  1. He seems to be a good kid and does work hard. He is one of the many talented Sophmores on the Bulldog team. Don't forget Brown & Rogers who are Sophmores as well. They will be hard to recon with for the next few years because they have some good Freshmen on the team as well and the upcoming talent for next year as potential too! The next 2 years could be all Buldogs if they stay focused and continue to work hard as a team. Their destiny lies in their hands.
  2. I agree with Ro, and will go one step farther and say Jerriel Inman, DJ and Jeremy hit some treys that came at an opportune time. Everyone that played during the game stepped up. The earlier post about DJ having turnovers, what game was you watching because I had none issued to him. I could personally list things that every player did to attribute to the win and list reasons as to why several deserved player recognition. The Bulldog bench was awesome as was the fans which also attributes to championships. Also, for those of you wondering about the sluggish Jeremy Shannon during the championship game, he was sick Saturday, fighting flu like symptoms. He gave a real good effort against Rockwood especially the 2nd half. I hope he's better for the Regionals. Vespie, as I said in my last post, kept Payne well under control- way to go Vespie. thumbs up to all the Bulldog players, coaches and the fans. Good luck in the Regionals tonight.
  3. Shows how much you know about basketball and a players ability!!! DJ Shannon knocked down a trey or two against Rockwood as did Vespie, Jeremy Shannon and Inman-against the defenders of Rockwood. As you said Rockwoods defense is best or are they??? DJ Shannon forced turn overs against Onedia and Rockwood and scored on them both-he scored from up top and down low. You should not be so jugdemental when it is appartent that you are unable to scout talent when it is before your eyes. DJ Shannon scored 11 points against the best defensive team around- Rockwood. In fact, Wartburg had 4 players in double figures so lets give credit to whom has earne it. DJ Shannon forced steals, and rebounded well, oh did I mention that he received "All Tournament" as did Adam Vespie and Jeremy Shannon-MVP for the year and tournament. Adam Vespie kept your "Payne" in perpestive all night, Melton & DJ kept Hacklery under controll-I could go on and on but I think you get the picture- Unlike you I will give credit to those Rockwood boys- they played hard and well it just wasn't their night. Maybe if they meet again, there will be a different story for the papers but the truth and topic of this reply is that the young Shannon kid is that good- yes he has room to improve but he has some time to do so and after seeing him play in this district tournament, he is and will be a excellant asset to the team of Jeremy Shannon, Adam Vespie, Jason Melton, Travis Nelson, Ray Jenkins and others next year. He is one of the Sophmore to watch in this district. Awesome fan support for all the teams this year- keep it up.
  4. What happened to the # 7 ranked CAK team? Speaking of choking...After defeating the bulldogs by 30+ earlier in the year, this should have been like a practice for your team. Don't focus to hard on Shannon, when you do someone else will sneak up and make you pay- they have the talent to that.
  5. Shannon is a good kid that gives 110% every game and he is not one to go around and boust to anyone that he's, as it sounds your are implying, "all that". He is a team player, if you check the stats, he's rebounding, getting steals, issuing assists, blocking some shots down low-(remember he's a point guard) and of course scoring-so in my opinion, if he wanted to "TOOK HIS OWN HORN" he has the right to, but during a game and practice-Shannon is a leader- even the coach says so... SO give him a break- He got the MVP because he DESERVED it this year. There are alot of kids that could have been named MVP for one reason or another, but the coaches picked THEIR selection for 2004-2005 season and they selected a kid who deserved it most (Shannon) who contributed on both sides of the court-not just offense as you reference in you post. And for the record Joe Layne received the coach of the year-Congradulations to both of these Bulldogs and the entire team because you all contributed to their awards and recognition. Good luck to all the players & coaches. It should be an interesting tournament.
  6. Well deserved....congrats Coach Davis. Keep up the good work!!! The kids are lucky to have you.
  7. I agree- great game, great team effort. I have to say that everyone played really well but in my opinion, the younger Shannon (DJ) sparked the team when he returned to the game in the 2nd qtr. He got 7 points in under 2 minutes- capped a 3, he stoled the ball resulting in 2 pts, and forced yet another turn over-and 2 more for shannon. Leading them into half time score of 34-30. The Bulldogs did not trail anymore from that point- Awesome play for this young man. However, as I said -everyone contributed and made differences- from the players that played, to the benchs support and encouragement and the Bulldogs fans...... AWESOME!!!! Way to support those dogs. Come tournament time , the girls and boys, are going to need that home court support from the fan/student section because several of the teams coming to play, can be a spoiler- GO BULLDOGS-
