  1. anybody know what's the deal with the region bracket. claiborne finished 2nd in district, gap in 3rd and neither one is mentioned.
  2. may i second the magical uncchapelhill's congratulations to CG tonight on the big win over pigeon forge. not a time to gloat or even THINK about being in the clear however, with the upset of union county over rutledge, it paves the way for Claiborne to the championship game. With like coach58 stated, a BIG amount of most of all HEART....CG will pull off the upset over South Greene...and meet the all-time rival of Claiborne in the championship. makes for an EXCELLENT tournament...but good job CG boys keep this up.
  3. in response to coach58, i am by all means a SUPPORTER and also not ain any way biased towards just the seniors. but you have to understand, when there are starters, that's mainly the people that play...THE STARTERS.....so to see the talent that is going to be lossed is something that is capable of CG to bounce back from...but may take a year or two to get into gear. I have also followed the JV boys and know that given a year if that, they will be able to come back and make CG a powerhouse in the district once again. So if you misunderstood what i was trying to get across....then i apologize. but make no mistake, CG is my TEAM and i am a FOLLOWER, SUPPORTER, ANYTHING of them. Also i agree with your comment about the "6th man" Barry Brooks. i put that title because he is always the first to go in. He can play any position, is not a ball-hog by any means, and is 3rd in the state in free throw percentage. If for no other reason he should be considered a starter, or the "6th man."
  4. not to be in any way biased...but if Cumberland Gap is ever going to have a chance, it's this year. 3 of the 5 starters are seniors...with the "6th man" barry brooks graduating this year also. it'll take awhile for CG to regroup and fill the HUGE voids these players are going to leave. As an avid follower of this team, there is by no means a lack of talent to get them through to regions, or sub-state for that matter. It's just left up solely to the players to make or break their chance to truly dominate this year in the post-season.
  5. yeah, before all the district tournament stuff gets into FULL gear....everybody just take a minute and look at the teams in this district. no matter who came in 1st, it's been dead-even with most teams......it's been win one/lose one in the series, and that shouldn't be overlooked. for the caliber that these teams play at we have a very tough district tournament coming up. i pull for CG simply because they're PIMP but still this one's really up in the air.
  6. i think uncchapelhill has a very good point on the CG/PF match-up. i watched the teams play each other both times and i know that even though when CG has a good game there's no competition, PF has a very very strong team. I think a more suitable first game would be PF/Claiborne, and CG/Chuckey-Doak. A match-up like the one mentioned above is one further down the line in the tournament.
