  1. You make a big assumption. D2 does not guarantee anything unless the school has the dollars floating around. Boyd may not have the cash. Additionally D2 effects more than just football. Much more expensive.
  2. I fail to find any humor in your statement.
  3. This is by no means to take away from anything the coaches do or how the team plays, but the old school player in me comes out at times, and I know we all like to discuss what we would do or how to do things....I was at the FRA game (grandson in band) and a couple of observations. 1. #3 did get better in 2nd half, but appears to be more productive up the middle instead of running outside. Boyd is missing some speed in the backfield. Not sure if injuried players help resolve that or not. 2. #3 has good hands and could be utilized more out of the backfield instead of the sideway runs. Boyd passes much better than they run. 3. #86 is most under utilized weapon on the team. My era said a TE was a blocker. Period. #86 is a rare hybrid. Runs extremely well, big, and has some of it not the best hands on the team. Just my opinion...hoping Bucs start a winning streak soon.
  4. Major difference between two schools is depth...Boyd line typically goes both ways.. Three major turning points that could have provided some energy for Boyd: 1. After fumble recovery by #86, first play by Boyd was fumble, which lead to easy TD. 2. Inability to put the ball in the end zone after a 17 play drive. A couple of sacks hurt, and probably would have been better off to throw ball and have a receiver make a play 3. Another fumble by Boyd where MC returned the ball 60+ yards. Too many turnovers and stupid mistakes again when the game was still in doubt.
  5. I'm not aware of any 2A school that plays as tough a schedule as Boyd. The 2 Division II schools Boyd plays are actually really good teams. As long as they can make it through the non conference games and not get beat up I would agree with your statement.
  6. I like to stay focused on this year.. 2015 is a long way off!
  7. Lose 6 that play. Fortunately, backups in the positions they lose are strong, minus a big running back like #3. Both offense and defense will be as good or better next year.. but this is this year. Looking at previous threads, no way anyone in District beats Boyd this year.
  8. Bucs are improved, but so is Red Bank, which had big size advantage in line. Bucs lost some major offensive and defensive players (#5, #86) to injury and heat. Red Bank appeared to lose none. Red Bank also appeared to have totally different players on the line for offense and defense.. Bucs only have 1 sub there. I think without the heat, Bucs win 7 out of 10 times.
  9. Good game. Heat and injuries seemed to take its toll on Boyd more than Red Bank, probably due to fact that RB much larger school with more subs. Even so, Boyd hung with them. 2nd half injury to #5 and heat cramps to #86 didn't help, since both play both ways on defense and offense. A couple drives Boyd failed to score on would have been different with those guys running, blocking and catching passes. QB had too much pressure on him, especially with a lack of productive running in the backfield. Overall good game, and one Boyd could and maybe should have won...hope no one is happy with being competitive with Red Bank and almost winning.
  10. Opening games are tough to predict a winner, especially when teams are similar. Boyd should be considered the underdog, especially against a much larger school. Watched both at Jamboree Friday. Boyd obviousy did not have to show much against a much less talented team. Red Bank ran a 3/4 defense that looked like it was set up to stop a power running game, which Boyd does not appear to have as its strength. Big receiver targets (#21 and #86) could make difference in game if running attack stalls. Toss up in my opinion.
  11. Probably so. Boyd does get some decent coverage at times.
  12. Newbie to the board and Boyd, and have youngster coming up in the ranks, and have followed Boyd football for several years. Noticed in the papers the Dirty Dozen, and must wonder why Boyd seems to never get any players mentioned? Could it be 2a size school, or athletes just not there? I watched the Blue/White game, and the East Ridge scrimmage, and there are several athletes I saw that look like they have potential at next level. Big receiver guy, big running back/linbacker guy, big TE/DE guy, and maybe others? Just curious about these guys and maybe others that have a chance.
