  1. How is Alcoa's reputation inflated when they have 12 state titles to back it up? It's hard not to have somewhat of an ego with that many. And I haven't seen anything from Alcoa fans that's any worse or more egotistical than other fan bases. The only difference is, Alcoa backs it up.
  2. That would probably be if Rankin played his 2nd and 3rd team the entire game. Let's be honest, Lancaster won't put up any kind of fight against Alcoa. I wonder how many Lancaster fans will come all the way from Smyrna when they know Alcoa will roll in this one. This was actually supposed to be the week they hosted Fulton, a game that would have sold out. I wonder how much less revenue this game will bring since everyone knows Alcoa will blow them off Goddard Field.
  3. Alcoa has the same problem. All 5 starters on last year's team plus some of the bench played football, and they lost the opener to McMinn Central by 38 and started the year 2-6. But in January they started winning their district games and eventually finished 2nd behind Stone Memorial, who has since moved up to AAA. Alcoa split with CAK and Stone but swept everyone else, so November games are almost never a reflection of how good a team is IMO.
  4. Alcoa only lost 2 seniors, but one of them was Kenny Dean, the team's best shooter by far. Alcoa could have done better last year, but Tony Jones spent more time yelling at the refs than he did coaching. Not sure how Joel Kirk will do, but he's an Alcoa grad and assistant coach since 2001, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure Alcoa will start slow because several players will still be playing football. CAK didn't lose much either (I think just Nick Campbell, Brett Kendrick, and Dylan Keck), and Lee can shoot the lights out if he's healthy. Haven't seen Catholic play, but I know they beat Alcoa 42-40 last year, and they're coming down from Class AAA, so watch out for them. Probably one of those 3 teams will take the district with Stone Memorial gone. Hard to believe only one team from District 4AA will miss out on regionals.
  5. That's an actual number I heard. Not sure if it's totally true of not but I believe it. Lmao, they'll pay any price to show their anger toward Jody Wright. Then again, Alcoa's football program is probably rich enough to afford this huge revenue loss with 12 state titles.
  6. Not really thanks to Rankin. Who can blame Alcoa for being upset with Jody Wright for his Loudon proposal? Some of the TSSAA recommended that he not propose it, but he did anyway and it passed. Alcoa didn't even know about it until after it happened. District 4 lost 2 teams (Stone Memorial up to class 5A, and now Loudon) and only got 1 replacement, Catholic. For teams like Alcoa and CAK, scheduling 6 non-district games is a challenge when no one wants to play you. I promise Rankin is not scared; all of Alcoa HS is mad at Jody Wright for screwing them over BEHIND THEIR BACKS! Back to Alcoa, yes they lost 28 seniors, but they're perfectly capable of going 8-1 or 9-0 (9-1 or 10-0 if they schedule a 10th game) and making a BlueCross Bowl run. CAK lost its best players too. As long as Rankin is there, Alcoa will be competing for titles every year no matter who they play.
  7. Yup, mainly because Fulton's AD proposed the move.
  8. I'm sure they did, but I think Jody Wright proposed the move. The teams in District 5 are actually closer to Loudon (111 miles total) than District 4 (205 miles), and Loudon is probably glad they don't have to play Alcoa anymore. Alcoa got mad because they now have to schedule 6 non-district games, and no one wants to play them.
  9. Alcoa won't play Fulton because they're mad at their AD Jody Wright for moving Loudon to District 5-AA. I'm going to miss that game, it always draws a crowd.
  10. Alcoa is boycotting Fulton. They're mad at athletic director Jody Wright for moving Loudon to District 5-AA. I've actually talked to both Josh Stephens and Gary Rankin and even suggested they play Fulton, but they said they're not going to play this year. I wish they would play, it's usually a hard fought game (regardless of the score).
