  1. hchs is playing some great basketball. should be fun to watch
  2. Nick Hopkins (Fayetteville) and Demarco Jackson (LEAD Academy) are both players to watch at 1A. Both are c/o 2016. Jackson was driving force in lead's run to state last yr as a sophomore.
  3. didnt get to play against him but saw him play MARIO MOORE was a scoring machine
  4. the district is much more competitive this yr. Last yr East Rob had a combination of size, shooting, and experience that helped their run. LEAD had several issues early season that they corrected to go on their run. This year LEAD has a front loaded schedule, playing alot of stiff competition early. Their record doesnt reflect the talent on that team. Houston Co is much improved, which is proven by their 17 point win against East Rob last night. McEwen and Nashville Christian will also compete for the district title. NCS scored a huge win last night at McEwen. Austin Fisher is a flat out scorer for Clarksville academy, which will always make them competitive. Teams to watch: LEAD, McEwen, and NCS. Players to watch: Demarco Jackson (LEAD), Austin Fisher (CA), and Chase Clark (Houston Co)
  5. I was just at the 7th grade AAU tournament and i watched coach Maddux approached several of the top players at the tournament. He even approached my son and went as far as to offer "a sponsor family" if i was unwiling to move to nashville with him. Its funny hes hailed as this excellent coach yet his team didnt even finish in the top 8 in the D2 division at the 7th grade tourney. Its easy to win HS championship when you run an AAU team on the court to compete against teams that have to develop talent based on whats available to them locally. Maddux uses these aau tournament as recruiting tools. Its unfair to the kids that have to compete against these teams each yr.
  6. LEAD loses a few seniors but returns several players that played significant amount of time this season. Jackson will be a name to remember, as a sophomore he was the best player on the floor on most nights.
  7. Stanley Valentine (Hampton) zy ?(meigs) demarco Jackson (LEAD)
  8. The kid hicks is one of the best players you've never heard of but he is also one of the bravest. Playing with 4 fouls, not only did he draw a charge on Blackwell (his 5th), but Bonds as well. Maddux is one of the cockiest coaches I've ever encountered. CPA took the floor with a mentality that no one could beat them. Maybe they should stop padding there schedule with the cupcake teams and actually play quality opponents during the regular season. That way when they actually take the floor against somebody that's not intimidated, They won't fold. 1-3 in close games doesn't seem so elite. Replacing bonds, ausmiller, and Richard means one of two things. Drew Maddux will be active on ribals.com and the aau seen searching for the next great "transfer" or it's off to another school. Either way "the best team money can buy" should have spent a little more money on depth
  9. lead has been around for four yrs. They only been qualified to play as a tssaa two years. These kids have been in the program. Not one is a recruit. That's how you end up with 5 snr and 7 jnr. Lead started a 6'1 center and 5'10 pf. Wouldn't it make sense for a school in the basketball rich area of Nashville in which they are located to have recruited players with size. If in fact they recruit as you said they do. Fact of the matter is this, everyone wants to hop on the next hottest thing. After making a run to the elite, that next hottest thing is LEAD academy. Winning is the ultimate recruiter, so call it what you may, but the future at LEAD academy is bright
  10. Well played game. Mitchell's coach made a gutsy decision to hold the ball the last two min of regulation that almost came back to bite him. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. The kid from gp missed the front end of regulation, the kid hadn't missed a ft all season. The tech was the right call, the hunter kid is a great player but is sometimes too cocky. I was sitting on the baseline that the play happened on. The call was accurate, hunter knocked the ball out. Correct call or not, state tourney officials ref with a slight bit of arrogance. Anything perceived to possibly show them up won't be tolerated. Whether it's in overtime at the state tourney or the first quarter of a regular season game, rules are rules. Gotta be smarter than that
  11. Contrary to popular believe LEAD does not recruit. This is a team whose head coach left them just before the start of the season. They are a bunch of kids who worked their butts to get here. Imagine change head coaches just before the start of the season and having to not only learn a new coaching staff but also new coaching philosophy. It took the first part of the year for things to fall in to place. Hats off to Hampton they played an excellent game but don't downplay LEAD'S effort as a team that recruits. Simple work, determination, and effort got them where they were today. They just came up short today. Get used to seeing them because they aren't going anywhere
