No no no. You’re getting your Memphis all star teams mixed up. I’ll give you a break, because who could keep up. Heck, TSSAA sure can’t. Huntingdon has never played MASE. Ever.
Haha, I just got what you said. My mistake. You know what I mean lol...

Yep no other team is on a mission. Everyone stay home Mase is on a mission... give me a break if you think Dresden or Union City will give a inch. Union City comes to Dresden in the 3rd round after UC beats mase 28 to 14. Mase won't handle Union City's physical play.
I'm going to say pump the breaks here real quick my friend. MASE has answered the physical play. They did beat Huntingdon two years ago, and the did beat the breaks off Lake County last year and won against Peabody. Put a check beside the "can they be physical."
If MASE/Union City matchup next week, I think it'll be a bad matchup for Union City. Can the Tornadoes find a way to score 28 or 31 against MASE? Because Union City hasn't been able to score against quality competition the last two years. That's why I haven't been a fan of Union City.

Zero chance we watched the same game. JCS is simply not good at all with mosley off the field. Trinity dominated them in every single facet in his absence. Hope it’s nothing serious so we can get a playoff rematch
Disagree it's called not knowing your personnel. I watched all of their offensive plays on YouTube from the beginning of the game all the way til the 3 minute mark left of the 4th quarter. You're telling me that you have a 6'6 Tight End that's going to play football at Chattanooga, and all you can give him is 2 completions worth 10ish yards. JCS only threw the ball to him 3 times last night.
Daniel Green should give JCS 10 receptions worth 75-100 ish yards and a touchdown every single Friday night. However, that doesn't happen because the offense isn't creative enough, and it's not balanced enough.
I charted the first 20 plays of the JCS/TCA game last year. Mosley and Kam Boyd had the ball for the first 17 of the 20 plays last year. JCS' back up running back had the ball for the other 2 carries (Aldrige) and Green had it for the other play. In the game last night, JCS gave Mosley the ball the first 5 of 7 offensive plays. It's getting bad to the point where Kelly is getting tunnel vision. Kelly didn't roll out at all in the first half, but did it plenty of times in the second half.
All JCS did was answered my question, how good is their offense if Mosley is out, Mosley/Kelly isn't connecting, a defense is good enough to stop Mosley. You add in the turnovers and the long drive TCA had in the 2nd quarter, JCS was out of that game. I think JCS had the ball for 3 offensive plays in the 3rd quarter. With that being said, there will be teams that will see this film, and there is a formula to beat JCS, even if Mosley is healthy.

Tca is definitely a good team but everyone that watched the game knows Mosley going out was the difference
JCS is still a better football team than TCA without Mosley. Problem with them is what I said earlier in the season, JCS is too good to not half to rely on Mosley, but they chose to do so.

Hardin County locked up the region championship last week.
# 1 Hardin County# 2 South Gibson County
#3 Northside
# 4 Lexington
there is a scenario where if Lexington beats Hardin and Northside loses to Chester then 3 and 4 could flip flop. Think that’s right.
My understanding is the tiebreakers will be (1) Head to Head win, and (2) Overall record.
If your scenario is correct, Lexington will be the 3 seed (3-2 region record) and Chester County will be the 4 seed (head to head win over North Side.
If Hardin County wins, and Chester County wins, then you'll have North Side, Lexington, and Chester County with a 2-3 region record. All three teams did defeat each other, and lost to each other (example: NS beat Lexington but lost to Chester. Lexington beat Chester but lost to NS. Chester lost to Lexington, but beat NS). Then we will have a three way tie and everything will fall in place like it is currently. North Side is the 3, and Lexington will be the 4.
So, no fireworks will happen unless Lexington wins in Savannah. Which will be tough knowing it'll be Smith's senior night (I think), Hardin County will go for 10-0, and Lexington has a tough time scoring 21 points against good competition (only 19 points in last two games combined).

Class 2A Region 5: You can potentially have a 3 way tie for 1st place, or you could have a 3 way tie for 2nd place. Am I reading that right?

Meaningless game, that's why

What's going to be interesting about the playoffs in Region 7-4A and Region 6-2A is that the regions are going to be dominating the counterpart regions (8-4A and 5-2A), so there will be rematches this year. Is Haywood retooling? Yes. But Crockett County will likely get another rematch where they could very well use this week (game @ Fayette Ware) as a way to implement and try new wrinkles throughout the season. If Crockett County doesn't take advantage of that this week, then they're wasting their time to improve the team.
Haywood allowed 20+ points in a game 5 times this year. Last year, they only allowed 20+ points just twice. The point differential is down as a result of that. Haywood is willing to make their games a shootout, they allowed 57 to Obion Central, allowed 42 to Hardin County.
I do see the Tomcats making the semifinals, but that's only because Region 7 & 8 are weak regions as a whole. So, someone has to be a semifinal team. However, if you had Hardin County and a fully healthy South Gibson team in Region 7, then I believe both of those teams would be semifinal teams.

I wouldn’t base any pick off anyone’s record for sure. But having not seen LC or WC play a snap this year I don’t think I could make a good pick for the winner. I’m not making a pick on two teams I’ve not seen play.
You have to understand it’s one mans opinion. It’s not law no more than an AP poll is. BPM started this as a discussion poll based off what he thinks and he does put a lot of time into it. Boy it worked too cause there’s plenty discussion. So keep voicing your opinion , others may or may not agree with it but that’s ok too.
Mr. Bigster is correct here. Lake County is not playing FACS (JCS and Trinity exposed them), Harding Academy, and KIPP Academy on their schedule. I have no idea why West Carroll elected to schedule 3 Memphis teams to play, not my business either. It's tough to sit here and say "we lost to Camden, and they had over 200 penalty yards." and that's what happened to West Carroll this past Friday. If JCS plays West Carroll today, JCS wins the game by 40+ too.
You may not know this, but when the new regions came out last year, two teams I've noticed two teams tried to move into different regions. Humboldt football tried to move over to the region West Carroll is in now. I don't know why, but I think we can agree that it's due to competition. Better chance to win the region. If not, get the 2 seed and host a playoff game. That all happened before we've seen Humboldt play a down this year. Unfortunately, Humboldt got denied. Milan volleyball appealed to move over to the Gibson County/Halls region in volleyball. They wanted a "easier chance" to make it to state. That got approved, and they made it to the state tournament as a result of that.
I think he pointed Milan being 7-1. I don't want to bash on Milan, but if the SGC/Milan was correctly officiated, I don't think Milan wins the game. They were also trailing Chester County in the game, but ended up finding a way to win. Not saying Milan was "lucky" but luck is a part of sports. Everybody points at the record, and not on the film (I'll give you another example, PURE. We know they're better than 1-7 or whatever they are.)

Milan is beatable if whatever happened to Milan against adamsville happens against Trenton they will get beat.
Agreed that Milan is beatable, but if the Tide is going to play the way they did against Milan the same way they played against JCM (which I know they're not), then it's going to be a long night for the black & gold on Friday. I know it was a "look ahead" game for Peabody, but y'all pressed the snooze button too much in the first half against the Cougars.

No not a surprise at all. Maybe I should have kept that comment to myself but it's the truth. I have my on opinion on private schools but I will just keep it to myself. Good luck to whoever you cheer for.
I don't know if any of the Jackson schools "recruit" really. They do get some transfers, so does almost all public schools, but I don't know if you call that "recruiting."

I am not so sure that JCS is not the best team Lake County has played this year. They should be when they get to recruit the best players around Jackson and the surrounding area.
Yeah, Dyersburg maybe the best team Lake County played so far this team. I don't think your comment about recruiting is an appropriate comment to make. Everyone knew LC was a heavy underdog coming into the game. Was this a surprised to you?

At the beginning of the year, I could see Crockett County winning this game. Now, I do believe Haywood has settled down from their offseason distractions and will start to play Haywood football again. Haywood can score, but their defense isn't the Haywood defense like they were in the past. That does give Crockett County some hope. I may lean Haywood 42-20. For Crockett, losing to Huntingdon was the sign tale for me.
Crockett County is kind of who I thought they were. Good team, but not good enough

It maybe a bold prediction to some of y'all, but not to me. I believe PURE Youth will roll into Alamo and find a way to win this Friday.

If there's one game that should be an interesting game to go look at (not necessarily attend) would be the South Gibson/Lexington game.
We'll see if Lexington had gotten together over a rough September stretch where they lost to Memphis Business Academy and North Side in the final minutes. For South Gibson, a team that's 5-2 but haven't really played well to my standards. Won in 4 OT's to Chester County, and also won on the final play of the game against Dyer County.
Talk about luck in sports: South Gibson won two games where they portably could've/should've lost. For Chester County, the inability to finish is what is killing this team. They're 2-6, but they had leads against Trinity and Milan, both of those games, they lost. I don't know if they led the South Gibson game, but they lost in 4 OT's (as I mentioned above) but also lost to Dyer County by 1 point. Let's just say if they win 3 of those 4 games, they're a 5-3 team with two more winnable games to finish the year. Just shows that records aren't "everything" in my eyes. If everything went well for the Eagles and finish 7-3, you probably looking at Johnson in as coach of the year.
For Lexington, they can either be 3-7 and quit, or backdoor themselves to a respectable 5-5 record with a playoff game coming up. Just the fact they won 2 games in a row (I know it was against Manassas and South Side), but a 1-1 region record, Lexington window is still open for a 2 seed, but they have to beat South Gibson. If not, then Lexington/Chester County maybe the 4 seed/elimination game next week.

And Croppy, we can careless about Huntingdon Middle School defeating North Gibson County Middle last week, and what happened between the Huntingdon/Camden Middle school 20 years ago and why that makes an impact in today's game.

True, but move that game to week 5 instead of week 1 and the score would be flipped. With what you said though, wouldn't that put Mckenzie in front of us?
But y'all lost to McKenzie. Just let it gooo. Please, we're begging y'all to drop it.

Yep, but I recommend that you take your own refreshments. Liberty concession stand only takes credit cards (no cash). And, to buy something you have to scan their QR code, then type in credit card info, your address, find their menu online, order what you want, then go to the concession stand and claim your stuff. To buy two soft drinks took me a good 10 minutes. It’s the most convoluted system I ever saw.
And, the two drinks cost me $6.50.
You'll be better off heading to the Sonic or Burger King down the street and come right back.
Are they still doing that GoFan thing? If so, I think it's becoming borderline ridiculous if schools do that. No offense if Covington does that.

Ok, some of this is somewhat true. We got our butts kicked on Friday night. Westview looks like the best pass rush in the Region. But also, they played their first team defense (defensive line anyway) the entire game, even with a running clock. Maybe they had something to prove or an ax to grind. Well, they proved it.
Minor stuff: Got sacked 5 times with two intentional grounding calls on top of that. Call it seven if you wish. We were down our three top receivers. That didn't help.
Uninformed crap: We do have good coaches. The best we have had in 16 years in my opinion. We are just understaffed and undermanned as far as athletes go. We haven't had a 1000 yard rusher since 2017 and before that we had one for at least six straight years, still without winning a playoff game. Howell should fix the 1000 yard rusher, as he needs about 150 with two games to go.
Worse stuff: On Friday night, Westview had six unsportsmanlike penalties. Three of them after touchdowns. Looks like success was hard for them to handle. It's high school sports and yes, it does reflect on them and their coaches. Up 27-0 and still sucker-punching our kids?
A few tidbits on Bolivar football. After 2018, our coach made an impossible schedule (five non region games the winning percentage the year before was over .800) and left, making a recommendation to hire Montrell Craft over a local man that would still be here, in my opinion. But our previous coach had an ax to grind with him, I assume. Coach Craft is a good man and did a good job, but the schedule was way too much to overcome. Even so, we managed to win as many games with him in 2019 as we did the year before.
The next year, the 2014-2018 coach got a head coaching job and in July, hired most of Bolivar's staff at Fayette Ware. We had only three coaches for that year (2020), and COVID and it was rough. Coach Craft found a job closer to home after that and has had success. Bravo for him.
(by the way, our 2014-2018 coach basically did the same thing to Fayette Ware when he left last year...you can look it up)
We hadn't won more than 3 games since 2019, and we've won four this year. If we can win our last two, we might be the only team in 3A to have a better than a .500 record and not make the playoffs. Thanks TSSAA for an 8-team region. We have come leaps and bounds since we were left for dead. We do not have the athletes we used to have. But these teams have been my favorite to watch. And I haven't missed a snap since 2007.
And one more thing: Since 2008, we have had more penalty yards each year than our opponents. Except for the last two years. That is a sign that things are being done right. No more multiple personal foul games, which was the calling card of Bolivar Football the previous 13 years. You can look that up too.
We've never been in better shape, at least not since 2008, in my opinion. I don't know what the future holds, but I hope it's with these coaches and these kids.
Is Howell a senior? I know what the head coach did to y'all in those years from 2014-2018. I know it sucks...
Union City travels to Lake Co for final regular season game.
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted
Union City won, 10-6. Then, they played Huntingdon the week after, and scored 3. Imagine scoring 13 points in the final two games? That's tough.
Oh, and by the way, y'all played USJ, Westview, and Huntingdon last year in the regular season, and didn't score 21 in a single game. But hey, scoring 56 on Houston County seemed like a fun thing to do.
Lets move on to this year, scored 6 against Ensworth (a team you thought Union City could win because they had more "heart"), the following week y'all made the trip down to Jackson and lost to USJ, only scoring 19. And I'll buy you a dessert at the Longhorn/Olive Garden (whatever restaurant) you want in Union City because y'all scored 28 on Dresden.
Are you noticing a trend here?
