  1. ridge out gregory in and gregory gonna hire the old drunk gordon back and we r gonna win state haha

I want you all to be honest with me here W.B. fans. What did you all think of those uniforms they wore this year?  I loved the ones you all had that looked like Florida but this years took me by surprise. I couldn't read any of the numbers at all and I'm surprised the TSSAA would allow that.

  2. I knew that guy and his wife , he became really sick and had to give it up.  He made a killing for a while .

Great post and thanks for mentioning that and also the guy that had to leave the ballgame at halftime to go off campus to find something good to eat for his mother. Why don't the guy that asked about El Sazon just go in there and pull his clothes off and lay on a table and get back with us and let us know what happened. Not sure what that had to do with the football game Friday but I thought I would just throw that one in there.

  3. Well I have received a text from rebelwoman87 and all is well. She is having some Internet problems and can't post. She did want me to give Barney a warning. She is going to stick a hotdog up your nose if you keep talking bad about the concessions.

I will try to lay low about the concession stand from now on but I do want to throw in this last one though. Do you all remember the guy that was selling hot dogs outside the gate a few years ago and he was always covered up with business? I'm sure the school must of made him quit but what I'm trying to say is the guy sold a great product and people bought them like hot cakes and that's all I'm trying to do is open people's eye's that are over that operation. When I see how that thing is run I think of a bunch of kids with a kool-aid stand and that is the mentality up there and when we go to away games we look bad when you compare us and them. I have the image of those two hot dogs that looked like Slim Jim's laying on a bun burnt into my mind and I will never forget it.  I'm sure when I die and my life flashes before me that will be one of the things I will see. Now next year there will be a new Barbecue place right across the street form the high school that I'm willing to bet will cut into the concession sales big time unless someone thinks like a business person instead of a kid w/ a Kool-Aid Stand. Anyway I think we will win this week 42-14 but the game will break loose midway through the third quarter.

  4. You didn't hit a nerve, just think it's silly to complain about the concession stands.

Who cares.  This is high school and I am particularly happy that MHS doesn't worry about your dinning experience.  Maryville High isn't in the business of maximizing the fan experience.  We play the game, we win the game & then we go home. Get loud for the Rebels, the rest is superfluous.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse but that is one of the reasons that factor in why my wife won't go to the games and there I have a season ticket unused. She gets off work and drives from Knoxville and not much time to go anywhere other than fast food or go to the game and have a lower version of it at a much higher price. I hear it every week I'm not going up there and eat that garbage. When I went to the stand two weeks in a row and they ran out of Chick-Fil-A's and we were pressed to get into our seats to see kick off she won't go back because the rest of what they have is pure garbage. I'm sorry for making anyone mad about this and I'm sure it don't bother some people but it does me and the only way to fix it is be the squeaky wheel so it will get greased. Squeak, squeak, squeak.......................................

  5. I watched that game on TV with Anderson County and I couldn't believe how much O.R. had fallen backward this year. Don't know much about what is going on with them and surprised me the other coach left.  I do know one thing that O.R. and Maryville have in common is our love for the football programs and we both have the type of fans to go out and rattle the cage of the school board if things aren't going well. I sure enjoy going to O.R. to play a football game because you can feel their rich tradition there at Blankenship Field as soon as you walk into the place. It's a feeling you will never get at any other high school in Tennessee. I hated we didn't play each other this year and I thought that was a big mistake.

  6. Maryville's concession stands are run by the band dept.  You feel some kind of way about them, don't you BS.  The games are at 7:00 & 7:30, eat before you get there.  Our concession stands have been pizza & popcorn since at least the 80's.  Concessions stands are for snacks, not dinner

I'm sorry, I must of been drilling to much and finally hit a nerve. When you go to a college game or a pro game the great food is part of the atmosphere. I see these wonderful places we have been to like West, L.C., Catholic, Alcoa and William Blount just to name a few and their grilling hamburgers and you go to a Maryville game and it doesn't even match up to one of those places at all. That is one of the reasons I enjoy the road games so much. I also know the money goes to the band but they are leaving more money on the ground then their pockets over the stupid way they do things up there. I will be glad to send Chef Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible a letter and tell him we have a failing concession stand that needs a make over and see if he'll come here and help this mess out.

  7. Maryville's concession stand is the same as every other school but they are all the same to me. The only concession stand that has stood out to me is the loudon one, now that is some good stuff! They have delicious BBQ sandwiches with slaw and great homemade sweet tea. I think it's worth catching a loudon game just to go to the concession stand lol.

When we go to W.B. for a game they are cooking hamburgers on a grill and so do a bunch of other places and I love that. Maryville is to lazy to do that so they have pizza and Chick-Fil-A brought in and they do attempt to make hot dogs and let me say that again because this is a very important word, ATTEMPT.

  8. Hey just a question for you maryville fans, with more people moving toward the hardin valley area will they be a contender in the future? I will hang up and listen

Going to be honest with you. I was expecting a much better game than they gave Maryville this year. I think H.V. had a good team but your going to need a very good coach to beat G.Q.  That wasn't even a game this year. I watched H.V. on tv and thought they were going to be hard to deal with but coaching was the big difference. Now the question to you is H.V. going to replace a coach that has a good team but can't beat Maryville. I seriously doubt it. I also would bet if H.V. grew to fast they would redraw the school lines in Knoxville again.

  9. It all comes down to what you believe you can do. If you accept 5-5 as good then that is what you will always shoot for and anything more will be gravy. I can tell you this about Maryville. The kids that go through the feeder system are taught that early and parents want their kids to be apart of that and people get in line to get their kid on those teams. Some get turned away and for the most part I see those kids end up at Fairview but end up back at Maryville down the line someway or the other. I have watched friends and other coaches with those other teams fight to get enough players to even make a team and I hate seeing what comes next. The bad part or the dark side of Maryville Football is the fact that someone is going to get to play and someone isn't. That puts a lot of pressure on those young kids which come from parents that think their kid is the next Peyton Manning but he isn't being given his chance. I watch parents hold their kids back a grade just so they will have a better shot at playing football which in most cases is very selfish on that parent because it's a one in a hundred shot that kid would go any farther than high school football and you have robed  a year out of that kids life for your own selfishness. I see that more and more and that is a drawing line in my book.

  10. Not spoiled, very very fortunate for the situation that has happened up there over the last seventeen years and was very very fortunate to be involved in the program when it dominated in the seventies also. We grew up under Ted Wilson who had the best winning percentage of any coach in Tennessee until G.Q. broke that record. Watching that program go into a tail spin in the late eighties until the mid nineties was a very hard thing to swallow and part of that tail spin was two 5-5 teams which made me sick until this very day. From 1964 till today that was the worst two teams Maryville ever trotted out onto a football field.
