Just a question for the SC folks to consider and the Rebels to ponder: Why would Coach Quarles not play #17 much in the second half? He showed poise in the pocket, hit recievers in stride and escaped pressure while still looking down field. Could CQ respect SC and not want to score again? Could CQ not want everyone to think #17 is a better option than Vaught at QB the rests of the season? These are just thoughts not numbers, but the numbers were PRETTY good for #17.

I might be able to help you with your question. GQ knows who works hard and who don't and gives the kid a good chance that does or at least until it's obvious they can't be a help at that position. I know kids on that team that will tell you 15# will give you his all and will do anything you ask that will help the team in anyway and is very well respected on that team by other team mates. That would be throwing that young man under the bus after the fumble at the start of the game and GQ did the right thing in letting him know that was ok and forget about it and go back in and play. He played just fine after that and it helped build confidence. Remember after Tyler got hurt we have no experienced QB's and you have to take a situation like last night to let these boy's work out the bugs.

I expect Heritage to at least fight all the way in this game no matter what the score turns out to be. I knew it would take a long rebuilding process out there but things are starting to come together finally. If Tim can add a few more players each coming year I see them being a real good football program. We don't forget who brought the Maryville program back to respectability and he will do the same for Heritage.

You can always predict two things when we play Sevier County at Maryville. The game will be a runaway and someone from Sevier County parks their car somewhere they shouldn't have and they have to announce it over and over until they go and move it.

It's a long time till Thanksgiving. Trust the coaches to get the offense going.

I can't wait for this one to be over with. I've heard so much about losing the quarterback this week from so many people and how we're going to get upset Friday because of it.  If that will sell some extra tickets this week then that will be good but I think it will be 35-14 Maryville.

To win against Blackman we would have to play just like we did last year on offense and that's not going to happen. Losing Garrett and Prevo has turned out to be a bigger loss than we thought. This team has a great defense if I have ever seen one at Maryville but the offense goes out and runs 400 yards against Hardin Valley and comes away with 16 points then something is very wrong. This is a good team overall but I've not seen anything at all this year to tell me Maryville can pull it off again with what I saw on TV in the Oakland-Blackman game. Blackman in my opinion is just the better team this year. Nothing wrong with that because even with the offense not playing to the level we're used to I still think Maryville is one of the four best teams in the state.

Ok then. If West could be competitive with Maryville then I see no reason why Fulton couldn't be as well. Better?

I think it would be a great game. they could charge double the regular admission and still fill the place up. That's what both of those schools need to look at is the money it would make for both them. It would be a great game for ESPN also.

It wasn't as competitive as the score said.  It was like every time Maryville got the ball they would drive and something stupid would happen on our part. Then the QB got hurt and the two new kids came in and moved the ball well but get to the one yard line twice and fail to score. The game itself was played more like a 36-3 but it turned out 16-3.

LoL , OldRebel2 is right , the IFL Victory last year was a total Fluke , George just never has had a lot of success in the IFL ..... Everybody has a weakness I guess . 

I'll be honest with you, I was prepared to be. I even gave it a thought to go to the William Blount and Heritage game I was so prepared to be bored. I guess when you play a team that finally figured out we can't pass like we have been able in the past it turned out to be a decent game

At some of the Knoxville fields I've been to this year it looks like Earl Scheib did it with one of his cheap paint jobs.

It's a combination of all we have d1 players on both sides of the ball but we also have a unusually weak schedule... Traditionally good teams are awful now... We had probably a better team last year though...

Your sure right about traditionally good teams are awful now. I looked at the top ten polls in the state yesterday and hands down I said Blackman , Oakland, Maryville and Fulton are the four best. Now to go get a second best it drops off a little but by the eight team it does a lot. I've been telling people as much as we are getting better the others are getting worse.

Getting ready for the big trip to Maryville this Friday Night to see the big upset is what I'm hearing out of Sevier County.

New season next year and the fans from both schools are going to have to put the heat on the coaches to play this game and find out and quit avoiding it.  I want to see it, you want to see it so start raising cane about it and maybe they will play. I would rather watch something like that then go see us beat up on a team so bad the whole second half is under the mercy rule. Sick of those type a games. It's getting as boring as going to watch the Smokies play baseball. That's why the stands are halfway empty because it's so predictable anymore. Winning is fun but not when your playing nobody. Lets get this game on the books next year folks.

Catholic will win big with the passing attack. Maryville rolled up 400 yards offense on HVA but didn't cash in all the time due to first game jitters using two new QB's Should of been 30-3 but it wasn't.

This kind of goes back to when we were all in grade school and they bring in someone that has had a troubled life to talk to the students and help scare them away from it by looking at their mistakes. I've not followed Pac-Man Jones lately because I've 95% signed off with the NFL because of all the problem players getting slapped on the wrist finally done me in. The situation last year at LSU when the all star running back beat someone up that had no chance against him almost did me in on college but it did make me see the light in Les Miles who I have no respect for anymore.  Think that's why I enjoyed that Mississippi State game so much Saturday night.        

Hate to hear that the Senior QB got hurt.....I hate to see any kid get injured, but it is even worse when it is their Senior year.  Hopefully he will heal up quickly.  I understand that GQ played both backups after Vaught went out, but who got the bulk of the playing time between the two backups?

They both played equal. The one thing that might have been confusing was that they were both in on the same drive a few times. This is when GQ is at his best and will be very fun to watch.

Can't stand the NFL because it's image has been taken down the toilet and the NCAA is on the same very path. That's why I like High School Football the best but how long will it be before it's contaminated.

I get sick and tired of high school kids playing musical chairs in the sports papers committing and decommitting and the sports editors lapping it up like a bunch of dogs wagging their tails. If these kids had something to lose for not keeping their word all this nonsense would stop. That story was put in the paper Saturday to just make people mad and you all know that. I don't know a thing about his grades and if that was the problem then why act as if you don't want to come anymore if the real reason is that you can't. No one ever got mad at someone because they couldn't make the grade.

I was bombarded this morning at church with "What happened to Maryville Friday night??!" I said We won. Why do we have to score 4 or 5 TD's to win a game?? We coulda scored 2 safetys Friday night and won.

Your right LOL. The offense can go on a vacation and let the defense play three of the up coming games and we would win on fumbles and interceptions.

REBELRON I came so close to going to the William Blount and Heritage game but in the end I went to Hardin Valley because I would have felt guilty as cheating on my wife had I done that.  It turned out to be a good game after all. The wins have started to come so easy and the scores so lopsided that having to go to a place that has very crappy seating for the visitors and even worse situation after the game getting out of there makes you think about it being worth going or not   I'll tell you one thing, the next time I go there I'm going to take a camper and sleep in it for two hours after the game then go home so I won't have a massive heart attack waiting in all that traffic. I think it will be an interesting season from this point forward and maybe people that are tired of blowout ballgames might come back. When there's a chance someone thinks they can beat Maryville they come out of the cracks to be there because they don't wont to miss it for the world.

48-18 Alcoa.  Heritage has improved but still two good years away from being in this game.

Losing Vaught hurts but the teams that are upcoming on the Maryville schedule just aren't capable of causing them any real problems, Sevier County included. Hardin Valley was pesky but the end result was a two TD victory and a bigger edge than that on stat sheet so it wasn't like MHS was ever on the brink of defeat.

It was like shooting something and it wouldn't die no matter how much you shot it.
