  1. So IYO, what "margin" is respectul? +14? +12? +10? An odd number maybe? I realize I'm being kind of a smartalec here, but come on, that's what these boards boil down to: prediction...no more no less. If you want to take my guess as disrespect you're entitled...kind of misguided, but still entitled nonetheless. It's not intended I can assure you, so to make it more appealing let's say it's a 3-pt game and RW's D still scores a TD, final score: RE +10.
  2. Who's disrespecting? I've watched 8-games of film O&D on SD...go back through my posts...nothing disrespectful by any stretch. Do I have confidence in Rockwood? Absolutely. Based on what I've seen on film do I think Rockwood has an edge? Yup! And what i said was that RW scores a defensive TD to give the +17-point edge. That's all. Take it how ya want to, but it all boils down to match-ups and execution...if Silverdale plays mistake free ball then it will be a tight ball game; if not then +17 isn't unrealistic...same goes for RW...if it can't execute on offense, then it's tight ball game. Which is what I said last week to when RW played GCA...RW forced 3-turnover on GCA - 2 which were inside GCA's 30. If ya can't execute offensively, then the score gets lopsided. Could have been a much closer score last week than it was...cause: lack if RW offensive execution.
  3. Puzj - "a tad tougher" !? Oneida, Harriman, midway, greenback, TP, Grace,..all playoff teams w winning records and good chances to advance is a "tad tougher" than sub .500 competition? You must have different kind of calculator than I do!
  4. Eyeintheskytn - more like pie-in-the-sky! Hahaha j/k RW rolls past Silverdale +17 due to pound and ground and a handful of significant passing plays. RW will score on D. Last week it forced 3-Gca turnovers. RW's D is tough and resilient.
  5. Best place to go eat at a ball game...TELLICO PLAINS...hands down the best food money can buy at a sporting event at the high school level...stadium needs a lot of work...but bar none the best food venue.
  6. Said it on another board...RW +17. SD has some great players...#'s 24 & 32 on D, and anyone in #-30's jersey on O are better than average playmakers...QB is solid but don't think he's a game changer. The idea that RW has some thing to prove is on point...first to themselves, second to everyone who wrote them off before the season began. I'm looking for a solid performance from both teams, but RW scores a defensive TD to give the edge and expand the scoring gap.
  7. My bad, pujo; I attributed a comment to you, when it should have been directed to Kaz; my mistake... But just to reiterate, Kaz, nothing I said inflicted any kind of blame on Oneida during our game...all I said, was RW best itself failing to execute. That's all.
  8. My bad, crow, I misread your intent of the comment; as to pujo, nobody's complaining...simply saying what killed us was back to back penalties and a missed regulation PAT. If we make the PAT, then perhaps O tries the FG...and regardless of the outcome the game is decided in regulation...but like dad always says, if, "if's" & "but's" were candy @ nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas. The long & short is...RW enters the game a bit banged up & and has been for a few weeks, actually going back to the GB matchup. In spite of that RW has seen other athletes step up toake quality, influential plays...as I said in my first post SD has some good players on O & D...but the playoffs is about a whole team effort and I think RW's team matches up a little better than Sd's. Nonetheless,
  9. Blindly picking? Really? Looking at film a looking opponents and stats is blindly picking? Interesting...w regard to O's win over RW...yeah the phantom was a deciding point in the game...what lost us the game was not being able to kick a single extra point in regulation...compound that w a failed fake kick missing the 2/pt conversion...that's what lost us the game...still stand by rockwood +17.
  10. I'm surprised anybody from Oneida would think that RW might get beat by SD. Other than to Gca, RW lost two games by a total of 2-Pts. Oneida lucked out against RW week-0 because of to phantom motion penalties when RW was I. The 4/yd line. Easy to forget after ten weeks or so.
  12. Looking at Silverdale on film, SD has some playmakers...just about anybody w a 30's # on their chest can play an 21 is is their sure hands guy. QB is solid...not great, but he won't lose the game unless he has unforced errors. They're solid offensively and have a calculated offense. Defensively, they get pressure from their ends. #32 seems to be a key playmaker on D. However they're a bend don't break kind of D. Rockwood has the defensive edge in this game. Don't over look RW especially if one saw the score of the RW v GCa game last week. rW forced 3-turnovers, 2 inside gca's 30 and couldn't capitalize. In spite of that, RW was 2 plays away from making it a 1-score game - 1-defensive and 1-offensive. Without question Gca is a good team and are the clear favorite...but RW has the edge int his game against SD despite the travel and Chattanooga stigma caused by past experiences. RW wins by 17.
  13. Polar sloth - i know what you're saying but I disagree...solely because just as the kids have to trust the coaches to prepare them for a matchup, the coaches have to also build trust in players to execute...the way a staff builds that collective trust is in practice...and that's what I'm saying about gca's preparation aka coaching is that they practice ball distribution which enables them to develop players' confidence to execute at a high level. More and more high schools are moving to high powered offenses with multiple players getting touches. Why? Because it puts increased pressure on defenses and often exposes one on one mismatches. why? Because it's more difficult to key and plan for 5 or 6 players on a field who might get the ball any given play than 2 or 3. Without offensive execution with a game plan like that, teams get beat; alternatively, defenses that can't matchup for that style offense and the mismatches are exploited by large scoring differentials. Quite honestly I love it. But tonight's game is about two teams w very polar styles...Gca is high powered multiple weapon and misdirection and rockwood is smash mouth ground and pound. I excited for the matchup and expect a must better game than what the "experts" think.
  14. Old eagle you Missed the point respectfully... The point is based on game film gca's athletes aren't head and shoulders better than everyone they've faced. It's been game planning and execution. It's naive to think that it's all coaching, but it's also naive to think that's it's just because of the athletes. Is Gca a good team? No question. But in this case it's more a testament to coaching philosophy than the athletes. Nobody's knocking the kids' abilities, all I'm saying is if gca's success this year were only about talent then where's all the D-1 prospects? And just because you type "fact" in all caps doesn't make it a fact. You're confusing talent for execution. There's no question Gca has dominated the district this far but it's due to coaching and execution because talent-wise there's not a lot seperating Gca athletes from others. Furthermore, a good coaching scheme with great execution will beat a team of all-stars 8 out of 10 times. Great athletes may win games, but it's great teams with great execution that win championships...that IS a fact.
  15. You make good points Kaz,but we didn't just lose Kyron, we lost Demarcus, a lot of seniors, and a couple other key boys to transfers. And that's why so many people wrote us off before the season began. These young men and coaches had to sack-up and grow up...and they've down just that. You may be right, but one thing I've seen in these athletes that separates them from Grace is that they've faced adversity and challenges all season long and overcome. Grace has been able to coast...don't be surprised when Rockwood starts laying wood and graces is once again shell-shocked. The only difference is this year rockwood will finish the job w a knock out.
  16. About being on radio, the AD said they could broadcast from the visitors sideline...channel 12 - BBB - wanted to broadcast the game live On tv and the AD wanted to charge them to do it...which Gca had the right to do, but c'mon, why charge when everyone in RoCo gives gca's personal reasonable accommodations and hospitality...Gca has a bad reputation not because of players, but because of admin, coaches and parents. Warranted or not that's the perception.
  17. Boss hog - I'm a parent of TWO ROCKWOOD TIGERS - and there's not many pairs of brothers on this team...on of them is in my pic...so... Who cares about deep pockets - heck I wish I had deep pockets so I could give our boys facilities like that! Rockwood would look awesome playing on turf! As far as any delusions - I'm well aware of the opponent, Kazam. What makes them a juggernaut is not their jimmies and joes, it's their x's & o's. Offensively they come out swinging for the fences and hit big plays to get up on a team early and then go to the trickeration and nickel and dime ya the rest of the game...what makes their defense so good is their offense...meaning opponents give up on their gameplay and try to keep pace with grace and they end up shooting themselves in the foot, making mistakes and giving up the ball via downs or turnovers. Why does it seem that they're so explosive? Not because they have the best athletes, but because they distribute the ball to anywhere from 6 to 10 or more athletes...it's aggressive play calling...plain and simple. Will beating grace be easy? Heavens no, that's why they're undefeated...are they capable of being best? Absolutely. Remember it took grace until the last half minute of the game to come from behind to beat rockwood... Rockwood should come out hitting, controlling the ball and going toe to toe defensively w gca's offense.
  18. It's easy to make excuses why a team loses...and even easier to put blame and pass judgment. The irony is that Grace is the Goliath and Rockwood, David. I think we all remember how that story ended. rockwood comes out the victor in a ground and pound rockwood-led slugfest.
  19. RW's defense wins this game - they're quicker up front, deploy greater QB pressure and against passing teams pick off passes like apples off a tree. The denfesive ends hit hard and tackles eat up everything in the middle. RW's smash mouth style offense will wear down the Gca D and cause the O to get out of rhythm. They'll be in for more than a battle, instead it'll be a back alley brawl. Grace hasn't been hit like RW will hit them since last year when GCa squeaked out a last minute TD. Don't forget Gca was picked to burn the scoreboard bulbs out last year too...rockwood wins a thriller. 28-21
  20. Furthermore, I couldn't careless if schools recruited or even paid for students to go to a particular school. These are still kids and kids deserve opportunity. That said, facilities are huge in modern high school athletics...where I'm from most high schools - public and private - have new turf fields. Who cares if Gca has one...instead of looking down your nose at them w a stink eye, figure out a way and means to provide something similar or better for your kids.
  21. I've read this whole thread...put it to bed: Kyron & Demarcus the RW xfers - are awesome kids. The largest majority of the RW family still love them and wish them nothing but the best. Quite frankly I don't care if you recruit or even pay for kids...these are all still kids. Kids deserve opportunities adults are supposed to act like adults and live and exemplify a higher standard.
