that is definitely worth some bragging rights. Just looking forward to some hard-nosed action on the field and two great coaches battling minds on the sidelines.
  15. Sorry to hear that you guys are banged up. I hope that isn't the case when we come up there in Nov. Enjoyed watching Mr. Rugen play a couple of times last year. Very exciting with the ball. I see you are at Collinwood this week. That was one ugly game we played against them last year. We had boys with all kinds of cuts, etc. on their lower legs from intentional gougings.
  16. Maybe if we keep posting the above quote from an informed poster, we can shut the uninformed up - you know who you are. You are from the team that is not smarter, not stronger, not better prepared, didn't work harder, were out schemed, and were just outplayed. LOL.
  17. Wow - we win a few games, have a few boys go on official SEC school visits and we have to put up with your drivel? Where's the ignore button?
  18. Maybe if we were talking basketball, football is quite a different story. These same three boys were on last year's team and Huntingdon was a machine that couldn't be stopped. The district is ours for the taking, after that, who knows? And by the way, there are more than 3 SEC caliber players on this team. Give this coaching staff another year or two with these guys and it will play out.
  19. Hey watkins. We've been through this before (with other posters) about NCS. It is a private school that offers $0 dollars to anyone in financial help. I don't care if you are the principal's kid. You get no financial help whatsoever. And I'm close enough to the program to know that it's not coming in the back door either - this is not BA or Ensworth. The change that you and others are seeing in this program starts at the top. If you knew Coach Brothers (and the guys he's put together on this staff) you would want your kid playing for him at any cost. We have families that drive an hour to get their kids to this school. I completely agree with your assessment of public vs. private. My son's teachers are awesome. The class size averages about 15 students/teacher. He's getting quite an education in the classroom and on the field. BTW, your boys have nothing to be ashamed of after last night. They competed hard until the final whistle. They were just out-manned. In years to come it might be turned around.
  20. Thanks monoptn. Your points are spot on. How did East Robertson look against you guys last night? Looks like they put up a good fight.
  21. Looks like JB had an easy time with McEwen. That means the September 20th game in Cedar Hill is shaping up to be a good one.
  22. I guess it's okay to say since the schools contacted Coach Brothers and it's being done the right way..........2 boys left at 4am so they could tour, eat breakfast, and catch a game that kicks off at 11:21am our time. And the other boy is traveling about 5 minutes north to watch James Franklin's team.
  23. 34 and 50 going to one school and 52 going to another
  24. 3 NCS boys making official visits at 2 SEC schools today. 2 will probably come home with offers. The third is too young for that sort of thing Congrats guys!!
  25. I'm assuming you mean brought instead of bought? Otherwise, that's a very curious statement .
