  1. Must be that SP math that they taught you.... 523 is definitely not "more than double the size".... but that's OK... we all understand...
  2. Do you rely on Google for everything? You probably get all your facts fromWikipedia also... Lol. 5 high schools in Marion County.
  3. Depends on where you are looking them up. I like football as much as the next guy but football isn't the only thing in life.
  4. He didn't say that play football. He said the 3 high schools in Marion County and there are definitely 4 schools. Actually, there are now 5 high schools in Marion County....
  5. So what would it take for you to say that Bryant has done an acceptable job this year? 1st round win? Qtr finals? Semis? Would anything satisfy you at this point? And, BTW... It ain't no secret so if you are as close to the school as you claim you already know.
  6. To respond to Geno's assessment that there will be 10,000 people at this game... There was a time when you could say that and be slightly underestimating the crowd. However, those days are long gone for both teams. Attendance for both teams is running less at both schools than back in the 90's. I think a fair estimate for this gate will be 3,000-5,000. Just my opinion.
  7. I hope you aren't thinking that ALL you have to do to win is stop Zeman... Marion is not a one-trick pony... Neither is SP... I think more than in the last few years, the parity between the two schools will create a great game that won't be decided until the 4th qtr... just my opinion.
  8. Obviously y'all need me... I don't post anything for 24 hours and this thread falls all to way to the second page... I can assure you that I can back up any statement that I have made on this or any other thread. You just need to do your homework instead of crying on a message board all the time. The facts are there, staring you in the face, if you have any type of connection with GCHS... But, hey, football is more important than anything else school related so let's just keep our focus there!.. BTW.. your coach is going to the playoffs...
  9. Legit... I saw your post earlier but couldn't respond. I'll definitely be at the game. Look me up. I ain't hard to find.
  10. You are the one that is incorrect... It was called Pryor Institute until 1910 when it was donated by the Church to the County Commission to become a public school for the citizens of Marion County, hence the name. This was before SPHS and WHS existed.
  11. I'm never sure why you post at all but I don't question you.
  12. Investigate for yourself... In between your coach bashing sessions.
  13. I'm just saying you've got bigger fish to fry in GC than worrying about who is or isn't coaching an athletic team. Again, if you are as close to the school as you pretend you know exactly what I'm talking about.
  14. Good post OP... good to hear about determined kids giving it their all... so many today would give up and find much worse things to occupy their time.
  15. If y'all really are from GC and you are as close to the school as you claim, I don't have to tell you anything because you already know. 'Nuff said.
  16. I heard some things tonight about GCHS that tells me that football problems should be the least of your worries. Maybe Opie is right and changes need to be made... But I'd start with Administration first.
  17. But... They did get the W... Congrats.
  18. Here we go.... A moderator's worst nightmare.... Marion vs South Pitt... I'm sure this thread won't be too many pages long by Friday night!!
  19. For the record, the better team won that Tennessee vs South Carolina game. Just setting the record straight.
  20. That will happen soon enough.... But it won't be as nice as Opie, Beav and Dillard has been on this Bryant thread.
  21. Again, I never said I was a great coach or even a good coach. Not sure how this turned in to a MC basketball thread simply because I asked Opie to explain why all losses are the coaches fault and all wins are credited to the players. Let's get it back on topic. If you are simply talking about how the coach addresses the media, I wholeheartedly agree. I was asked one time how my team was doing and my answer was the boys are 7-0 but I'm 0-4, and I left it at that.
  22. My expectations for my team this year is for my guys to work hard, represent our ourselves/team/school/community in a positive manner, stay on top of their academics, and execute our gameplans to the best of their ability. Our goals are too numerous to list here. We have individual goals and team goals and they are multi-tiered meaning that when we reach one another one automatically kicks in. For example, our first team goal is to win the first Qtr of the first ballgame in Nov 12... After that it will be the fist half of the game, then don't have a let down coming out of the locker room for 3rd qtr, and finally win that first ballgame. So as a team we have four goals that will have been targeted during the first game. We'll evaluate, watch game film, scout next opponent, develop a new gameplan and start the process all over again.... For me personally, I have some team goals that I'm going to be working toward and those are repeat as District Champions, win Region for first time in school history, host Sectional game for first time in school history, and play in Murfreesboro at State Tournament for first time in school history. However, none of those goals will be possible if we don't meet the numerous team and individual goals that we have.
  23. Never said I went into a game not trying to win... I always try to find a game plan that gives my guys a chance to win...
  24. Three years ago in a Christmas Tournament at Bledsoe Co we were playing Rhea Co... They had handily beaten us earlier in the season. We took the air out of the ball to keep from getting into a running game with them... The score at halftime was 9-6. We ended up losing by two with one of our best shooters rimming out a 3 pt shot at the buzzer. Last year we were playing Bledsoe Co on their senior night... They had beaten us three times (summer camps and regular season) by an average of 25 points each time because they were physically better than us... each time we tried different game plans to see what would work against that type of talent. The last time we played them we took the air out of the ball again and it was a 10 point game going into the fourth qtr... we still lost the game but we at least had a change late to win... Again, I'm not a great coach... not even a good coach... but we find success somehow..
