  1. My biased Baylor parent predictions- 106- Michael Murphy - I am surpised at how many people are taking Chalifoux here. Murphy has yet to lose to a DII compeitior all season. He is simply the best wrestler at the weight 113- Oliver 120- Eckhart 126- Gray, watch Standifer though as a darkhorse...could be a contender if he gets hot at the right time, he owns a 2-1 record all time against Gray (with Gray winning the most recent of the matches) 132- Brunner, will rise to the occasion as ALWAYS, aka Mr. Febrary! 138- Sutherland 145- Marchetti 152- Simpson.... I mean Baker LOL! 160- Popp 170- Walthall, in a match with Parker that is closer than many may expect 182- Clements, how can you not take him in a rematch in his senior year??? Hoodenpyle will have trouble beating the Tarheel twice 195- Garsin, Norrad a darkhorse to make the finals here... only lost to Garstin and McOlgan by 3 points each 220- Mason 285- Robertson As much as I would love to see the Baylor School come out on top, it's going to be hard for anyone to knock of this talented group of Brothers. Nevertheless, I'm proud of these Baylor boy's effort this season. Especially Cole Holloway and Caleb Powell whom competed in the Duals despite having medical permission. May be a different story if you add those two in the mix, but it was a valiant effort to say the least. Now it's time for some individuals to achieve their dreams. Go Big Red!
  2. really? do you not realize the the emphasis placed on the baylor / mccallie rivalry? why would a coach try to get a ref to repeal a team win in the biggest rivalry in the south? for any dual meet for that matter? come on! i can assure you the mccallie coaches would have done the same thing ben nelson did in this situation... nothing. with that being said, i do disagree with the penalty deduction on elsea of mccallie. the kid posted a come from behind victory to end a 16 match losing streak against a rival school... but a win is a win, ugly or not, TBSFBAG will take it! Go Big Red!
  3. I would suspect that Ryan tried to avoid that match up if anything... why would you put your best wrestler up against baker where he would lose? They were smart and wrestled him in a match where he was guaranteed to score points vs. wasting him against super stud baker. And baylor's 160 is bryson popp, 170 ryan parker, 182 houston clements
  4. Without a doubt, post of the year! "School behind the crack house..." LOL! That's a good one right there!
  5. Under #1 Soddy Daisy, the information reads "only losses to Christian Brothers & Pope (GA)." This information is incorrect. January 15, 2013, The Baylor School defeated #1 Soddy Daisy. Go Big Red!
  6. Also, I doubt the EBE would have had a snowball's chance in heck of knocking off Soddy regardless of who they had in their lineup...
  7. Blaike Henry (injured), Josh Deckleman (no longer part of program) Go Big Red!
  8. Interesting. January 15, 2013, THE Baylor School defeated the #1 public school team in the state (Soddy Daisy) while missing FIVE starters... yes... 5 as in the number before 6 and after 4... Knowing this information, I'll agree with the conspirator. McCallie by 20! LOL!
  9. Oleblue, I have witnessed Cole Holloway wrestle matches at 145 this year. As a matter of fact, Cole complied a 4-0 record at the Lafayette duals earlier in the year competing at 145. On another note, I hate to see an adult make personal attacks toward a high school kid. Especially someone who has as big of a heart as Houston Clements. My son has looked up to Houston for years. I don't think it's fair to question the kid's toughness knowing he has battled more injuries himself than many teams see in a whole season. I recall Houston tearing his achilles tendon in a football game last year, but magically he made it back for the end of the wrestling season. Sounds like a tough cookie to me! He doesn't seem like the type of kid to have missed this much wrestling this year if his neck injury weren't pretty serious. Back to the point of this thread, Here's my picks... 106 Murphy maj Cornell 4-0 B 113 Westbrook maj Canada 4-4 120 Alex Elsea tech Reynolds 9-4 M (Powell could possibly be back at 120, which would make for an interesting match here 126 Standifer dec Boyd 9-7 M 132 Brunner dec Connell 10-9 B 138 Sutherland dec Davis 13-9 B 145 Holloway pin Jones 19-9 B 152 Garron dec Patton 22-9 B 160 Popp pin Mcroskey 28-9 B 170 Parker pin Bong 34-9 B 182 Clements dec Hoodenpyle 37-9 B 195 Norred dec Roberts 40-9 B 220 Cook dec Schmissrauter 40-12 B 285 Thomas forfeit 46-12 B I know I'm biased, but with Baylor having a majority of their injured wrestlers back in the lineup, they are a completely different team than the group that wrestled at the Prep Slam. McCallie will need to win ALL of the swing matches in order to avoid another W in favor of Baylor's streak.
  10. Noogawrestling, I agree that if Baylor wrestled with the same lineup at the prep slam that McCallie would win, but with Holloway, Sutherland, Clements, and possibly Powell all back that sure changes things drastically. I would expect to see Sutherland at 138, and Holloway at 145 Friday. Although, I hear Brunner is wanting to move up to 138 due to the weight cut and Holloway is wanting to move down. So a lot of things can change from now until the state tournament with a 3 way wrestle off. As for Houston, I heard he was winning the wrestle off with Popp until he had to pull out of the match due to injury. With Popp now being the permanent 160, my son, who is on the team, confirmed Houston is jumping all the way to 182. So with a beat up and injury prone team, Coach Nelson might be precautionary and not even hold a wrestle offs for 138 and simply pick weights for the kids... a lot of unknowns right now at Baylor. But if all can get healthy, look for Baylor to be a true contender down the stretch.
  11. I have been a long time follower of the board and felt tonight might be a great opportunity for me to start posting. I understand Soddy might have been missing a few guys, but WHAT A WIN FOR SUCH A YOUNG BAYLOR TEAM! BAYLOR 35, SODDY DAISY 33 Match started at 160 Pounds 106 Michael Murphy B pinned Jacob McClure 1:34 113 Chase Payne SD dec. Jack Reynolds 7-3 120 Jacob Stevens SD won by forfeit 126 Tucker Russo SD won by forfeit 132 Nick Standefer B pinned Joshua Stiles 1:47 138 Brandon Brunner B pinned Austin Williamson 1:40 145 Gage Richmond SD pinned Turner Troxel :33 152 Turbo Smith SD pinned Aidon Garron 1:47 160 Bryson Popp B dec. Branndon Hunt 3-2 170 Ryan Parker B won by technical fall over Hunter Maynor 5:50 182 Garrett Alexander SD pinned Winston Cooper 1:31 195 Emory Norred B dec. Tyler Hixson 10-3 220 Jon Schmissrauter B dec. Luke Reno 6-3 285 Will Thomas B dec. Cody Grant 5-3 Keep an eye on these boys as February rolls around... Coach Nelson is pulling some of his horses out of the stable. From what I heard in the stands tonight you can expect to see a Baylor team with Canada back at 113, Powell 120, Holloway (yes Cole...got a great report last week) at 138, Sutherland at 145, and Clements bumping all the way to 182. With these five back in the lineup look for a young Baylor team to give CBHS all they can handle come February. GO BIG RED! And congrats Coach Nelson on the impressive win tonight!
