  1. No worries & I was not offended. Just clarifying. Like you, my money would be on Farragut this year too but it would not have been on them last year & they got hot at the right time. Baseball is a crazy game & anything can happen. Hardin Valley has lost several games but they are a dangerous & talented team & will surprise people down the stretch I bet.
  2. Farragut has not played Sevier Co this year so not sure how you saw them play & Farragut is every bit "as good as usual". The went 3-1 at the NHSI against some of the best teams in the nation. They have the deepest pitching staff I've ever seen. Their #4 pitcher pitched a no hitter against the best team from Indiana. Their lineup is stacked with hitters, too. Of course, anyone can be beaten in baseball on any given day. To answer the original question, I think Sevier County is definitely legit. In fact, I think Farragut & SC are the only legit state title contenders in ET. I thought Hardin Valley was but they are not playing well & have lost several games to below average teams. HVA lost to Farragut tonight 12-0 in 6 innings
  3. Very true statement. Pitching will dominate hitting for a couple weeks.
  4. Sevier Co will be very good this year. Who are the 9 D1 signees they have?
  5. Not an opening day game but Farragut plays 3 teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation in the first 2 weeks of the season & 7 teams ranked in the top 20 in the first 3 weeks of the season. This is why you can't let overall records fool you. Dobyns Bennet will 35-2 or something like that & be ranked #1 & will not make it out of region.
  6. DB will be overrated like always but they are not a legitimate state contender. Ravenwood & Siegel are better than Riverdale. I think last year was Riverdale's best shot & they overlooked Ravenwood in their opening game of the state tourney and got run ruled. Otherwise, they probably win the state last year.
  7. I'm not sure Hardin Valley's mission can overcome Farragut's talent being better. I think that may come down to Farragut's bats are just better than Hardin Valley's bats from top to bottom. One thing is for sure, Patrick Raby v Will Neely will be a great pitching duel to watch & I think Farragut will have a better chance of getting to Neely than HVA has of getting to Raby. However, HVA will put small ball pressure on Farragut and hope they make errors. Someone told me HVA beat Farragut last 4-3 or something like that and didn't hit a ball out of the infield. Either way, those games will be worth watching for HS baseball fans. Tons of D1 talent all over the field for both teams.
  8. Anyone mentioning Science Hill & Tullahoma is not informed statewide. The conversation should start in District 3 AAA w/ Farragut & Hardin Valley. They are both loaded. It should continue to the mid state with Siege, Ravenwoodl & Riverdale & go west with Houston & Arlington. In upper East Tennessee there is DB & nobody else even close. DB is not a state contender even though they will have a gaudy record & be highly ranked in the state. In AAA there are only 3 state contenders in ET: Hardin Valley, Farragut &..... Wait for it.... Wait for it..... SEVIER COUNTY. They should be very good this year. Middle Tn only has 3, as well: Riverdale, Ravenwood & Siegel. West Tn only 2: Houston & Arlington. Top 10 in order (I don't care about records. This is who will win the state Championship) 1. Farragut 2. Hardin Valley 3. Siegel 4. Houston 5 Sevier Co. 6. Riverdale 7. Ravenwood Really, these are the only teams that realistically have a chance. Super talented year for Tennessee. Very very good players all over the state. Prediction: Farragut or Hardin Valley will win the state championship in AAA
  9. UNC is not your average school to get accepted into & apparently, he was offered & accepted to SEC schools & other D-1 schools (Miss St. Ole Miss, Auburn, Clemson & others) but just really loves UNC for some reason. I wish the kid all the best this season & in the future. So, back to the original question of this thread, Are Farragut & HVA possibly the two best teams in TN this year? It seems there is an unusual amount of very high level talent in TN this year.
  10. I spoke with Buckner today & Fullington had to retake a class in the fall & is signing in the spring signing period. I had a cross checker tell me that Fullington had the best swing in the state & one of the best he'd ever seen in HS. He said he is very young physically & hasn't grown into his body yet & is still weak but will be a beast at UNC once he matures.
  11. Farragut has 3 big time D1 commits in Raby (Vandy) Fullington (UNC) & Pence (UT) along with 2-3 other commits/ signees & HVA has 2 big pitcher prospects in Neely (UT) & Thompson (uncommitted) alING with 2-3 other commits/ signees. There are a ton of good players & teams in TN in 2015. Maybe one of the deepest talent pools ever in TN. Siegel, Riverdale, Ravenwood, & Houston all are very loaded. Should be a good year for HS baseball in TN.
  12. Pretty sure Farragut lost 1-2 starters in the field have 3 D1 commitments/ signees. Pence- UT, Fullington-UNC & Raby- Vandy. They're all state catcher, Mascia, returns, as does their junior CF Morgan. I also have heard they have a couple young guys that are D1 prospects. The two best teams in the state may come from the same district & be Farragut & Hardin Valley.
  13. Man, how do they keep reloading talent like this?
  14. I was almost right on DB being 2 and done. However, I did see them play down here & they were better than I thought. Just a few too many holes in their lineup & just some tough breaks. It seemed every time they got something going that one kid came up that just couldn't get anything going with the bat. They had to have stranded 30 runners or more in 3 games. It was a good showing for DB and really everyone in the tourney so far. I'm changing my prediction after seeing all teams play and I'm going with Houston over Farragut in championship.
  15. I guess we're about to see where Riverdale is since their pitching depth is going to come into question today. They have to beat Farragut twice & if they do then they get Houston or Dyer County tomorrow. After seeing this young Farragut team play in Murfreesboro, I'd be surprised if Riverdale beats them but stranger things have happened.
  16. Only one major fact overlooked... 1990 Knox Central team is only undefeated team in TSSAA history at 31-0
  17. Farragut's dominance has been remarkable. Really, it's been unbelievable. Thanks for sharing these stats b/c it puts it in perspective just how hard it is to make it to state & then to win it.
