  1. Wow, It sounded like he was going to be able to make it back. That is a big hit. Definately have other players with being so deep in rotation, but after watching him for two years I know things would be way better if he was there. Alot of fans just pay attention to points, but, as most on here know, some players make contributions that are not always on a stat sheet. When he is on the floor the defense has always got to be close enough to close out. That opens up offensive boards (Jancek,Scott) who are relentless on the boards, and driving lanes for others. (Anderson, Reeder). Just by his presence (reputation)he puts more pressure on a defense. He is also good defensively. I hope he can make it back
  2. AE has only won 4 out of their last 18, CAK should roll Alcoa has played well considering their distractions this year but Carter is 11-3 since the 55point drubbing and also beat Alcoa by 19 not long ago. Carter should win. Kingston is facing a Fulton team that has only lost 1 game in its last 21, and that to Oak Ridge by 1. Fulton will Advance The one game, imo that has a chance to have an upset could be GP and Catholic. I believe that Catholic will win but they scare me. Catholic seems to play to many close games whether it's a good team or a bad team. Over half of their games have been decided by single digits. Alot of that has to do with their tough schedule but for some reason things seem to always be close. They really need Luke Smith back if they are going to go deep. Just his presence on the floor will open up alot for others. GP has 18 wins but really only 2 big wins. I believe CAK, Carter, Fulton, and Catholic move on. The next round: Losing to CAK means Catholic gets to play Fulton to soon. I believe Fulton will win Wow, CAK and Carter "toss up" I believe CAK will win a close one. imo Championship: I believe Fulton wins Region over CAK, but I wouldn't say CAK can't win. It's just hard to pick against the Falcons. This is just my humble opinion, and you know how basketball goes, anyone can win when things go right.
  3. I agee with Qsouth the game really seemed tight at the start. there was a lot of energy which usually helps the defensive side of the ball. The top scorer for Catholic was held to probably his season low. The 2-3 seemed to be ran with an empahsis to contest certain shooters and leave others open to see if they could hit. Smith didn't get good open looks from the arc. He had alot of drives where he got to the basket and didn't finish. Probably fouled a few times but it seemed the ref's were letting both teams play physical. Smith didn't miss by much when he was in the paint. If just some of those roll in it could have been a different outcome. Number 22, which I believe is Anderson, looked and played like a big time basketball player. I just watched him for while with and without the ball. He hustled the whole time and was always getting in the right spot especially for O-rebounds. I also watched him on the foul lane he was very physical and hard to handle even when Catholic was shooting foul shots and he started behind the other guy. Even when he missed a shot you could tell he just looked like he shot with confidence. If a team decides to take away your best scorer (Smith) others have to step up. Maybe this was just one of those games where others were off, if not I am sure other teams will try the same thing. I will say this, just because some one runs a 2-3 doesn't mean they will have the same effect, CAK is a very talented, fast and determined defensive team. The atmosphere was great and I'm sure the next game will be just as good. CAK missed some key foul shots that may have put the game away sooner. At this point CAK looks like they have the best team in the district. It will be interesting after adjustments have been made. Also Josh Dobbs showed up, which was pretty cool.
  4. Has anyone else ran a zone against Catholic this year, or was that just another great adjustment by Coach Wells? Catholic really seemed to struggle against it.
  5. Definitely would have to pick Carter over Scott GP went 2-7 down the stretch but so did Catholic and Catholics wins were Scott and Kingston. Catholic seems to play everyone close but can't finish. Would have to pick GP over Catholic The others are toss ups but I'll give a prediction. Alcoa over AE Fulton over CAK With that said, I'm still hoping the Highlanders pull off the upset. I love basketball and it has been fun watching all of the action this season. Can't wait for the rest to get started.
  6. It is more encouraging than fulton or AE. But if either of our teams Scott/Catholic can't score any better than last night it will be tough no matter who we play. I mean 18-18 at the half. Carter can score our combined in a single qtr. But I have to admit it does make it more interesting.
  7. Thanks to everyone who is praying about Austin Morrow. wbir channel 10 has a video on this, along with a clip of the play where it happened. Still in serious condition, but stable. Highlanders beat Kingston tonight to move to 3-3 in the District with Catholic. We got two games with CAK left and they look like their hitting a pretty good stride. Meyers had 24 tonight Butts had 18 Butts had 32 last night against Alcoa and had 23 Monday at Sweetwater
  8. Thanks for those praying. He has a lacerated kidney. Reports are that the bleeding has stopped which means it can heal on its own If not they will have to do surgery, which could mean he could lose his kidney. So right now reports are looking better. "Please Keep praying" Thanks
  9. Yes, we appreciate her help. Right now he is in ICU. He has internal bleeding and a very badly damaged kidney. They are trying to save the kidney at this point. "Please continue to pray and pass on to anyone else you know that will pray" Thanks
  10. Hey, in the Scott Alcoa game tonight a young man was injured. He is being flown to ut hospital with internal injuries. "Please Pray" I will post update in the morning as soon as I hear something. "Please Pray"
  11. Highlanders got blew out by Claiborne co. tonight. CC hit 11 3's jumped up early. Scott stayed with-in 9 or 10 till late. We pulled starters. CC left starters in and stretched out to about twenty. We have been struggling defensively and it showed tonight. CC played well and shot well. They look very good offensively. I would like to hear some updates on other teams in the district. Is there anyone going to some of the other games that could update?
  12. Yeah, that will be a tough thing to check that early in the season. Scott only had one football player and Scott got beat the first round of the playoffs. The rest of the team has been together for a while now.
  13. After playing Clinton, Scott has been playing some single A schools. Played Jellico last night. Jellico has a good team and looks like they may make some noise in their district. Scott won by 10. Post players are looking stronger each game. The two guards are playing exceptionally well. They feed off of each other and pass to each other very well. The point guard, Butts, had 30 points last night and hit 7 out of 10 three's. I believe the 2-guard Logan Lowe had 19 or 20 as well. Scott has Claiborne Co. and Coalfield this week. I believe they play their first district game Dec 6 against the Irish. Should be able to see if they are for real then.
