  1. Why is Kingston playing in 3AA this year during the regular season but 4AA in the playoffs? I think other teams do this as well. Why does TSSAA set it up like this? Why don't they just play in the playoffs that they played all their regular season games in? Who's to say they'd even qualify for 4AA playoffs....or who knows, they might get more wins in 4AA then they would in 3AA playing against Alcoa, CAK and Kingston? Either way....it doesn't make sense to me, why do they do it? Thanks
  2. Point made....but only because of the loss to Loudon, not Alcoa!! haha
  3. And that's really all I'm saying. Thanks for verbalizing it for me! From the Cleveland Banner on the Polk Co. (#2 seed) game: “We know Kingston is 6-4. The four losses by the Jackets have all been losses to some of the toughest programs in the state. We also know their losses have been to Alcoa (9-1), Christian Academy of Knoxville (9-1), 5A Lenoir City (9-1) and a Loudon team that is 7-3 that lost to CAK, Alcoa and Lenoir City. Their four losses are against four very good teams. Their record is deceiving." Lenoir City went on to be a #2 Seed in 5A. Loudon lost to us in the playoffs and as mentioned above, lost to Alcoa and 5A Lenoir City.
  4. Fair enough. Just sayin...if any of those other teams listed had to play us and Alcoa 3 times.....they'd have three more losses than they did, and if they met either one of us in the first/second round....their playoff runs would have ended there.
  5. Your logic seems to be of the mindset of scheduling a bunch of patsy's to go undefeated so you can claim to be the best. I personally don't believe a random team with the fewest losses is the best (unless they win the playoffs of course). I consider who a teams play and who their losses come against.
  6. Of the five losses, three were to Alcoa and CAK. A very good Lenoir City team (9 wins) and a good Loudon team (3 of their losses were also to Alcoa and CAK). If they played Alcoa and CAK 10 times, they might have 10 losses. It doesn't mean they aren't the third best team.
  7. The team that played us toughest next to Alcoa was Kingston. They held us to 8-0 halftime score and it was 16-7 with 6mins left in the game and they were driving but turned it over on downs when we were able to stop them. On this ensuing possession we went up 23-7 with around 5mins left in the game. They controlled the ball against us with long slow methodical drives that consumed the clock. Something nobody else could do. If we played Kingston in the third round or finals.....they'd be given the respect they deserve. The only reason they aren't being ranked higher, is because they had the misfortune of playing us earliest in the playoffs (after Loudon...but prior to Betsy and Milan).
  8. Wait! Middle School!! You mean these kids aren't recruited but they have played together before!? They've played together longer than 4 years!? That's not fair. FOUL!!!!!!!!! FOUL!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Good post. For those that are ranking Milan simply based on being in the Championship game...yes, they deserve #2. In reality, if they played Alcoa they would lose. Does this mean they would be #3 in a "poll"? To me it does. I then use my logic and ask myself, would they beat Kingston?.....hmmmm. Kingston held us to 16-7 with 6mins left in the game and it was only about 8-0 approaching half time. Kingston isn't being considered, imho, because they lost before Betsy lost and Milan for that matter. What if we played Betsy in the first round and Kingston in the second round? hmmm....hmmmm....HMMMMM.
  10. I couldn't find the box score of the Kingston game but my trusty rusty facebook page tells me it was 16-7 CAK with 6mins left and Kingston just turned it over on downs. I "assume" that's when CAK took the ball down to make it 23-7.....with about 5 mins left in the game or thereabouts. I think we had a quick strike if memory serves......(it never does). ...another post has it 8-0 CAK and "almost" half time. Kingston playing us tough. lol
  11. You make good points and I'd bow down to your picks over mine anyway. I have read your other posts about match ups, run offense, run defense etc etc and I agree with all that you and the others are saying about match ups. It's all about the match up, and in my tunnel vision, I'm only looking at how they matched up against us. I felt in the first Kingston game, they played with us for most of the first half and we only rested some of our defensive starters after they failed to hold serve (unable to keep trading scores). The second game, I was a bit shocked we didn't have much of a crowd. I do agree we came out a bit flat, but Kingston did the rest by controlling the clock against us like nobody else could and keeping our offense flat. They kept our offense on the bench and it was a cold night. They played us about as perfectly as a team should have....long slow drives that ate up alot of clock. Agreed it could have been 30-7 in the end, but for 3 quarters it could have easily gone either way. I feel if Milan had scored more against us, we'd have scored more than 48. We also had the ball inside their 10 with 2mins left and didn't score as it was. As for Betsy, I felt we stopped after the first half of the Betsy game. Without any preconceived notions about how easily we'd handle Kingston, I felt they matched up the best outside of Alcoa and played us the toughest. I think Kingston could battle Milan and Betsy into an excellent game....but I'm somewhat ignorant as to how well their defense could stop the run. If they can't stop the run very well, then Milan and Betsy might stomp them. IMHO.....Kingston played us the toughest of those three, but I agree, we came out much more amped up against Milan and perhaps Betsy. Kingston game #2 was impressive to me on Kingston's behalf. They adapted from the first meeting. First time around they tried to trade scores and did pretty well with it. Second game they tried a ball possession game plan.....and did very well with it. The point spread could have been higher, but it was a nail biter for three quarters. I couldn't find the box score of the Kingston game #2 but my trusty rusty facebook page tells me it was 16-7 CAK with 6mins left and Kingston just turned it over on downs. I "assume" that's when CAK took the ball down to make it 23-7.....with about 5 mins left in the game or thereabouts. I think we had a quick strike if memory serves......(it never does).
  12. I don't know....I do have them top 5 based on performances against us....but it's neither here nor there at this point. I guess just based on how they would match up against us though...I have no idea how they would matchup against some of these other teams. I HATE polls! lol I kept the Tasmanian Devil in because it's so cool! haha
  13. I didn't know you were a Webb fan;)
  14. my bad....bottom 4. Kingston is a team I have rated alot higher than anybody else but I think they aren't being considered because they lost earlier in the playoffs. They played us tough both games imho.
  15. I agree with parts of this and acknowledge it's hard to understand how a poor offensive performance can yield 44pts...but that's what I saw. My main overall point is, with this team, you can't use final scores to judge team against team. Margin of victory didn't mean very much to this team and many factors played into the final scores.....including who we played on defense and more. I think our best game of the year was the second Alcoa game and it was in bottom three of pts scored.
  16. Don't you mean....."Who knows, but they will be............. BRINGIN' THE WOOD!!!"
  17. Sounds like it might be the makings of a bit tougher year than normal, but you guys seem to be contenders every year, and there has to be a reason for that. I'd hang on to that. At some point in the last 5 yrs I'm sure you could find similar losses to graduation that you were able to overcome.
  18. It's going to be a down year for us, but I'm definitely looking forward to next year. Especially loving the new additions to our schedule even if it's going to make an already trying year that much more difficult.
  19. How many wins does it take to make the playoffs?
  20. You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day
