I concur!!! This is what a good athlete is taught compete no matter who you play and do everything in your ability to perform at your highest level!

Alcoa builds a program from all county's surrounding them and anyone who wants to travel there to play ball because of open enrollment. Let's not act like all those kids are zoned for Alcoa. As far as rules are concerned. If you want to split public and private fine do so that would be great in my opinion but then all public school kids go to the school they are zoned for regardless of race, and then you will have another complaint because little Johnny is only two miles over the line, but wants to play for Alcoa and you will be the first one in line trying to get that Zone stretched. Play the game regardless of where you are, play the game regardless of who you have to play. Playing better and stronger competition only makes athletes better and stronger. It almost sounds like the bully syndrome where if you cant pick on the little guy then you find some other little guy to pick on, and you never want to fight someone bigger or better than you! It's so funny to hear about all these recruiting situations and I guess TSSAA just turns the old blind eye because of the money blah blah blah boooo hoooo. So is it ok for public schools to have open enrollment?? And as far as public school having dual enrollment sure they do. Its still not anywhere close to college prep schools. Please for the love of God split so mediocre people like you dont have to play these superior athletes and you can get that all mighty trophy you chase. The problem is people forgot what hard work and competition really is about and like you said everything has to be fair!! Hey lets not even keep score and all hold hands and sing songs together after the game. That way no one is better than anyone else. Hate for Little Johnnys parents to keep living thru him and see him get beat its just not fair. I wonder if Appalachian State said its not fair we have to play Michigan in football?? Oh wait the less superior athletes won that game. Get your own second rate public school league please and be satisfied with not playing the best or trying to be the best.

I say split then let the real recruiting begin. You think those public school coaches are mad right now just wait until their super star gets a little financial aid and mom and pops jump public school ship to send him to a school with college prep classes and notabilty so super star can get that D1 offer they been dreaming of.

I love this debate. You think the public schools coaches are mad right now at these private schools?? Wait until all of the privates go D2 and can financial aid and offer all those star players on those public school teams money for tuition. Then those coaches will be whining about that. There is no solution that is going to satisfy everyone. Then you have open enrollment with public schools to deal with also. If Ensworth gets dorms and starts boarding they will have athletes from all over the country, not just Tn. I would love to see a split actually and Trousdale Co will still not be the best team in the state only second best to the D2 single A champion!!!

So this Mitchell team is that good? Have not got to see them play. What are there strengths and what was their competition like this year? They seem to have a good defense judging by the scores through district and region. I got to watch Goodpasture vs SaleCreek last night and I can tell you that Goodpasture team is loaded with shooters. I think they will be a tough matchup for anyone if they shoot like that throughout this tournament. Very talented team loaded with seniors I think a parent told me they have 7 seniors. Their coach was into the game from start to finish too very fundamental team well coached and a lot of depth. I would like to see this Mitchell team vs Goodpasture should be a good battle.

I agree and it's hard to match up with that much depth is all I am saying. It's different from a CPA with Two Big Men who are going to play D1 for a large University and one great outside shooter. It just seemed to me that Goodpasture could of let the manager get on the floor and he would of drained 3's too. Every player on that team can shoot from anywhere on the floor it was crazy, I know they shouldn't beat teams in the Tournament the way they have thru the season but if you haven't seen them play ask some of these teams who had to face them how they shoot the ball. I would venture to say you better have 7 deep to matchup against them and then it would still be a low scoring game because they pressure you the entire game at least that's what they did to Sale Creek who definitely had the size advantage, but it is basketball and if Goodpasture's buckets aren't falling and a well coached team with some talent pressured them then they will get beat. Anyone can lose at this stage of the season but it was sure fun to watch them shoot the ball last night. I only hope these other teams can shoot as well and we have some really great games. Its all about buckets!!! Goodpasture can sure shoot that ball!!! I was able to watch the sectional against Sale Creek and its been a while since I seen a team with that much depth. Height maybe an issue in the Tourney though, but don't leave Goodpasture open or its going to be a long night for anyone. Like Uncle Drew says its all about BUCKETS!!

I get it now. So what your saying is if TC can't beat someone you don't schedule them? That teaches the rest of your athletes in those other sports that you have no faith in them. This is the worst example you could teach any athlete. I can hear the coach now sorry but we don't believe in you and you can't compete so we are not going to schedule those schools. Cowardly and very unsportsmanlike!!! I do know this if you ever had a chance to beat a Goodpasture softball team this would of been the year. I hear they have no pitching. I bet those young athletes on TC Basebal and Softball teams would love to play whoever whenever but parents dont believe in them.

Well duh its not real it was a joke. But taking a picture of a guy with a white shirt with jeans filming his child play ball and saying it was a opposing teams parent or coach cheating is blatantly idiotic. People crack me up lol.....

Is the kids at these private schools really that great? Are parents saying that their public school kids are not as good? What's really the debate? I am sure you don't hear this argument when public schools beat a private school? The last time I checked my public school children put their pants on one leg at a time just like the private school kids. It has a lot to do with how kids are raised today and if we give them an excuse to why someone is a better athlete or not. I played highschool football for a public school that was about as redneck as you could of got, but I loved when we were playing the private schools because I had a coach who believed it didn't matter who we were going to play we were there to win and compete. My senior year we got beat by Brentwood Academy who won the state title and we also beat Goodpasture who also won a state title. I would rather play the best competition to make me a better athlete. Just remember it is not always about wins and loses. You don't get better playing horrible competition. We should be telling our athletes it don't matter who you play your going to go out there and compete and believe you have a chance to win. Just because a team has the most talented players don't mean they always win. (ask those major league teams who spend millions and don't make the world series even though they have the best talent) Hard work will beat talent any day if talent refuses to work hard. I say bring on the best and my public school kids will play you anytime and anywhere, because regardless of wins and loses we got better and that's what sports is truly about!!

No I believe what they said were not all private schools are Christian schools! Where did you read he put Goodpasture is not a Christian school, and why are you so against Goodpasture?
