Lakelyn Bouldin has taken her team to sub state twice; once as an 8th grader when she was moved up to play 4 games at the high school level averaging over 20 points per game; the second time was last year. These are the only 2 times that VB girls basketball has made a sub state appearance. Van Buren County Sophomore Lakelyn Bouldin scored her 1000th point tonight. This is a huge accomplishment for this hard-working athlete. Lakelyn has a bright future ahead of her.

Van Buren played a good game with good effort. Quarter scores were 1st quarter JC 19 - VB 14; 2nd JC 36 - VB 25; 3rd JC 50 - VB 35; 4th JC 59 - VB 52. Yes JC ran about 4 different offensive plays during the game, no JC didn't press in the 2nd half, but they were not successful with their press in the first half. Jim Brown seemed concerned in the fourth quarter when he took a time out and gave his players a good chewing. Coe fouled out in the fourth quarter, how often does that happen? VB may not be on everyone's radar, but they can make waves. They have the potential and when and if each player gets on their top game it could be a bad day for any team. VB is a young team with only 1 senior and 2 juniors on the team. Wouldn't say its a team to take for granted.

Bouldin has had 14 double doubles this season out of 23 games so far

Van Buren's freshman Lakelyn Bouldin deserves mention in Class A.....she has good stats for a freshman averaging 10 boards a game, over 20 pts a game, 80 % free throw shooter, all around player both offensive and defensive. She moved up after her 8th grade season last year and made an impression in the 4 games she played and has continued to work hard her freshman year.
