Didn't get to see the Alcoa game and I know that any team in our district would have struggled against the F5 tornadoes. Did Smith show any signs of life and what their offense or defense might be like against an average high school team? Who did they scrimmage and how did those go - not that scrimmages tell a lot either? Not having seen Smith, is take the Owls by two td's but that's just based on knowing manning will be hard to stop and Gordonsville didn't stop Upperman's running back last weekend.

I saw in Murphy where LA opens with four away games. Hard on a young team.

I personally saw the tweet. I didn't post anything that I hadn't seen myself. Don't know if he has two twitter accounts or not but I saw it printed out, didn't believe it and looked it up and saw it myself.

Looper is back. No word on how he's looked in scrimmages and the Ckvl game but he was a solid performer before his injury last season. Does Monterey have any other talent to help him out this year? Couldn't tell much about them from watching the Cookeville game. Cookeville has more kids on the football team than Monterey has in their whole school almost. Wasn't a good indicator of their ability.

What week does DC play LA this year?

I think Gordonsville has the harder challenge to come back mentally this week. They lost a game that they, and everyone else, expected them to win. Smith County lost big but most every other team in the state would have too, so it's not as hard to get over.

I am thinking Sparta takes this one. Haven't seen LA in action but even some loyal fans are saying this is going to be a BAD year.

Wondering if Upperman will have a let down after the big win over Gordonsville or be looking ahead to Smith the next week and let Monterey surprise them. They have some strong athletes up on the mountain. Did they come through the Cookeville game healthy?

What's the prognosis on the players he has out? Read somewhere they had seven starters out and three more hurt at White County? Are they due back or season ending injuries!

Did Manning play in the Alcoa game or did he have to sit out for his ejection in their last scrimmage?

I work with a guy close to the LA program, he says they are hurting this year. No QB and with the running back they were counting on off at the alternative school for smoking weed, they have no offense. Their top receiver was hurt in passing camp and out for the season. Is anyone hearing otherwise to be thinking this is LA's year again this year?

I heard last night that the Edwards kid is facing surgery on that knee. Don't know anything on the others.

I'm assuming Upperman has the advantage going into this one, but Monterey has some solid athletes and always plays Upperman tough. I've seen Cookeville scrimmage Upperman twice and play Monterey last week, but Cookeville is getting stronger every week so not sure those scores can be compared to predict this one. Anyone else seen Monterey play someone closer to Upperman's size and talent level!

Guy I work with has a son playing at UHS and said that their locker room was wallpapered with tweets from Kason and Bean talking trash about Upperman. Had to use tape to cover up all the profanity though. I'm assuming that's what motivated the student section. Maynard has a no social media rule for his players at Cookeville now. Might be a good idea idea for other teams to adopt.

I'm thinking SC in this one. Even is Kason is back, he just isn't the same caliber of player as Jalen and with UHS putting up big points on Gordonsville, their defense has to be questionable. However, anything can happen in a rivalry game.

I believe someone from Smithville has made that claim even before the big win over McMinnville last night. I'd say its still way too early to rule anyone out. Smith County lost to Alcoa - pretty sure most everyone in the district would have and LA lost but in the worst field conditions ever after a 30 minute downpour before the game. Still lots of football to be played before any bragging starts. York had a bunch out hurt and got a bunch more hurt last night. If they get healthy, they could surprise some people too.

Don't know who is drinking the most Kool Aid around here, but in Upper Cumberland Man's defense, Baxter beat a team that won a state championship last year that no one thought they could beat 60 to 14. DeKalb beat a Pioneer team that hasn't had a winning season in over thirty years. Seems like it's just one victory for each team to start a long season. Certainly no reason for Tigers' fans to be ordering their district champ banners or a new trophy case for their big gold ball.

Pioneer alum here hoping you are right.

Upperman's stadium is small on the visitor side. Better get there early or be prepared to stand.

Stone over LA based on their performance against Cookeville Trousdale over Macon heard Macon is way down again this year Alcoa over Smith just hoping the owls don't come out of that one with major injuries White County over York but haven't heard anything about York this year. Gordonsville over Upperman - I've seen Upperman against Ckvl. They were good for Upperman but word out of Gordonsville is they think they are all that again this year.

I saw Cookeville play in the Father Ryan scrimmage. They were bad. Is LA that bad or has Cookeville improved? Heard Cookeville has already lost some for the season due to injury so can't imagine that they have gotten that much better.
