  1. Do you not think much of the OR defense or do you think the Clinton offense is very good...or both?
  2. Our line on offense is new and our qb is new. I'll go with OR 33 - Clinton 13
  3. Oh no. Thanks. I'll find out what's going on.
  4. I hear we have one this coming Friday evening but not sure if it's at the school or at the Ship.
  5. How about the new coach Gaddis brought in?
  6. I saw that and I love those young guys. Tray Jackson can fly. I saw him at practice today. Graham is like lightning. If our line is good, it could be a special group
  7. Thank you. I just called a guy and he said it was those two for sure. They're going to be good
  8. Do you know who the young receivers were that looked pretty good ?
  9. I very much agree with you. I'm just happy it looks like the QB can get the ball to the receivers. Also, the fact that Graham can catch the ball so well that the offense is going to be better. I don't think we will be pretty good early but maybe real good later
  10. I saw the first three games Saturday and what I've read so far reflects what I saw. Stewart is going to be pretty good. Tee said Gaddis wouldn't let him play but he expects to practice this week. Gaddis is taking him to some therapy guy to try to get him well. Graham looked great. I didn't know he had such good hands. A couple of young guys looked good too but I'm not sure of their names. Overall, it was a good day. This team will be good but it may stumble early but come playoff time watch out
  11. December 6, 1991, 7:30, Dan Y. Boring Stadium and it was anything but boring. This was the best football game I have ever witnessed (I actually played in it) at any level of football, especially given what was at stake. I've never seen a more jam packed stadium and I've never heard a louder crowd and the volume was constant throughout the entire game. I promise you that the fans from each team were totally exhausted when the game was over. I'm thankful and proud that I was a small part of it. I witnessed a great player (Shawn Summers) play the game of his life and I witnessed a great coach (Gaddis) make all the right moves to just barely pull out a victory. There were many other very important players and coaches who were critical to this monumental victory, but make no mistake about it, that these two guys carried this team. Just being around them made you just KNOW that we (Oak Ridge) was going to win. They each had their own swagger and their own brand of confidence that was infectious. Shawn Summers played the best football game I've ever seen anyone play and he did it when the most pressure was on and he did it on the biggest stage. Todd Helton played an amazing game as well. I've NEVER seen a better performance by two stars in a game of that magnitude and the two teams were simply incredible. It's too bad that game wasn't the championship game. Gaddis actually probably did his best coaching job the next week as he prepared us emotionally for Gallatin. We really felt a letdown after the semifinal game, as strange as that sounds. Great game, great atmosphere, great memories, and it's too bad anyone had to lose such a great game. What a game.......42-41 in OT with a spot in the state championship game on the line. Chris Turner....big time block of a PAT with the season on the line. Thank God I'm a WILDCAT!!!!!
  12. Here's my take on it. Todd Helton was a good choice and Shawn Summers would've been a good choice. The voting took place before the semifinal game (at least that's what we were told back then) and had it been done AFTER the semifinal game, then Summers would've won the award because of what he did in that game and then leading his team to the state title. So for the record, I would've voted for Helton prior to the semifinal game (which is when it took place I think), and I would've voted for Summers had the vote occurred after the semifinal game.
  13. As a football player, I wasn't looking for an academic leader. Shawn didn't say much but his actions spoke louder than words. He was a very hard worker and a great competitor. I found myself not wanting to let him down.
  14. We do agree that Helton was a fantastic athlete. I'm not sure about the running back comment though. It's for sure there are two teams he couldn't have played running back for..........OR and Central. But I must agree that he's one of the top high school athletes to ever come out of Tennessee.
  15. I played on the 91 team and I know Shawn. I can tell you that Mr Football wasn't as important to Shawn as winning the state title. In fact, I'm sure he did but I never recall him even talking about Mr Football. I don't understand why any true OR football fan would try to belittle or downplay the accomplishments of Shawn Summers. Bladerunner would've done it and now RWK. Both were great players and both had very talented teammates. One beat the other 4 out of 5 times. I'm an OR fan yet I can't say anything bad about Helton other than he shouldn't have made the pitch that RB intercepted and I sure as he## can't say anything bad about Shawn. And I also knew Todd and I'll promise you he remembers.
  16. The Graham kid is fast for sure but didn't we finish like 9th or 10th in that relay? Are the other kids just kinda fast?
  17. I've heard contradictory information so hopefully someone "in the know" can clear this up. Is the scrimmage at the UT indoor facility open to the public or closed to the public? I'm out of town that day so I need to know whether or not to try to get back in time to go watch.
  18. I haven't seen him in many years either. I loved the way he played!
  19. My two cents worth on this issue is as follows. If you're throwing the ball to one of these guys then it should be Tee, and it doesn't matter where you throw it, he will most likely catch it. Tee will go sky high to catch it and he has great hands, Once the ball is secured, Graham is both faster and more elusive. So I believe that Graham is more dangerous with the ball but Tee is better at going up, out, or down to actually get the ball.
  20. That's a lot of QBs to try to coach. They better narrow that down soon. Looking forward to seeing the Hawkins kid
  21. That clears it all up. Thank you
  22. OK, now I understand. Ryan Callahan has decided he's the #1 wide receiver in the nation and I'm fine with that, but no recruiting service has actually said that. As I said, Tee is #1 with me and I don't care who ranks him how high or low!
