Trenton is a big unknown right now. I know they have a great coach. That's why I picked them so high.

Josh Puckett is the coach at Lake County. Coach Barger left for Giles County. It was his choice to leave. I wish nothing but the best for Coach Barger. I support Coach Puckett and he has the fire and energy to win at Lake Co.

How will this district shake out in 2014? 1. Union City 2. Trenton 3. Lake County 4. Humboldt 5. Halls 6. Gibson County 7. South Fulton 8. Greenfield. Union City is the heavy favorite next season but I don't think anyone is ready just to hand them the gold ball. Humboldt, Trenton and Lake Co. should battle it out for second in the district. Halls could be a factor if they get the right coach. Halls lost several players from last year but they always have a few good athletes. Gibson Co returns several players. So. Fulton lost several players and Greenfield also lost a lot.

Lake county returns several starters from a team that went 5-6 last year. Must find a replacement for Raheem Flowers who played quarterback last year. Return 4 offensive linemen a area that must improve. Return all district running back Stavonski Wilkes. 3of their top receivers. Plus bruising running back Paul Caldwell who went down with an ankle injury. On defense they return 3 defensive lineman and 3 linebackers from last year. included in that group is Cameron Mills who led the team with 112 tackles. Return 2 to the secondary and a very large freshmen class coming in. One of the freshmen will see a lot of time on defense and offense this year. The falcons will have a full year under Coach Puckett and will know the system better. Lake County got off to a slow start last year due to coaching change occurring so late last summer. LC expects to be much improved this season with a deeper run in the playoff's. LC will surprise many this year. It's not a stretch for LC to finish second in the district this year. Humboldt, Trenton and LC will battle it out for those spots.UC should be the team to beat in the district and for the state title but anything can happen. District 14-A is a very tough district to play in.

Lake County is scheduled to play Dresden in a scrimmage on August 1 at Bethel. I am looking forward to this. LC returns several players from last year. This will be a good test for the falcons.

Bigster, I had to change my name. Anyway, the qb situation is Spencer to lose from what I hear. LC returns their leading tackler and several other starters from last year. Line play will be key but LC returns several in the line also. It's UC to lose but LC should be very much improved and could be a top ten team and make a surge in the playoff's.

I'll tell you team out west that will surprise people next year. Lake Co return 16 starters from a team that went 5-6 and played Humboldt real well both times last year. LC had a coaching change last year and had to replace 16 starters. LC played well down the stretch and improved as the year went on. Must play better on defense. Not saying state title good but very well could be top 10 good.

Halls talent usually runs in cycles. 5-5 seasons are more than likely most of the time but with the right coach who knows. They were powerhouse in the late 70's and early 80's but could never get by Lake Co.

Purple, you that Lake County does not mind playing UC. I look forward to that game more than any other. Most of the time they are barnburners. Makes LC better in the long run. I am glad UCv is in our district.

Totally agree with you about 14-a being the toughest district in 1-a in football and basketball. So.Pitt has a great team but not the level comp you see in 14-a every time out. There district consist of Marion Co and that's it. I know it's not their fault and they play as tough of non district as they can. Level of 1-A football in west Tn is very strong right now. Humboldt, Dresden, and a few other 1-a teams from the west would have played this particular So.Pitt team well today. UC totally controlled the game. So. Pitt could not run the ball and went to the passing game to late. This is no slight against So.Pitt. Great team and program.

Halls has decent talent. Playing in 2-2 in the playoff's don't help their cause much.

The local PPS station in West Tenn normally carry them but it looks like Play on Sports has a monopoly on these games. Just another way for the TSSAA fatten their pockets. If any one knows of any local channels around Lake Co are carrying the games please let me know.
