  1. Well put there, Fan. I agree 100%!!
  2. Metro asked "do you think Franklin can beat McGavock?" I answered!! He asked "Who is the concensus favorite?" I think it has to be White's Creek! And relative to the depth of our team and the prospects for the next few years, I believe FHS will be one of the top 3 teams in the District for at least the next two years! Will CHS be there? I'm sure that the Cougar faithfull will chime in!!
  3. A win against HL should be a given. A #1 sure shouldn't lose to a #4. But we better not take HL for granted. I think that FHS vs. McGavock is a toss up. One can debate the pros & cons till the cows come home. It "should" be a close game. I think that we can count on our Seniors to step up. We just need 2-3 Sophomores and/or Juniors to do the same and we will survive the Region tournament for the first time in many years. It is "possible" that we could beat Whites Creek if we make it to the finals but I wouldn't put money on it. I would just be thrilled to see FHS make it to the sub-state. Get a good draw there and we could be driving to "THE BORO" about 2 weeks later. GOOD LUCK REBELS!!!
  4. You might want to double-check your line-ups from last year, especially the Clarksville game & the 1st Hillsboro game. And two years ago??? Don't think Glover was starting much then either. But if Coach J says it's so, it must be so.
  5. Franklin "should" beat Hunters Lane in Game #1, but then again, they should have beat them last year in the Region game. I believe that FHS also matches up well against McGavock. Siske was out most of that against McG and was not much of a factor. Barring another "30' bank shot @ the buzzer", I predict a hard-fought FHS win. That leaves FHS & Whites Creek in the finals, playing for home court advantage in the Sub-State game.Could this be the year that FHS finally makes it back to THE BORO???? Time will tell.
  6. Well, you called this one right. Except it was Glass, Batt & Glover who had big games. And how about that CRAZY throw-down by Batt from the lob pass by ??? The gym was absolutely buzzing after that for the next couple of minutes!!!
  7. Well, I'm one FHS fan that will admit that we are a different team down low w/o Siske. I believe his impact will be especially felt next week in the Region Tournament. For Franklin to get to the Region finals & possibly The Boro, they must do so with a total team effort. But let's talk a bit about last night's game. Did anyone happen the see the stats for Gabe Glass in last night's game. He started both halves by just lighting it up! FHS is much more than just Batt, Young & Glover. I was also impressed with the play last night by Jamal Starnes, another fine young talent @ FHS.(Sophomore) In his few minutes on the floor, he chipped in 8 points and did very well in the rebounding department. I predict that the FHS vs Centennial game will be pretty close. It is tough to beat a team 3 times. And without Siske in there, it could be anyone's game to win or lose. I predist a 5 point or less margin of victory for _______?????
  8. I didn't know that Siske tore his ACL. It looked like he came down from a rebound limping but it didn't look like anything major. IMHO, that doesn't bode too well for us come REgion tournament time!!
  9. Ditto here. Kuchar & Kelly are very deserving. Go Rebels - Go TEAM!!!
  10. Scott Saunders (the Rice recruit) played much better as he scored 23 this time around vs. a mere 11 points in the first match-up. Siske was still out of the FHS line-up. With him in there, I doubt that Saunders would have been such a force on the boards. But, no doubt about it, BGA played a much better game this time around.
  11. I don't believe that there are any undefeated teams in our District nor our Region so, yes, FHS is beatable. I don't know that Indy or Centennial showed that as much as McGavock & Mt. Juliet did. If FHS is at full strength, I don't think they will lose a District Tournament game IMHO.
  12. I think that it will be a Ravenwood vs FHS battle with CHS a close third. I've always been impressed with Ravenwood's coaching. Contrary to some, I'm not so sure that FHS has "THE COACH", but Coach J is certainly a good coach. And FHS has a lot of depth with some talented sophmores that mostly saw JV action. But it just seems like Ravenwood gets so much out of whaever talent they put on the floor or the field. It should be another fun year of hoops in 2007-08.
  13. I would be carefull about that "will always be the better team" boast there. It might be very difficult to beat a pretty tallented CHS team a 3rd time in District or Region competition. I sort of hope that they get another shot at us. And I've never seen Coach J make a winning basket from the sidelines but I saw FHS throw the ball away with 34 seconds left to give Centennial a shot at the win. It is unfortunate, but it seems like a lot of close games come down to a questionable call or calls or no-calls late in the game. But the intentional on L. Harris was not the deal braker. The game was pretty well won by FHS by that time. GREAT GAME by both teams. I look forward to seeing each of you in the District & Region tournaments.
  14. I agree that Lamonte Harris was the guy that kept CHS in the game during the 4th quarter. If nor for him, Ravenwood would have won by 5-10.
  15. What was the recipe against lowly (5 wins, 9 losses) Ravenwood? I think that the Raptors won that Cooking Contest!!!
  16. I would vote for Deontre Siske (aka Redbone) over Young for this team. I agree with you for Batt @ the MVP spot. He has been the most consistant player this year except for a couple of games in December.
  17. Yep, all FHS needs to do is show up & play their game. We will shut down Kelly just like we did @ their house. I don't believe that any amount of offense from Drew or Lamonte is going to shut down THE REBELS. Lamonta has had problems with grades since middle school. It is unlikely that he'll be playing @ "the next level" unless he has a 30 ACT score in his hip pocket. I predict a Senior Night win by at least 15. Then we have a short drive around the corner to BGA to wrap up the regular season & head to the District Tournament. We are almost guaranteed a finals appearance there and then it's off to Ravenwood HS for the Regions. We should have one fairly easy game & then it gets real serious in One and Done Land. Make it to the finals there and it will be considered one heckuva "rebuilding"year. Make it to the Boro and I'll be pleasantly surprised. GO REBELS!!
  18. Yep, a few more made 4th quarter freethrows or 1 less 4th quarter turnover and we don't have to worry about the refs in the last minute of the Mt. Juliet game, the 1st Indy game or the Mcgavock game. IMHO, the refs had called a pretty darn good game until the 4th quarter. And those two "no-calls" in the last 10 seconds were especially costly. Hopefully the players (and coaches) will learn from these experiences and be ready as they approach "One & Done" Tournament Time. Go REBELS!!!
  19. Both of your points are valid. That was a big game @ Indy and yes, they had some awesome shooters. I don't think that we showed the defensive intensity like we have in the past. We've got to defend their guards / wings and cut off their passing lanes. It seems like in the second half all of the FHS points came off of lay-ups & 3's. There were some great assists by FHS. Oh well, let's get FIRED UP to play Centennial!!
  20. We'll see how weak or strong our District is when it is determined who is going to Sub-State. I wouldn't put much weight on some game last June. We beat Hunters Lane handily two Junes ago then lost to them in the Regions last year. Batt was out most of the 2nd & 3rd quarter. Don't know if he's still fighting the Flu or not. Siske came up hobbling in the 2nd quarter & didn't play much the 2nd half. If Ryan Glover had not had such a big 2nd half with 5 or 6 3-pointers, it could have gotten ugly. We'll be ready come tournament time!!
  21. Mcgavock is inbounding the ball on their baseline with 6.9 seconds & FHS ahead 75 to 74. McGavock hits a 3-pointer after what looked to me like an obvious push off by the shooter. What a time for all 3 refs to swallow their whistles. Perhaps we'll get another shot at them in the Regional Tournament
  22. Way to go Rebels!! It was time for Glover to step up. And Derek is getting more consistent to compensate for Redbone's up & down play. If Siske & Glass can step up and show some Senior leadership @ tournament time, Franklin may be unbeatable come the District tournament and might give Antioch or Whites Creek a tough time @ the Regions! McGavock comes into the Rebel's house tonight. They are, I believe, 3rd in their district. Should be a good indication of what we can expect in the Region tournament. Keep up the good work Franklin!!!!
  23. I haven't seen BA play this year, so my District 11AAA/Williamson Co. Dream Team - in no particular order - would be: Kuchar (Indy) Kelly (CHS) Siske (FHS) Harris (CHS Batt (FHS)
