  1. It isn't up to the gods because there is only one God. The Bees parents and fans will all say a prayer to him for the safety of Connor and the rest of the Bees and the ND players before the game. Upperman will play their best and hope that's good enough to win, but the kids on the team have been raised well enough not to try to target and intentionally injure another kid just because he's good.
  2. Same thing every other team said right before he made them look like idiots.
  3. Upperman did ask tssaa and Notre Dame for permission to move game to Thursday night before the rain comes. Tssaa said yes but ND said no. Playoff rules say both teams and TSSAA have to agree to a change. Venue change will keep them from playing in a mud pit. Thanks to Tech for the last minute accommodations - class act staff there.
  4. You are correct. Putnam high schools are open zoned. Anyone in Putnam county can attend any of the three high schools but you must reside in Putnam county to attend any school here. There is no provision for out of county residents to pay tuition and attend school here.
  5. Upperman hasn't stood a chance to win in any game so far this year based upon Coach T threads and future opponents' opinions. Most of the time, even teams that Upperman has beaten by 20+ points have predicted their downfall in all of their future games. Everyone thinks they have the simple answer to dominating the Bees - just stop Connor York. I'm telling you, if you focus too much on that one, there are other kids on the field that will make you pay for it. Besides, the winning team isn't decided by how many people think they will win in on-line polls but by which team has the most points at the end of the night. Hoping they can have the most again when the final buzzer sounds this Friday night too. GO BEES!
  6. First, let me say that I have nothing but respect for the Alcoa football and Coach Rankin. Since you have absolutely no concern that the tornadoes could even potentially be beaten by any other team in the state, why are you spending so much time on a message board thread about a game that involves two teams that are surely not even worthy to play on your precious field? Perhaps your Internet time would be better spent scoping out hotels and restaurants in Cookeville for you to celebrate your Clinic Bowl victory? Must be some new places that have opened since your last visit here.
  7. Upperman's starting offense including York had only played one full game this year before the Tyner game. Most games they were out a few minutes into the third and were always out by the fourth quarter. Prior to Tyner, the Livingston game is the only one that they hadn't pulled the starters by the 4th quarter.
  8. Did ND come out of the Polk game healthy? Bees have had a rough few weeks for injuries. Hoping some of them are able to go this week.
  9. There was talk about combining Monterey with the Algood area of Cookeville to give Monterey a new school and relieve overcrowding at Cookeville High School. The people from Monterey almost seceded from the county they were so mad. Lol. Needless to say, they are getting their own new high school up on the mountain and Cookeville is still going to be overcrowded.
  10. No. It's an odd number year so the Bees would travel to Alcoa.
  11. For a school the size of Upperman, losing 18 seniors is going to hurt - bad. They have some talented kids left but really need to put together a string of 3-4 winning seasons to get more kids interested in football. It's hard to get kids to give what Coach Herron asks for as far as off season workouts at a school that has always only cared about basketball.
  12. Read in a Chattanooga paper they had a player without enough credits last year to be eligible and it was self reported to tssaa.
  13. I didn't mean it as an insult. I think it will be great and hilarious to see how some will react. I personally am a huge fan of band performances like this one. All we usually get to see are snoozers. Can't wait. Hoping we can win the football game because I will already concede the battle of the bands to you.
  14. Hear Tyner's band puts on quite a show. A friend in Carthage said that the dance team was humping the ground during the show. That should be interesting in a community where the team has a chaplain and the principal won't even let girls wear yoga pants to school. I guess if everyone's predictions are right and Upperman is getting blown out at halftime, the crowd can at least go into shock from the halftime show and not feel the pain. One thing is for sure, the Regiment in Black from Upperman won't be able to keep up with that.
  15. If the Upperman team shows up that played at Livingston, Tyner can take this one. Otherwise, I'm going with the boys from Baxter. All season, every team they've played has claimed that they have played no one and their team would dominate them. It hasn't happened her. DeKalb tonight Milan and Jennings would give them fits with the speed of Milan and the arm of Jennings. Milan had like 30 yards. I think it will be a hard fought win, but I'm going with the Bees. A weak district isn't the only reason they are 11-0.
  16. He played defense this week too, so I guess that cut down on the number of posts he could get in between series.
  17. Ha! I know Steve York. For sure can't be him because he is on the sideline for every game and can't post. Maybe it is Connor himself. Haha
  18. Jon Franklin was released from the hospital last night. He will be fine. Thanks to all from Grundy County for the prayers last night for his health.
  19. How does Grundy travel? Visitor stands at the U are pretty small just wondering if it will be a packed house.
  20. Conversations about whether or not Upperman would be Cookeville in a hypothetical game are irrelevant and inconsequential to what really matters. Upperman plays Grundy County this week and that is the only game they are worried about. I believe Cookeville will have their hands full with the little road trip they get to take this week (and there is an entire thread devoted to discussing it on the 5A-6A board). So, since this thread is about UHS and Grundy County, who are the playmakers at Grundy and what can Upperman expect to see on offense and defense? Everyone knows Upperman has a strong offensive threat in York but what do is the general impression about their defense after the last few games? Improved from the beginning of the season or still as weak as people thought at first?
  21. Sc isn't as dominating this year as they have been in the past but they have played well of late. Didn't bring a huge crowd to the Uppermam game this year, but I would think they will turn out big at home for the first round. They have some talented kids and should be ready. What's the deal with Tyner? Read something about some forfeits? Who are the playmakers on the team and what are their strengths and weaknesses?
  22. I think the confusion lies in hour question. You asked if he was head coach at Livingston. The answer is no. He was the head coach at Upperman and an assistant coach there for some time period before that. He seemed like a nice guy buy he had a two hour commute home each day. He didn't put the effort into getting the community and players to buy into the program and therefore the football program was in debt and the team had less than thirty players. You can't win like that. The new coach is an alumni and had coached in the middle school before becoming hc at Upperman. He has coached some of these seniors for six years and the continuity and respect for the coach shows in how they play. I don't think Upperman will mercy rule Grundy or anyone else in the playoffs, but I do expect them to show up prepared and willing to do whatever the coach asks them to in order to win be game.
  23. One of the kids in the pic quit the week after it was made and there are nineteen in the pic.
  24. I think they had like nine seniors last season and they have eighteen this year at Upperman.
