  1. While I appreciate the efforts Joe is doing to improve our region I find it difficult to trace it all to him as you have so eluded. I personally feel he was/is a very high level wrestler and a great coach who is helping to elevate some of the individual wrestlers like Braden Ivey to be outstanding but in my opinion our regional growth comes from the coaches within the teams itself, each team has coaches spending time recruiting the hallways, time in the weight room, running summer programs inside the teams, building middle school programs and youth club programs. While Joe adds to the strength of the region, he is not the backbone or the core that is making it rise. Take a look at each team that is rising, its not an outside training source but a coach or two inside the team making it better. Roster numbers are growing and again that only happens from within. Now on the region: My top 5 #1 Science Hill - This team is ready to compete at the state level again if all the kids fall into the right weight classes. #2 Jefferson County - They are a full team with some solid kids throughout the lineup that will take advantage of FFTs by other teams and be our other state dual reps. #3 TN High - While I believe they give up a lot of FFTs I think they have 5 strong kids who don't loose against any other team except SH. Given the holes other teams have and Tim's ability to get the most out of his kids when needed I think they end up as the #3 team in our region but cant overcome a 24 pt. deficit to Jeff Co. #4 Morristown West - A strong up and coming team but has 2-3 holes in the lineup based on roster. I think they are able to barley beat DB for the #4 spot but are unable to knock off TN High. #5 DB - A good tradition and a good team but 2 holes and a bit stronger MW team pushes them to #5 this year. I don't believe they have enough fire power to overcome TN High.
  2. Science Hill has Wysong wrestling great with perfect timing heading into states. Win over December and a close loss to Sesnan as well. Science Hill and TN High are bringing the competition level back up in Region 1. I saw the Elijah Hicks final, congrats to the Seymore kid for the win however Hicks was winning and made a mistake which cost him the match win...he still looks good and If mistake free...should be in state finals again.
  3. Arlington proved it belongs in the rankings for sure. Solid win of course. Cleveland made a statement!! I believe a few teams will still change by Feb but for Dec rankings Cleveland goes to the top. Great weekend for wrestling. ObserverW, you were right. Good call on Arlington being under rated. I still gotta pull for East TN Science Hill and TN High.
  4. So basically the team that finished 3rd in the duals, 2nd overall at the State Tournament is not on your list. Interesting how TN High returns many, I expect them to change your mind...all it takes is 8 decisive wins! Based on the original post, Ranking for November and early December I would not have Arlington in the top 10 over TN High or Science Hill. That being said, I see Christian Brothers looks strong early, maybe you are more correct on that ranking being a bit low on the coaches poll. I could see them move up a bit. It will be interesting to compare the 2 lists after the first week of December. Not a bad list, but honestly I didn't think the original coaches poll was off much, but I only know the AAA teams. Hard part is when they don't cross over and wrestle each other head to head. Its easy to sit here and computer simulate who could beat whom...but until the kids actually wrestle it will never be known.
  5. Don't apologize. It is a discussion board. You simply have argued and been critical of the list and the voters...so put out your list. Go ahead and hurt feelings...I think your way too defensive of your opinions. I simply would like to see your list...so please do your research and give us your list. It will be fun.
  6. ObserverW, I have read your arguments, some valid some in my opinion not valid but one thing I have yet to see would be your list. You basically are claiming to be smarter, do better research or homework, and have a better pulse of TN High School wrestling than the voters...so don't stop! Put out your list!!
  7. Region 1 teams performed above expectation and finished out a great season strong with two teams in the top 6! Now hopefully our teams can perform this well as individuals and continue to find success on the mat.
  8. Great Job to both Tennessee High and Science Hill. Two teams in the top 6 is a really good showing for Region 1. Tennessee High did an excellent job with a smaller team and all the holes in the lineup this year finding a way to finish above most peoples expectations. Science Hill what a great job with a young team, looks good for the future for the Hill. Both of these teams help the rest of us in Region 1 to be better prepared individually for States and provide the blueprint on how to be successful in the state of Tennessee. Great Job again to all Coaches and Kids on these two teams.
  9. The Tri Cities area is a great place with as already mentioned some good programs established and working really hard to improve. I recently did the same thing, moved down from PA to the Tri-Cities area and currently am an assistant coach at David Crockett HS. We are in the process of building, we will have a middle school program in 2014/2015 for the first time and working to establish the AAU program as well. It depends what your looking for: Most of the schools mentioned already have feeder or good programs established and just need help in areas. Some schools have nothing and show up with 5-7 kids for a match. I guess for you, it depends, are you looking to be in an established program or build a new one? I was from Quakertown PA, south of the Northampton, Nazareth, Easton, Bethlehem Catholic hotbed. We had a solid program, 125 plus K-6th, 50-60 Middle School kids and then 30-40 HS kids a year. It was not a powerhouse, but a solid team. In our Region 1, we only have a few teams like that: Science Hill, DB, Tenn High and Jeff County and then Greenville in Small School. If you want to chat with a PA guy on this give me a email and I will then give a phone, don't want to post up phone number on open forum...thanks and good luck Tennessee is a great place to move to and the wrestling in Tri Cities is not bad, as a collective group we are trying to make Region 1 better and the teams here do work together to make that happen. mhbach64@gmail.com Mike (Zach Bynum Dad)
  10. Also Placing for DC at Brawl in Hall 106 - Tristan Hefner - 3rd place 106 - Mike Kromoff - 4th place
  11. Hamilton is at the number one ranking at 152. He was/is on the preseason rankings as #1...maybe you just missed him.
  12. This was a really well run duals and should be considered next year by a few more of the teams that went to the PF duals. The competition was good, several tough matches for our TN state place winners. For the most part many of our TN kids looked good. Well worth the trip. Big Thanks to Tim and the other coaches involved for putting this together. It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to put all of this together!!
  13. Thanks, makes perfect sense! That is a shame for Soto and Blanco both at JC. Lets hope no more injuries from our Region.
  14. King Green, thanks for the post on top 4 seeds. Any idea why our region is not viewable until Friday 7am while others like Region 2 and Region 5 are up, so is Region 1 AA.
  15. Musa (Overton) he dropped to 106 in early Jan and will be tough at 106 if he goes there post season.
