  1. I believe the Franklin freshman team is doing well. They've got size & they've got some excellent shooters @ the wing.
  2. I'm pretty sure that R-E and Mitchell are ranked in the Southeast portion of the USA Today prep poll. NOTE: Except for Brentwood Acad., no other middle or E. TN prep team made the USA-TD poll. As mentioned before, what counts is getting to The Boro & then performing there. Don't sweat the polls. They are usually heavily influenced by certain individuals with limited knowledge of state-wide talent levels.
  3. Congrats to Hendersonville! This makes their district race much more interesting. Wow, Beech only 33 points. Hey, HHS, how did you do it?
  4. Michael Mikrut led the Rebels as they rained 3's on Columbia. FHS wins 72 to 58. But the Rebels were not able to stop Columbia's big man, Clint Marable who led all scorers with 23. Next week the Rebels finally get to play Williamson Co. rival, Ravenwood. Then they get a visit from Antioch, which might be a good game. We'll see.
  5. Actually, we had a few post players last year (remember Jeff Barnes?) and we have a few this year (Pamplin, Batt, Redbone, etc) But the coach and the guards better figure out how to get them involved in the offense with a little inside-outside strategy or your prediction of the season ending like the last 2 (in the Regionals) could well come true. And it would be nice to actually play a little 2-post offense. But again, a lot of our success could key around our smothering defense. Our speed & depth could be hard to match if we would just use the talents and depth that we have.
  6. I'll tell you at a game some time. You are "Pumpkin", the one and only - right?
  7. I agree, we need stronger post play. I wonder why we don't get more production in the paint from Batt or Pamplin? Come Regionals, we will need to compliment our strong guard play with some decent post play or we'll be in trouble!
  8. Yep, the Columbia game should be a good test. If we'll just play to our ability, more like the 1st quarter tonight, then we should win by 10+. I would like to see us put out a 90+ point performance. We could press (full or 1/2 court trap) and rotate players and, I believe, beat anyone else on our schedule easily.

  10. 2p, Thank you for finally talking about the game!! Sounds like a great game. Wow, that free throw difference was huge. You sure can't call that "Home Cookin". And not a singe 3-pointer for Oakland? WOW Was it a fast paced game? Did anyone press? (full court or trap?) How did Oakland handle Ramsey and no one get into foul trouble? Thanks again!
  11. Ooops, did I really? Just a little pun. Tryin to get someone to tell me about their Oakland game instead of the frackas (sp?) afterwards.
  12. Hey, I'm chillin. Just wanted to hear a little about the people on the floor that counted. (i.e. the players - not the crazies afterwards) Soooo, any Oakland folks who were at the game want to share with us any of the keys to your victory?
  13. Who r you, Pumpkin? Were you at the game?(maybe down @ the end of the bench?)
  14. If Seagull had won. I'll bet the SN would have a lot more to say. It's a shame that you'll spend two pages talkin about the poor post-game behavior and not discuss how Oakland pulled this upset with Ramsey back 100%?
  15. How many did Ramsey get? How did Oakland stop him?
  16. Congrats, Beech I figured that MJ could give em a run for their money. Things should get pretty interesting in several Regions, come tournament time.
  17. Ten pages of pre-game posts & that's all anyone has to say? Oakland stepped up and won? Don't make me wait till the Tennessean comes out!!
  18. Sooo, coulld we focus a bit on the game. Who stepped up? Who didn't show up? What were some keys to the Oakland win?
  19. Franklin spotted CHS the first 5 points then went on an 18-0 run before ending the first quarter ahead 21 - 9. The blowout continued in the 2Q and the halftime score was 37 - 15. Derek Anderson had an BIG game as the Rebels coasted to a 70 - 35 victory. Next up is a tough Columbia Central team tomorrow night.
  20. Hopefully, the losses by FHS will make them a better team, in the long run. In one of the losses they "died by the three". I believe that 43 were thrown. Why they didn'y come to play is a mystery to me. The forwards will need to "step up" or it could be another "Regional" demise for the Rebels.
  21. Yep, if Ravenwood wins, it would be a major upset. (but I like upsets - as long as it doesn't involve FHS)
  22. Derek played yesterday in Franklin's 58 to 43 win over Belleville West, IL at the Centralia, IL tournament. His shot was off but at least he's "back in the saddle". His confidence will return, perhaps today as FHS faces a tough Mt. Vernon, IL team @ 12:30pm. FHS is now 14-0!! Go REBELS!!
  23. Yep, that looks pretty accurate. Oakland, Beech and Lavergne can earn their way into the top 5 and each of the top 5 have to work to maintain their position, week in & week out.
