  1. FB and Highlife, couldn't agree with you more. Whatever happened to this being an Overton thread? I can understand talking candidates, but to talk about some "neighbors nephew" talking about assistant coaches at McGavock has nothing to do with with the next Bobcat coach. Sounds more like a disgruntled employee who is looking to air some dirty laundry. Sour grapes don't taste good and tend to stick with you. Overton has a multitude of avenues to continue to enjoy success: a solid tradition, a great location and a previous 10-0 regular season mark, which is extremely rare in 5 or 6A Metro these days. Wishing all candidates well, and did hear the other day, that a wildcard who has been slightly mentioned earlier in this thread couldcreate some noise and no its not JG or RA. heck I wouldn't be surprised if a quality assistant coach in RuCo or WilCo doesn't get a shot. And to echo what someone else said, if the 2 or 3 in the building were going to get it because they had the inside track, why would the principal put on this dog-and-pony show for almost 2 months to hire an in-house guy. Best of luck to them all.
  2. Work, I wasn't thinking Broome or Law. Though who I was thinking does have similar ties to Broome. This guy's in 6A. Fiend - what's your gut on this?
  3. Fiend, Perhaps we read the same article, or at least on the same line of thinking per sources. You're right it would create another hole at HC. This guy is an old school guy. All signs pointing in that direction.
  4. Hate to end lots of discussions, but McPhail or Campbell will not be the next Overton coach. A surprise name will enter the conversation soon. A current local guy, similar to Anderson in may ways, might be making a shorter drive to his new job at Overton compared to where he is now. I'll give you a hint - he is a much wanted head coach....
  5. I hate to say it but I'm gonna have to agree. Suspect hire that needs all the luck he can get. More importantly is how has he been able to land the jobs he has? Glencliff, whites creek, and now hunters lane. What's next the university of Tennessee?
  6. Abner was at HL before, don't think he will be back. Though he might have a state championship ring here in a week or so at Beech.
  7. Principals can easily transfer teachers, whenever. FYI
  8. I cannot believe you seem to think 5 coaches in 1 year, is the same as having 2 coaches in 3 years. There were positions open, trust me. Please read my previous responses in regards to Morenos record.
  9. Since you have failed to accept the notion that there was a difference in support, I will resign my case. But I agree, there offense consistently was one of the worst in all of 5A. Their defense though was consistently very strong.
  10. Apparently you all did not read carefully enough. No one yet has refuted the argument about 2 coaches in the building in 3 years, compared to 5 coaches in one year. By simply calling it a "numbers" game is frankly ignorant. If a principal wanted to open up a position, he/she could do so. You have changed the argument to records instead of support. Records with a coach who had 1 coach in the building his first year, compared to a coach who has 5 coaches in the building. And you mean to tell me you expect them to come out with the same record?
  11. You say he did not screw the previous coach yet, do not deny the fact that I provided about the number of coaches he was able to get. Moreno went to the second round of the playoffs his first year. Yet still was only able to get 1 coach in the building after that. Whereas Clayton walks into 5 coaches in the building his first year. And you mean to tell me that isn't screwing the previous coach, when he refused to help him out yet is willing to help out Clayton. No one is denying that Moreno lost the next two years but where was the support Schrader is showing to Clayton. That sounds like being screwed over if you ask me.
  12. I would tread lightly in regards to Hillsboro. They graduated 35 seniors, and only have single digit juniors (next year's seniors) returning [somewhere around 5 total]. The other sad part about that is the way the principle handled the situation last year. He fired the previous coach who got a total of 2 coaches hired in the building in 3 years. Clayton, has a total of 5, in less than one year. Simply put, he screwed the last coach. Rumor is Clayton is leaving anyways, headed back to Williamson Co. Cane Ridge, made the biggest turn-a-around. They should be consistently good, with the athletes that they will continue to get. Likewise with Antioch. But as good as Cane Ridge supposedly was, they were embarrassed at home in their first playoff game. In regards to Hunters Lane, while I do not know CF, it sounds like there is enough hype around him, but do not understand why he would want to leave a winning program to completely start over and rebuild one. Hunters Lane won't start winning at least for another 2 years regardless of the hire, but I expect them too. Campbell was a good coach at Hunters Lane, and there is rumor that a former Head Coach, a then assistant with Campbell is interested in the job. Perhaps he could turn around that program. Cheers boys!
