  1. IMO because the call was nearfall, then it has to stay that way. It was way too close to call. If it had been called no nearfall than I’d say it would need to stay that way as well. It was that close. I watched the stream a few times to try and see and it’s literally milaseconds. This is why college has instant replay. Sadly we don’t get that luxury so I say call has to be 2 nearfall since that’s what original call was. Those Bartlett fans though were as classless as I’ve seen. I get that it’s heartbreaking for Gabe but they crossed a line
  2. If you all are up for it, I’d be more than happy to set one up again this year. Just let me know what everyone wants. I will need help seeding it though if I do it. Last year I went solely based on placement. Proper seeding would need to be done if we do it again this year
  3. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the end of the 113 match? Reversal and nearfall? Reversal, no nearfall? No reversal? Congrats to Hunter but man what a tough way to lose for Gabe
  4. This season has all led up to his point. The finals are tonight and for those who are familiar with my posts, I like to give some insight on the matchups instead of just picking. However unfortunately it’s been a busy weekend for me and I don’t have the time to write out a paragraph so I’ll just make my picks. Also just an FYI, I’m stuck at work tonight so won’t get to watch the finals live. I’ll watch when I get home tonight so if you don’t hear from me, that is why 106- Trey Bates (Beech) 113- Gabe O’Callaghan (Bartlett) 120- Brayden Palmer (Beech) 126- Noah Horst (Beech) 132- Chase Brown (Halls) 138- Luke Story (Science Hill) 145- Dominic Fields (Tennessee) 152- Josh Pietarilla (Hardin Valley) 160- William Diehl (Science Hill) 170- Landon Fowler (Blackman) 182- Christian Salter (Siegel) 195- Bradley Williams (Clarksville) 220- Ty Boeck (Soddy) 285- Michael Kramer (Wilson Central) good of luck to all the finalists. May the best man win
  5. I think someone earlier said about Tony Wilson giving up, “tough to want to continue to fight when your goal all season is The finals” funny how when it’s a Region 4 guy it’s ok, but not when it’s someone else. Rippy is a senior, former state champ, best 152 in the state, and when you wrestle all year and put in the work to get to the finals, and then get a screw job like he got in the semis, you don’t really have the motivation to keep going when your goal is to be at the top of the podium. Losing is one thing, losing he way he did is another. I’d be angry and upset too. Plus I heard he was pretty sick yesterday as well so let’s try not to jump to conclusions and call a kid who has done alot for the sport both at Beech and in the state, a sore loser, when you probably wouldn’t wrestle in his situation either
  6. The only thing Sweeney is proving is that the refs are in Cleveland’s back pocket. He’s proving that you can win without doing anything if the refs are on your side. And that if you hit someone in the face over and over again, that the refs will eventually start giving you points for it. That match is a disgrace to the sport. For Sweeney, go out there and actually wrestle, stop with the constant hands to the face and pushing people back. And to the refs from that match...well, don’t quit your day job. It’s sad that everything has become so political. I’m not even associated with Beech but that match was a fluke. The best kid did not win. And Rippy never should’ve been hit with staling. The only times he backed up was when Sweeney hit him in the face (over and over and over) or when Sweeney pushed him back. Sweeney wrestled like a child and Rippy got punished for it. Makes me sick
  7. 132 is Brown vs Henderson. Congrats Twofdr. And good luck to Chase tomorrow.
  8. 126 will be Martin vs Horst. One we have all been waiting for.
  9. Palmer and Cannon roll. That will be a fun one
  10. 113 O’Callaghan sticks Bradford and Borders beats Thomas. What a finals match that will be. A combination nobody saw coming.
  11. 106 finals will be Bates vs McDaniel as expected.
  12. Definitely not chalk considering the current #1 in the state isn’t there. According to pin tn it’s 2, 3, 4, and 6. 4 of the top 6 but not the top 4 kids as far as rankings go
  13. Looked like he didn’t have it in him after losing to James
  14. 113 O’Callaghan dec Davis 3-0. Big win for Gabe. 120 Medina dec Witt 8-7 after trailing 7-1, got a reversal with about a minute left and then 2 separate near fall counts. 132 Pendley 9-5 over Milasauskas
  15. Only surprise I’d say is Martin of Farragut pushing Milasauskas to the brink. Other than that, the top guys held serve. Makes for some exciting quarters tomorrow
  16. Not a fluke. Theyve got 4 of the top 5 or 6 in the state. Don’t know if it happened at any other weights.
  17. Yeah. It’s gonna hurt Soddy. They will be lucky to get top 15
  18. Joyner from Antioch dec Braxton Mann 7-5 in SV, eliminating Mann.
  19. According to track, Beech’s heavy dec Addison Roberts. Also according to track at 220- Ryan Hirsch (Mt. Juliet) pinned Kevin Gentry.
  20. Geez. Sounds like some pretty crazy results!
