  1. Westview Fayette Ware Jackson Southside Lexington
  2. Dyersburg should make it. The Trojans will be the 4 seed in the disctrict tourney, and look to host Milan in the opening round. They split with the bulldogs in the regualr season, with the loss coming in overtime. South Gibson is the 3 seed, but I haven't been impressed with their efforts against Dyersburg at least. I think 13AA will beWV, OCC, Dburg, SG-- in that order. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the only team left standing after the region opening round from 13AA is the district champion. Hope I'm wrong.
  3. If Dyersburg beats Crockett Friday night, Dburg takes the 2 seed and gets a first round bye.
  4. I pretty much only follow AA in West TN, but here's my opinion: AA | Myah Taylor from Dyersburg is a baller. She was 9-16 from THREE point range in a game last Saturday where she scored 44 points. Averaging nearly a double-double at 23+ points & 9+ rebounds, she has earned a scholarship to play at UTM. She has 2 triple doubles and numerous double-doubles to go along with setting multiple school records including most 3 pointers in a season and most 3 pointers in a game this season. She is nearing the 2,000 point mark for her career. (I know GC said some of this, but I wanted to reiterate.)
  5. Should be a great environment. Last night's crowd was great, so Friday should be jumping. Doesn't get better than Dyersburg vs Westview.
  6. I will start by saying that I vaule your opinion, GC. You are obviously very knowledgable about things in our neck of the woods and basketball in general. I agree with your post for the most part. First, Myah does carry the team. She is irreplaceable. She is our Senior leader who can drop 30-40 if teams don't prepare appropriately, and even when they do, she's still good for about 25. Dyersburg is, however, young. Two other seniors are on the roster--only 1 of which sees substantial playing time-- Senior PG Kim Tate. The unsung hero and the best ball handler in the district, maybe in West TN in my opinion. Although she might not score the points that Tasia does at Westview, she--like Myah-- is key to the success of the Lady Trojans. Last Saturday, Myah dropped 44 points. Two days later at Crockett County she got in early foul trouble, was guarded well, and didn't play much of the 2nd and 3rd periods. How did Dyersburg respond? Junior Shakaila Smith scored 15, nearly topping Myah's 17. The bench also got in on the action with key minutes, accounting for 20+ points. That type of total team effort handed Crockett their worst loss of the season when Myah definitely wasn't at her best. That was the type of outing that Dyersburg needed to show. (And shooting 55% from 3 didn't hurt.) Does Dyersburg deserve to be ranked in the top 5 with their sub-par, non-district schedule and close games against some mediocre teams? Probalby not, but they are starting to prove that although Myah is the undisputed team MVP, they CAN win against a quality opponent when she is having a down night. The big question is: when and if that happens again, can the team show that same resolve and toughness it showed against Crockett. Side-note: I would love, love to see Dyersburg and Westview both back in Mufreesboro and an Elizabethon slip up somewhere along the way. One can only hope.
  7. About time the best in the business joined us here on the interwebs! Myah has come up in multiple threads recently--especially since her 44 point performance Saturday. She should definitely be in the running. Tonight was a great, team win over a talented Crockett County squad by Dyersburg. Seems like this team might be peaking at just the right time---down the stretch. The Westview game next week should be a doozy.
  8. Should be one heck of a Region tournament, and as I've said before, ANY team could end up winning the 13AA tournament. If Myah Taylor brings it against Crockett and Obion this week like she did against Liberty last night (44 points, school record 9 three-pointers), the stage should be set for a huge Part II showdown between Dyersburg and Westview next week.
  9. Speaking of the tournament, where are the 13AA and 14AA tournaments & Region 7 tournaments this year?
  10. I have not seen Crockett or South Gibson play this year, but after tonight, I think that 13AA is anyone's to take. Milan upset Obion (after taking Dyersburg to OT last week), South Gibson played Crockett close, and Westview beat Dyersburg.
  11. Westview wins 44-37. As good as Dyersburg's guard play is, the freshman point guard mentioned in a previous post simply couldn't be stopped. Sloppy game. A lot of turnovers and missed uncontested shots by both teams, but Dyersburg's unfortunately came down the stretch.
  12. Should be a great game. Lady Trojans come in at 16-1 and ranked #3 in the latest AP poll. Westview comes in at 13-7, but will probably be one of two teams (Crockett Co.) that can challenge Dyerburg for the district title. I think the Lady Chargers have played a much more difficult schedule thus far. Two of Westview's loses are to KY teams, 2 loses to AAA #5 Dyer Co., 1 loss is to A #3 Gibson County, 1 loss is to AA #6 Jackson Southside, and 1 loss to Haywood (the only team to beat Dyersburg so far.) Didn't Westview lose a lot to graduation? Who are their impact players?
  13. Great game. I wish the best to Trezevant as they now represent West TN. I must say that I was very disapointed in the CC crowd. Had twice as many for the Dyersburg game in Alamo early in the season.
  14. I agree with your point. However, Mr. Jones will be the best back on the field (just not Johnny.) #9 for Trezevant, Jamal Jones, is the fastest back I have seen in quite some time. It will be very difficult for Johnny to break through to the second level of the Bear's defense. Trezevant 33 Crockett County 16
  15. I've only missed a handfull of Dyersburg games in 20 years. The traveling Trojans of the past few years have been some of the largest crowds. Expect several hundred to make the trip to Memphis.
