MARTIN WESTVIEW 5 CROCKETT CO 3 Game went for 2 hrs and 15 min in 40 degree temps, great game on both sides of the ball.

I have been down to the Old Barn in Memphis, It is not the best place in the world but for some, but it is all they have and they make good use of it! The Barn doesn't have the lighting or the fine surface that we see on our courts here in West Tenn. It is a throw back to the old times when you played on the floor that you had in the old gyms and that makes it a great place to play. I was inspired by the play of the girls on the floor in that old gym. It made us look bad because you have to always adapt to the playing conditions and we didn't that night. The floor had dead spots that made the ball fall away from your hand on the dribble down the court. The lights flickered and went out, some came back on!! Yes, you had to go through a metal detector coming in and the toilet paper was chained with a lock in the bathrooms. The number one thing was the game and you still have play it the same way the other team does. Let us be thankful that we have fine places to play and others have a place to play also. Everyone that was there that night came away alive and unhurt. No shots were fired!!! If you go, you better be ready to play ball, because they will be ready.

Amber Rechis scored her 2000 career point in the game last night. Congratulations to her and team on a great game.

Just wondering why stats for all the games are not being sent to Jackson Sun ? You are putting on a great tournament, I would think you would want to advertise the results of the games. A lot of parents and area High School and College coaches read this paper daily.

I have a motto that works great in the game of softball. Don't push it, shove it, or other wise try to change the direction the game or situation is heading. Play it out like you should and it will all come out the way it is supposed to at the end of the game.

What will be the rain schedule for the tournament? They are forecasting rain for Friday into Friday night. Will they play into the weekend, Sat. Sun. or start back in on Monday?

WESTVIEW 5 MILAN 1 Game was tied up 1 to 1 from the 1st inning till the bottom of the 6th. Great DEFENSE and PITCHING from both Teams.

This falls under the column of the umpires decision to make the call. The rule in the book is correct you must bring the hands together to start the pitch. The seconds are to keep the pitcher from quick pitching a batter. The same goes true for crow hopping it is in the book but the umpire must make the call.

Well said WildWest. It wasn't my intentions to single out 1 player, it seemed that WHS put the losses on the lone pitcher not having "A" games. The View is a team and always will be but in this sport they tend to look at individuals more in losses than in the wins. The tournaments are for looking how well your team competes with other teams that are in or around your district. Our Region has some of the best in the state. Looking forward to the upcoming games in our district and tournament play.

WHS What is your interpretation of an "A" game, and take into consideration that no pitcher has an A game every time on the mound. The freshman had 11 SO against Station Camp, 6 SO, against Ripley and a no Hitter with 9 SO's against Marshall Co. Westview did not win these games but it was not just the pitcher that lost the game, it takes the whole team to play the game and offense usually helps a whole lot. The Westview freshman combo of catcher and pitcher are young but very determined to win the game and the defense behind them is great. The bats just didn't get it done, plain and simple and it was a learning experience and no doubt will be a very determined team to come out of this tournament.
