What time is this game Friday Alcoa time?
-
$12 to get in and $5 to park last year and cheated us for free.
-
This will be the best game of all of them. West is a good team and they look a lot better now then when we (Maryville) played them.
-
The weather can have a big effect on a game. Every time we play at that H**l Hole the winds blowing twenty miles an hour or more and I'm really beginning to hate that awful place. If the field is real wet which team will that help. If we have a cheater calling the game again which team could that help.
As far as the TV goes it's never been worth a crap but rather have something as nothing. If your at home just turn the sound down and listen to the radio. WBIR has 30% A.M. showers but I also have came to realize over the years that they can't pick the winner of a one horse race.
-
I'm curious how Tennessee is out going past the limit that they can sign. Are they just expecting a certain few to drop off or will they discourage a few from coming when the signing day comes up.
-
So you are going Commando. That is way too much information.
Going to be to cold that night to go Commando.
-
I was very nervous after we got stopped on offense three times in a row. Blackman just simply got out coached because they have a ball team. I really believe if G.Q. were coaching that team he could compete at a national level. I'm very glad most of their defense were seniors but they do have a few back on offense.

This topic needs some purple!! So here goes, my championship game prediction. I 1st thought I would be for the all stars but nope Im just too bitter. I would love to see them get their tails whipped by 1 point and who better to do it than some commandos. That has to be the best mascot I have ever heard of. How is it going to happen, 1st turnovers Commandos must be plus 6 in the turnover stat, 2nd run the ball and get the rebs out of cover 2 where they are so comfy (2a throw it when they adjust), 3 score more than they do (the hard part haha). Just for good measure hope for refs that hate the allstars for whatever reason. A few good calls could be all hendersonville needs just ask white haven hahahaha!
Good luck to both teams they have earned it for sure.
AllStars 27 Commandos 28
GoCommandos!!!!!
Don't be mad at us gobears89 ,we would pull for you guys. We loved playing Sevier County because their fans support the team better than any team we play. You guys played a lot better the second game and we expected it.
-
That would be great for the Campbell County fans after years of being beat down by everyone. It's a process that takes a while but I hope they keep the staff together up there and make something of it. Great job as the big surprise team this year.
-
William Blount's not going to be happy unless they lose ten games for the year I guess. Why would somebody want to go watch someone try to blow air into a cadaver on a cold day in December.
-
This was the reason TiVo was invented!!
I can't go to a movie when someone spoils it and tells me how it ended and I can't stand watching a ballgame that some bigmouth on radio has went and ruined for me telling me everything about it. No mater how much you try to escape trying to find out the score of that game someone figures a way to tell you.

Q. Want to know what the worst thing is about being a Maryville fan and going to all the ballgames?
A. Only getting to see two SEC Championship Games in the last seventeen years because we're either in Nashville, Murfreesboro or Cookeville on that date.
-
I think everyone of the East Tennessee teams will win this weekend but I believe the best game will be the West and Henry County game. I do plan on going early to see that one. I am a Maryville fan and we're pulling for all the other local teams to win so we will be there to support West. They have a great coach and I want to see him win this week.
-
Same here. I didn't see the game but heard he did good still I think it was a shootout. Thing about that kid is he's a good kid too. Works hard expects nothing to be given to him. Even helps younger kids. Not a bad wrestler either. I'm sure you've seen your share up their. That freshman team at WV has a lot of promise but I think lack of linemen might catch up to them come time for varsity. But you never know. Keep asany kids playing as long as you can I always say. It's the time of their lives.
That was the first game of the season for our team and it hurt missing the three that went up to the varsity plus two of the linemen that started last year weren't apart of this team either, one chose basketball and the other moved. It was a shootout until we threw a pick six and a couple of other mistakes and fell to far behind to catch up. I just remember number 44 more than anything that day. The freshmen defense had a hard time this year but the offense did okay even with the loss of Ervin at mid season.
-
That was their freshman team. They had a large class of freshman. The one kid you refer to is also a wrestler he wrestled varsity the other day at 220 he's close to 6 5. Beckingham. His name got some snaps at d end on varsity second half of year. They have about 4 running backs with a lot of speed. Two are from Atlanta. Throne is just a track man first year footballer his brother should of got time on the varsity. Not real big but can stop and go. Yes they probably did celebrate to much but that's cause Maryville is TN football.
No problem about the celebrating here, glad they had a great time and had the experience of beating Maryville. I can't believe for my life that the boy wasn't pulled up to the varsity to play when they went 4-6. Like I said he reminded me of Jack Lambert and that was a good thing.
-
Walker Valley High School ended up with a 4-6 worksheet this year and they happen to have a freshman class that comes in here and does what ever it wanted to do that day. There was one kid number 44 that had to have been 6-3 230 and played like Jack Lambert of the Steelers and he's not on the varsity that went 4 and 6. Then when the game was over a large group gathered near the old ticket stand on Cedar Street with a big tailgate party to feed the players and celebrate like they had just won the State or something. I'm sure they felt like they had beat the varsity that day the way they carried on which is fine with me because it should be fun but I have been around to long not to be able to see that there was a combination of JV and freshmen players.
-
Big Maryville fan here and we're pulling for West to bring a Gold Ball back home to Knoxville with them. I'm going down early to see this game along with ours.
-
I only saw some of the frosh games, but I agree 100%. The experience gained by alot of those kids is invaluable. I had always heard how much other frosh enjoyed that year and I can see why. The involvement of the varsity coaches with the frosh is a big part of the success at murvil - IMO. They continue learning "the system".
Was the team that used the jv kids the first game? Just curious.
The team was Walker Valley.
-
The Freshmen went 4-4 this year. They lost the first four games and won the last four and was to play a nine game schedule and Lenior City cancelled out on them for some reason. The team was stripped of Blackmon, Porter and Young who went to the varsity. The offense looked very good most of the season long but the defense was very weak which had a lot to do with the players that were called up to varsity. The good thing is it allowed some new players a chance to play that may not have got that chance. One game against an out of town team used JV players which shouldn't have happened. The team had three good QB's which was a bright spot and three great receivers. There were others that did well also but I don't know all the names but I went to everyone of the games. Jordan Ervin missed the games they won but the team came together right in the middle of the season.

The worst thing that can happen is all the cheap talk about just showing up next week and picking up the trophy from a group of couch potatoes that have taken on a sideline career as a football know it all. Last night I was listening to the Fulton game and the announcer made a comment about one of the banners that read "Welcome to our practice" or something along those lines and they found their selves in a fight for their lives and who would have ever predicted that. I expected that game to be so lopsided that I dreaded hearing the score. I have a very tribal knowledge of the History of Maryville Football since the mid 1960's since I have seen most of them and I can personally point out all the loses from that time forward where chickens were counted before they were hatched and we ended up with eggs on out faces. You never know the situations or injuries the other team may have had during the season and get surprised so I hope the players don't get caught into this trap and think all we have to do is show up or they might go home empty handed again.
-
What a great game, it was everything that it was billed up to be. The team that made the least mistakes would win this one and that would be Maryville.
-
Hey then why let the guy that was coaching go then, someone is better than no one. Glad I don't live in Knoxville or have to deal with the stupid people that have been put in charge there.
-
This game was supposed to be the one shown but there was a change of plans. Packer said on High School Heroes last night that Trousdale vs. Grace would be on MyVLT2.
Thanks AllRegion thought for a minute or two I might be coming down with early dementia because I had heard someone say it was Maryville playing on TV.
