Who will be Warren County's next Head Coach?
AlltimeVOL replied to Pioneersports's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
I am not thinking of anyone in particular just a young coach to get a start. Yes I am aware of the Super 32. Any coach that is winning is not going to ruin his record at Warren County. Warren County hiring committee needs to forget about getting a coach with a good resume. Hiring off a resume is not the answer. Hire a good solid young coach that really wants it. -

Why hire a re-tread? Most schools do this. If your going to lose why not give a young coach a shot. Nothing to lose. Any coach that is winning is not going to Warren County unless their is a problem somewhere. Take a chance hire a young coach. Hire someone that has energy to burn. Most re-treads are not going to have the energy to make Warren County a winner. -

That is about how many times Smith has changed jobs. His only real success has been at small schools. -

Any word who they are? Is Mac McCurry on the list? -

Putting in the years does not make you qualified to be Head Coach. It is Quality that counts. Someone with leadership skills and the ability to teach football techniques and motivation. -

"real" coaching experience is not always good. Your last coach had "real" coaching experience and look what that got you. Give a young coach a chance. He might have enough energy to bring more players out. Any Head Coach that is doing well where he is at will not be interested in Warren County. That only leaves you with someone that is willing to take a chance or someone that knows his days are numbered where he is out now. -

It is going to be hard to get someone to move to McMinnville to take a beat down that the Pioneers are going to be getting in this new district. Most coaches think this is a dead end job. -
Warren County coach going to Franklin County
AlltimeVOL replied to rickgrimes's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
I think you are correct. Tooth is bitter also. Winchester has a bunch of bitter people now. Breakfast club wants a whole new administration. They want the BIG THREE gone. -

Down at Breakfast club the DOS, Princpal and AD have lower approval ranking than the White House. Tooth had the hire set up before he fired Carr. No one else was considered. -

Yep, The old gal at the top gave Tooth his orders. Tooth is going to have to stay within her guidelines. Probably means more of the same. Anywhere from 0-5 wins per year. Same old song . McCurry has not been interviewed by the old gal's instruction. -

Hardees breakfast club said McCurry did apply. Also find out that Carr had a better record than Tooth did. The feeling down at the club was Tooth would not make a good hire. Probably not going to gain much with new hire. DOS Scharber does not care about winning. Winchester would probably be better off waiting till she is gone. Maybe Tooth could come back for one year and pad his record. -
Blackman, Coffee County, Cookeville, Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna and Warren County. It looks bad for Coffee, Cookeville and Warren to get some wins in this region. It looks like Coffee and Warren are going to lose their coaches. I am thinking that Coffee and Warren would be better off to play a mostly non region schedule and forget about the play-offs.

I don't think members of the old staff want to give it up. So they are going to try to pull for someone that will retain them. Carr might have done better without the staff that was appointed to him. -

Whoever gets the job needs a free hand to choose his assistant coaches. Hayworth and Grub may not be who the new coach wants. Seems like Carr had the same problem. Someone else picking the assistant coaches for him. The new Headcoach needs to be in charge. Winchester could use some new faces to change the culture. -

Your right. I don't know if Winchester wants to win football games. It seems like people in the system are fighting more for their own best intrest rather than have a coach that can win football games. -

I suspect that has been the way for quiet awhile. Maybe that is the way its going be. I think some inside the system don't want to give it up. They know McCurry will weed them out if hired. -

If McCurry gets the job the railbirds will be gone. They will know who is in charge. No coaching by committee. Some may not want McCurry because of that. -

That is right. Anyone that has seen a McCurry coached team knows that they block and tackle plus they will have discipline. All the things Winchester lacks now. -

If McCurry wants the job give it to him. Give McCurry the code of conduct you want and ZERO tolerance. Newspapaper writers want to sell papers. I don't know how accurate they are sometimes. McCurry would win 8 or more games in his first year. Coaches from other schools would have their work cut out for them to beat him. I say forget and forgive his rough and rowdy past and win a lot of football games. He is a changed man and I bet if given the chance would prove it. -

I am not defending McCurry but he can coach football. Western Kentucky and Louisville gave Petrino a second chance and its paid off. Lets not bash people for mistakes. We all have made them. -

The way I understand the Jasper situation was that two adults painted things on the fieldhouse. McCurry was not one of them. You might say someine told them to do that. Maybe but the adults that painted things on the fieldhouse are the responsible ones. These things have gone on since football rivarlies started. Army steals Navy's Goat, Navy steals Army's mule. Turn the heat up in the visitors locker room on a hot night. Cold showers for visitors. Send dead flowers to the other team. Homecoming parades displaying things about the other team. Painting things on the field house might not be right but no bodly harm occured and I don't think anyone was marked for life over it. Actually it was kinda funny.
