  1. Good criteria! How much head coaching experience does Ron Gray have? Ole Dad
  2. Interesting Blog in Oak Ridger today that says that Emory Hale recommeded that Oak Ridge go to Florida and hire a coach from one of Florida's State Champions. I guess Pahokee, Plant City, Lakeland, St. Thomas, and some Miami teams qualify under that option. Ole Dad
  3. Not sure of his exact record but seem to remember that someone posted that it is something like 14-65-1 or so. If that is not correct please post the right record if you find it. I don't think that is what we are looking for. But, dang, we might be based on the last hire. Ole Dad
  4. Yeah, the sun must be good for football. Let's see, the current High School Football National Champions and College Football National Champions are from which state? Oh, I forgot, you already knew that. One thing Ole Dad does know is about interviewing and hiring the best, most qualified and dedicated employees. It doesn't matter if they are teachers, coaches or engineers the qualities you look for are the same. Including all the Stakeholders in the process is a little important. I'll make sure that CoachT upgrades and includes spell check in the next version since that is apparently important to you. Ole Dad
  5. Lets see, compared to Stanton Steven, Joe Gattis is a saint. He could actually be your next Pope if Stevens is your benchmark for a coach with character. No wait, Stevens was a character, you are correct. He was the last great hire made by the clowns that are still in charge of the decision and have now chosen to do it without any community input. I'm pretty sure that there are many people that live in Oak Ridge and support the team and are ex-wildcats that could be a great asset to the selection process, but wait, we can get these four clowns together and just pull a name out of the hat. Maybe it will be a Hells Angel and he can just take over the antics of Stevens and make the players, parents and community proud. Ole Dad
  6. When Bailey, Green, Carringer and Mullins are replaced the new staff will be able to do a proper search next time with participation from the people that actually pay their salaries. Their main problem is they want to operate in a vacuum and none of them are inteeigent enough or qualified enough to do their jobs. If they were good leaders they would seek input from ALL the stakeholders. But alas, they are all morons. Ole Dad
  7. Sounds like he is a candidate to consider and some people hold him in high regard. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream....personal preference. I just don't happen to have the same opinion, and that doesn't make any of us wrong...only in disagreement. Ole Dad
  8. I guess Bailey must have just approved Mullins getting internet access today, cause I know he has been working on this for weeks. Ole Dad
  9. It's like the Kats and Jammer kids are running our schools now. The sports issues are reflective of the academic failures of this bunch being led by the incompetent Bailey and Green duo. I wish Mullins well in his task, but he has no chance despite his apparent and purported good intentions. Ole Dad
  10. Care, You might be correct. My only point is "if Mullins hands were tied then why can we assume he has any ability to do the right thing now?" I hear people say he hasn't even looked at the applications over the 3 week holiday and I would say that is incompetent if true. But, heck there are lots of rumors and some say he has been interviewing and has a deal in the works. Ole Dad
  11. Read your post. The word assume is not in it. You said, " According to my source, Mike Mullins hasn't even LOOKED at any applications yet so no, there is no done deal". Mullins has taken the last 4 years off so why should him taking 3 weeks off at Christmas when OR needs to get the best possible coach and others are also looking for coaches surprise any of us? I thought Lussier, Mullins and Gray were all best friends so your comment is a shock to me. Ole Dad
  12. There is apparently a deal in the works (or done) accordingy to people I am talking to. (Mullins must not be knowledgeable of the goings on with Bailey and Green) If Mike Mullins hasn't even looked at the applications as you say then he should be fired also. He is a main part of the problem with OR football anyway. To allow Stevens to run OR football into the ground while he sat by and watched and did nothing, and now he tells people (your sources) he took a 3 week break for the holidays and didn't even look at an application is in itself grounds for termination. There are 500 people on here more qualified to evaluate and interview than Mullins that would have been focused on this from day one and not home fattening up on turkey. That was what was wrong with the program for the last 4 years, no committment, no urgency, and unqualified leadership. Mullins is a big part of the problem, not the solution. Ole Dad
  13. Right, so when Stevens knew he was fired, I mean resigned, and told the Oak Ridger that all was well and the rumor was false then he was waiting for his 15 minutes of fame? I'll just wait for you to fill everyone in on whats REALLY happening. Ole Dad Blade, About what? Thanks, Ole Dad
  14. The coach is a done deal. Not from OR. Ron had no chance. Ole Dad
  15. That post is about stupid. Are all people with swmming pools that drive SUV's rich? To put this in perspective, if you work for IBM and Apple has an opening for lots more money do you listen? What if it's for the same money but is a real challenge? Do you talk to them? Well this is a coaching job, not the job as The Pope. These guys are just like you and I, they need to look out for their family and future. Where is the loyalty from schools also is the question I ask? Ole Dad
  16. I've got a wilder idea. Carringer actually looks for a GREAT coach, like maybe in Florida and resurrects the program. St Thomas Aquinas (the number 1 team in the nation) played an undefeated and nationally ranked Lakeland for the State Championship of Florida 5A last night. St Thomas beat undefeated and top 10 in the nation Lakeland 56-7. Sounds like a coach I would want to speak with. Heck, the Lakeland coach, Pahokee, Plant City or 20 others that win state championships often and 14 games annually would be a great place to start interviewing. Ole Dad
  17. I heard Carringer offered the job to Ron Gray.......Gray accepted and was named head coach....then he resigned.......oh wait....that was a couple of other times. Ole Dad
  18. I think Randall Sharp is the frontrunner. Ole Dad
  19. Stevens is a Hack! He couldn't coach a good flag football team.I would say that 90% of the posters on here could beat him head to head on a blind draw of talent.
  20. Why would the winner go to play in Oak Ridge? Ole Dad
  21. Stanton Stevens needs to return there ASAP and get the discipline back into that school and program. He will lead by example. Ole Dad
  22. Come on down to Florida and play Pahokee. They only have 450 students in 4 grades and are a 2B team in Florida. Would be interesting. Only have 11 kids this year getting D1 scholarships. Had 9 last year, but their junior class is the real deal. No more slacker years for them in the near future. Ole Dad If SS is still coaching OR then Maryville will win by 60. It will be a Billy Jack game.
  23. The Oak Ridge punter kicked for more yards in 2008 than the offense gained for the season.
  24. Yeah, I guess he could't live up to the standard of behavior that SS has set. He doesn't pull knives on the players, curse out the players, fight with opposing coaches, get his team thrown out of the Nike camps, lack financial integrity and the list goes on. As I have said, the standard of education at ORHS since Bailey arrived has dropped significantly. And there are many facts to back up that statement as well. Ole Dad
