  1. Franklin's offense will key around getting the ball to Haddix or hitting shots from the perimeter. Hopefully, the Rebels will shoot better than 36% from the field this game with a big night on the O-boards from Haddix. I expect a low-scoring game as well. I'll predict Franklin - 45, Beech - 41 GO REBELS See you in "The Boro"!!!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  2. Your prediction was very close! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  3. It will be a battle of the "BIG MEN"!! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  4. Kelly seems to have found a home on the football field. His size & build tends to lend itself better to the gridiron, IMHO. TC Jennings didn't do much on the hardwood. Is he still footballing @ AR. State. I wasn't impressed with what I saw from Matt Dotson 3-4 years ago either. I think he had 5 pts. the other night in Belmont's loss to Peay. That "trio of guards from Franklin" and their supporting cast did a pretty good job of shutting Kelly down his freshman & sophomore years. I believe that 15-20+ pt. wins were the norm for FHS those years. He had pretty weak ball handlers @ the guard positions those years. When Kelly was trapped, we stole a lot of those lob passes that they tried to get into him. No doubt that Kelly is talented and a force to be reckonned with. I don't know about the best in district for years prop though. I was pretty impressed with the raw talent that the Dickson HS kid had(Pfleiger?? - went to Rice Univ., I believe) But now that I think of it, they may not have been in our district. Of course, Brandon Wright was in a league of his own. (and Div II) The matchup between FHS Big Man James Haddix & Kelly should be interesting this year. I believe that Haddix will get more confidence with every game. It's a shame that he didn't get more playing time last year. Young & McLemore should be fun to watch this year as well! Hopefully, FHS can finally make a run to "The Boro" this year. Yahoo - it's basketball season again!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> GO REBELS!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  5. I say that the Rebels win by at least 2 TD's! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> It might be a close game till the 3rd quarter. The Rebels don't need to take Indy for granted. Time for some payback for last year!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  6. No matter if it's football or basketball, FHS has found ways to "re-load" their talent pool in recent years, even when a strong batch of Seniors walked out the door. On the football side, seems like we always have some speedy receivers and some bone crushing running backs. Some years we have some big linemen and other years not so big. Of course, Quarterback is a big question mark for next year. But I understand that we have another "Mikrut" being groomed to step in @ QB. He's a sophmore now. There are probably other talents in the wings that we don't know about. I think that another key factor is the "chemistry" that Coach Clayton has been able to build. He's still a pretty new coach @ FHS but the Football team chemistry seems to get better each year that Coach C is there. Ther's a lot to be said about what "heart" and "chemistry" will do for you when you get a few bad breaks or the game just isn't going your way. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> But lets not waste much time guessing about next year. There's a BIG GAME to be played tomorrow!! [/size]GO REBELS!!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  7. Yes, there have been some excellent FHS vs Ravenwood games in their relatively short rivalry. And it's a good thing since CHS and BHS hasn't done much to "step it up" in recent games! That outta get some comments!! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> It's great for Williamson County football to have a game like this. I'll bet that the stands will be packed! See ya at the game! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  8. I love the offense that Coach Crawford has put together. Very exciting to watch. Much more exciting than the 3 runs then punt and wait for the other team to lose a turn-over some time in the game.(like we used to do) Our FHS defense has some weaknesses but that is the easiest part to fix. Look to see those adjustments against Ravenwood. Two great defenses get you a 0-0 tie. I'll take the offensive excitement of the FHS running backs and air attack any day. IMHO, Hillsboro was fortunate to get those last two scores. They had a little "help" with one of them. Soooo, I believe that it will be a high scoring affair. Franklin in the high 30's - maybe even 40+. Ravenwood in the 20's at best. But like they say, actions speak louder than words. GO REBELS!! PS: BigDog - you're so right about Campbell. Haven't heard much talk about him @ UT the last 2 years. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  9. No, Williamson County isn't that weak but Antioch HS is that strong. They should go far in The Boro. IMHO, FHS has not utilized the post player talent this year which they have. After the District loss to Hillsboro, Coach J said that they shouldn't have to live by the 3 or die by it. And yet, he's used the same 4 out - one in rotating type offense ever sense he's been there. Thus, a team with post talent like Antioch can run over a team like FHS if their 3's aren't falling. FHS should come back strong next year with all starters returning. Go Rebels! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  10. This is a very good post, CHS. It's true that Franklin's depth to the tune of 8 or 9 guys that would start on many other teams is truly their strength. And their unselfish play over the last 2-3 years has gotten them past quite a few "Metro" teams in Region play that didn't have such depth or teamwork attitude. There's no doubt that Antioch & possibly Maplewood could be tough challenges for the Rebels. Is this the year that they finally make it to "The Boro"??? We shall know in a few weeks. GO REBELS!!!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  11. I believe it was a big mistake during the last few minutes of the game for Coach Kelly to pull Drew out to the top of the key on defense and then back out front on offense to isolate him and then try to drive and shoot. He missed the shot & with the score 58 to 52 in Franklin's favor, it then became a foul-fest. I believe that Kelley was still not 100% back from his foot injury. I think that the game on Feb 28 which will be Senior Night @ CHS will be a much tougher match-up. I thought that our 2-3 zone defense did a better job of containing Kelly in the 2nd half. In the first quarter, our weak-side help was too slow to come over and help. I would love to see 6'8" James Haddix in the middle of that 2-3 fronting Kelly to see how that might disrupt the lob passes into him. Hopefully, Jamal won't mis-handle so many passed in the next 2 match ups. (although one of the bullet passes sure wasn't his fault) We will probably get another shot at each other come District tournament time. Should be fun!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GO REBELS /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  12. What's up with ya'll raggin our step team??? It was a great game to watch. Much better than the FOOTBALL games. And I suspect that Kelly's foot was not 100%. The season ending game @ CHS should be even more exciting. A win by CHS would set up an awesome tie-breaker in the District tournament! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  13. After that exciting 17 - 17 tie @ the end of one, CHS took a 21 to 20 lead into the half. Can you believe that 3 points for FHS & 4 for CHS in the 2Q. Then franklin started to pull away in the 3Q with 25 points (go figure) to take a 45 to 39 lead that they would never give up. Final margin of victory: FHS - 64 / CHS - 57!! WAY TO GO - REBELS /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Should be a great game on Friday. Let's fill the Rebel gym early and get the chants goin between CHS & Franklin. May the best team win - hopefully with no injuries!! GO REBELS!!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  15. I agree Philly, Franklin's depth should assure them of the victory. But if FHS lets CHS keep hanging close, like they did Brentwood & The Burros, I think that could spell trouble. We may find ourselves in a 4th quarter see-saw battle & realize that we miss the kind of Senior Leadership that we've enjoyed for the last 2-3 years. Hopefully, FHS will pull out to an early double digit lead and then maintain it with their depth! GO REBELS!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. Well, it's almost SHOWTIME! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> The REBELS warm up against The Burros on Tues. & then it's time to RUMBLE! The Rebel gym should be packed on Friday. Will the Rebels feast on CHS again? /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> What do you think???
  17. It's a bit early to be talking about going to "THE BORO" but FHS will hopefully win their D11 conference & then meet Antioch HS in the Region finals. There, they will be playing for Home Court advantage for the Sub-State game. If we lose, we gotta go to Clarksville again and face a talented team. Hopefully, we won't get our butt kicked like last year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Time will tell!! GO REBELS!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. I believe that the FHS depth, size & outside shooting will provide a win by 15+ points. But who knows? We'll just have to see what Friday brings!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> Go Rebels
  19. Hopefully, we'll beat Independance again on Friday. But beating the West TN team will be a pretty tall order. Again, it usually takes the footballers a couple of weeks to transition from football shape to basketball shape and to get their shots down a bit. Ask anyone who has done it. Good luck to ya'll from now till mid-January. If both teams are still undefeated in the District, it will make for another very interesting "Battle of Franklin". /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  20. If you want to compare the score of a scrimmage vs a game to give yourself a false sense of security, knock yourself out. FHS has 4-5 hoopsters still playing Football including one key starter. Here's another score to boost your confidence. We beat BGA by 14 tonight while ya'll beat em by 20. Sooo, I gueass that pretty much guarantees /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> a win for CHS over FHS in Jan . by at least six points. These numbers games are pretty pointless. We won't see what FHS or any hoops team has that is still playing football until at least 2 weeks after their last football game. Oh, that's right, the CHS football season ended 3-4 weeks ago, didn't it!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. WRONG /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  22. Jim, you might as well just get used to it. CHS will be on their high horse until Jan. 18. Hopefully, that is when they will get the first of several "attitude adjustments" from the FHS Rebels. (like last year) But until then, let em dream!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. With both teams deep with talent, it may come down to discipline, coaching and HEART. Go FHS Rebels!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  24. That sounds about right. I think that Kelly averaged 30+ last year. He may bump it up to 35+ average this year. I believe that FHS has kept him in the teens or low 20's during most of our games against Centennial for the last 2 years. Check the stats if you have access to them. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Any team that fronts Kelly with a big man and then goes after the lob pass into him will have an impact on his "usual" scoring level. He is definitely a talented young man. But weak guard play in years past has cost CHS a number of victories. Maybe this year will be different. Good luck to all of the District 11-AAA teams. I would dearly love to see one of ya'll playing in "The 'Boro!!" /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. Where is the scrimmage - FHS or Antioch? Starting @ what time?
