  1. There is no doubt about your statement. Lewis County was very well coached. They were disciplined. They were classy. This discipline and class is what lead them to a 13-1 record. Make no mistake, for LC players give their all to each other and to their community.
  2. The mark of a truly great coach has nothing to do with the wins that were accounted for, nor the championships achieved, but, rather, for the husbands, fathers, and citizens those player become to be. That is the only scoreboard that really matters. Did football help you develop those qualities to be a better man far away from the football field? If yes, you had a good coach. No coach will ever know if he was truly successful for several years . . . until his boys have moved on and become productive members of society, faithful husbands, and viable and LOVING providers for their families.
  3. Yeah CPA just told me they run all their 40s in cleats as well. Dang, it should be a close game!
  4. That's the funniest response I've read on this thread.
  5. How do you dry clean a shirt . . . really, always wondered that?
  6. Never heard of pack rats. . . Where's that at? I like deals!
  7. Come'on, you don't know Fred's Pharmacy? We got a great one in Fairview, and I know there's one in White Bluff, but I'm scared it'll suffer mightily when our big Wally Mart opens. But that's okay, cause Wally Mart sells ammo, and Fred's doesn't. I've only been to Billy Bob's in TX, but that's a bar/mechanical bull riding/country dance club.
  8. I bet if you give CPA some money they'll move it. Just get your booster club to pitch in. Obviously, you understand that the TSSAA gets 50% of the gate regardless of where the game is played. The two teams split the remaining 50%. Believe it or not, MBA, BA, FR, etc., would actually charge CPA to use their field. So, if CPA and LC are both getting 50% of the gate, they should pay 50% of the rental fee to get another field.
  9. Reminds me of an ol' timer tellin' me, "Sonny, you're poor if you're havin' to sell your horse to get the saddle." I just said, "Yes sir, I am poor, but my grandaddy's got a horse for me."
  10. I like going to Fred's for detergent. What great deals they always have!
  11. And you also might be surprised that CPA actually has some really back woods coaches of their own.
  12. I predict the most physical team will win Friday night. That's my prediction that cannot lose.
  13. That same ol' gentleman also told me, "It's better to have a good enemy than a bad friend." Well said old-timer. Well said.
  14. Dear "Like a Rock", First, great picture of the dog upside down to prove the dog was not in pushup position. Secondly, have you gone back and looked at the definition of race vs. socioeconomics. I never heard back from you on that one. Lastly, as an ol' man at the general store told me, "Don't ever feed nuts to a man with no teeth."
  15. You make a few good points, and some points that are very much debatable. I grew up in a small town and currently live in a small town. So, don't tell me about small town living, for I know it. However, you have many more points of focus that I do not currently have the time to explore, for I will digress as well. Besides, the wife is winking at me, so I gotta run.
  16. I will retire my posting on this thread with a thought from a fella much wiser than all of us: "Men that are good for making excuses are seldom good for anything else." -Ben Franklin God Bless all of of us . . . and I seriously and earnestly mean that. We need His blessing.
  17. Granted, I have not heard you "hate" on CPA. I was just referring to the general populace on this thread. You (Slim88) and Swarm have seemed to keep a very level head. This isn't about CPA vs. FV. It's about the future of HS football in TN. The TSSAA is inept. And this ineptness applies to both private and public.
  18. I am actually very interested in this subject and I will do some further research. And I'll be sure to get back to you with my findings. I'm not sure why you have so many exclamation points, but I'll make sure I return my findings with as many exclamation points.
  19. You're exactly right neighbor. So, the west side has to fight against a private (CAK) and an open zone (Alcoa). I haven't heard ya'll hate on them like you have CPA. IF CPA can get buy LC, they'll have one massive mountain to take in Alcoa . . . cause Alcoa will whoop Upperman.
  20. You confuse me when you write over my text. That's like Congress. I've just realized you can quote somebody on here, but while doing so you could change what they wrote. That's scary. I've deleted your question from the quote. I might never post on here again knowing somebody could change what I wrote. But to answer your question, I'd say the TSSAA would lose a 1/4 of their revenue if privates left. I am saying this off the top of my head thinking only roughly about it. I'll run some #s and give you a better response later. 25% may not sound like a lot initially, but that's a painful hit. Again, the state of TN is kind of funny, because in some other states you had the opposite effect. We've had situations where the privates are so bad they elected their own association because they were getting killed by the publics.
  21. Postman, if you knew me, you'd know we're on the same team. I didn't "sense wrong". I just provided an analogy to get your attention. I'm in your boat my friend. I just encourage you to study financial facts before you go putting CPA in the same boat with Ensworth, MBA, and BA. CPA is on a different continent with those schools, a much lower continent. I encourage you to get to know some CPA families and get to know their struggles. And then I encourage you to get to know some Ensworth, MBA, etc., families and see what differences you find. You are profiling incorrectly. Trust me buddy, I'm from the far south side of the tracks. My kids do not go to private school, although I'd like to provide that opportunity for them. We'll see. My family will have a tough financial decision to make when they get to MS/HS age. Blessings to you Mr. Postman, and to all your family/friends that are haunted by a corrupt President and Congress.
  22. Well, that's a contradictory statement. Because if you looked at the public records of the private schools, which, of course, are accessible to all, you'd find that BA has more athletes on financial aid than any school in the state. However, they lost to Ensworth. So, regarding the contradiction, I guess it wasn't the best team money could buy. If you look at the financial records, CPA has no participating athletes on financial aid because that is the law. CPA would get crushed by the BAs, Ensworths, Baylors, MUSs, etc., . . . just like ya'll would. What you have to understand is that you have two factions of private schools, one set with money and one without. The MBAs of the world have tens of millions in their endowment. That's because MBA started back in the 19th century. CPA started in the 1980s. They barely have any alums making money yet, and your alums is where you get your dollars. I know it's hard to understand from the outside. . . but there is a big difference between the CPAs, Goodpastures, Nashville Christians, etc., and those fellas in the DII leagues. Eventually, this whole mess will go the way of several other states, and that is all the privates will join together . . . BUT they will dissociate from the TSSAA and form their own association. And while the Fairviews of the world may make the state championship games, this won't necessarily be financially viable for the publics. BUT, I hope so. I love communities like Fairview. I'm a rural guy, and I pull for the rural guy. I've just seen all sides of the same picture.
  23. Well darn it. . . I thought I had ya'll fooled. Actually, I've been a member since 2002. But I moved and could not recall my password. I could not redo my password because it was linked to my former defunct e-mail; thus I just re-registered. Don't worry, I go in spurts. You'll go several months, or more possibly years, without hearing from me. Again, congrats to FV. They fought hard. Very few teams go 11-2. That is a hard thing to do. So, humbly, congrats on a great season.
  24. Again, study your grammatical usage of contractions. And, I am definitely a "wannabe" Christian, because I truly know I am saved by grace. I'm a complete screw up . . . and ain't it awesome that God loves me anyway! Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic. I have a thousand faults, but God loves me and call me His. God is good. Not sure what your definition of a Christian is, but I'm just glad God loves me.
