  1. Boone did not give Morristown West any trouble. I say SH will beat Boone by 50.
  2. They have a good bench of depth, however, the best players on the team is a #33 who's a freshman and the four seniors.
  3. I'm sorry your dad passed away. That's really tough. However, I'd say you are an exception when it comes to transferring that many times in high school. Most of these kids transfer to play on better ball teams, or build super teams. That's the kind of transferring these folks are talking about.
  4. You missed the point! Your upper classmen just had a very physical strong game given to them by underclassmen! SH has freshmen very much capable of playing on your varsity team. One of YOUR people volunteered the info by the way, and it wasn't a freshman parent. There's no fishing to be done. West has a young team of talent that gave SH a heck of a game last night. SH couldn't do that with their younger players. The ones you named played as freshmen because that's what SH had then. Right now, freshmen are not allowed to play on varsity at SH. That's not fishing, that's a fact.
  5. SH did not "let up" in the fourth and let West come back to within 9 points with over 3 minutes to go in the quarter. SH would be stupid to do that as 9 points is very much attainable with that amount of time left in the game. West was not afraid of Lyons. They look forward to playing against her. Whining about foul calls is silly when West weren't making their free throws. West had more fouls called against them the first half anyways and SH were making their free throws. You just can't seem to admit that west gives SH a very good game and vice versa. West played a strong bench with freshmen and sophomores playing the majority of the game. You can't say the same about SH when SH doesn't even allow freshman to play on the varsity team.
  6. The tempo went down in the fourth because SH kept trying to slow the pace down and play keep away to run the clock down. West kept the pressure up on SH though and came back to within 9 points with 3 min to go. Again, I'd like to know how many attempts at shots each team had. SH executed their 3 point shots well. West missed several wide open layups, 3 point shots and free throws. Say what you want, but one of the SH parents said that SH doesn't have any competition in their area and West actually gives them a difficult game. It was a great game, full of action, and definitely another match-up to look forward to.
  7. Not really. 18 points is not a blowout by any means. SH had to work their butts off for every point. West took numerous shots they didn't sink. I'd be curious to know how many attempts each team had. West JV girls beat SH by over 20, so they'll be some good competition against each other for the next few years. No doubt each team has a lot of talent, and is a great game to watch when they play each other. Hopefully they'll see each other in the regional finals.
  8. West beat Bearden this summer by 15 or so points. From what I saw yesterday, West did not show up to play. Bearden has a really good team. West played sloppy and had tons of turnovers. Bearden capitalized on that as they should. I did see West beat Farragut yesterday. There's some stacked teams for sure and it really does boil down to who shows up to play and is on top of their game at any given time. I predict that Bearden can give SH a good game should they meet up during state. The season is early and a lot can happen between now and the state tourney.
  9. If Volunteer stayed with Boone, then I'd put DB ahead of Boone. I heard that Volunteer scrimmaged Morristown West last weekend, and West beat them pretty solidly. I don't know what the score was though.
  10. SH, and then I think it will be a toss up between Dobyns Bennett and Daniel Boone.
  11. Yes, in which coaches play everyone to see what they got.
  12. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Riverdale itself can't recruit. TSSAA rules prevent that. But parents, other players, people who know people can recruit all they want. Once a player moves into the school zone, TSSAA just makes sure they are legal to play. Team Pride AAU has girls all over the state playing for them. It's one of the top AAU programs in the U.S. Its home is right there in Murfreesboro. Top players across the state come to play for them and for the exposure they offer. Once there for the summer, it's not hard for people associated with Riverdale to get parents jobs, apartments, whatever they need, to get their kid to that high school. It's legit recruiting by TSSAA rules since it's done outside of school personnel. However, from others stand point, it's unethical. So I see grandadone's point about it being tainted victory since many see it as unethical. It's basically building an all star team at Riverdale.
  13. Of course they haven't been yet, the season hasn't started yet.
  14. Reading through all this, it seems to me that some are trying hard to defend Riverdale's reputation of getting transfers. People DON'T move all the time. Most families with kids stay put until kids graduate, unless they're military or something like that. It looks to me like grandadone has an opinion and one or two of ya are overly defensive about his opinion. I'm actually starting to wonder myself about Riverdale because of that. Once a player transfer, they have to be legal, as in live in the school district, etc. to play by TSSAA rules. But how they came about transferring, well that can be a whole other story. The school itself can't recruit someone in, but other people can.
  15. Actually, you don't know what you're talking about. That point guard that you're talking about went to Morristown West and transferred to Bradley. She didn't like the program and wanted to come back to West. Didn't happen. She ended up having to go to East. There was no transferring done other than her transferring to Bradley to begin with.
