I have a question for Canes. With the population of the Memphis metro area, as well as the surrounding good-sized towns, why has the Lobos organization not joined the ECNL program? I would think they would have the talent and staff to compete with those teams. Although my daughter is an average talent at best, I always challenge her to play against better players and teams to try and improve herself. With the level of players in West Tennessee, it would seem a natural segue for the Lobos to join the ECNL group.

Working on it. Does it have to be at DCA or would he consider Cookeville/Crossville?

The game lived up to its billing with the two teams battling to a 2-2 result. TSC head's off to Nationals as the champion of this ECNL league. Hats off to the girls on both teams as the heat was impressive causing the game to be halted for heat breaks a couple of times.

I do not know if it is due to increased local and national media attention or the teams' desire to accommodate Booger's scheduled appearance, but game time has been moved from 10 am to 1 pm.

On June 2 at 10:00 am CST, a collection on Tennessee high school girls will be playing for the first ECNL championship in Tennessee history at the Williamson County Soccer Complex. If good high school age level soccer is what you like, it will not get better than this. Most of the players on both teams are going from high school to D1 colleges in a year or two.

That is true commitment. Looking back, high school (and in many cases, high school soccer) is so Mickey Mouse, but for a young lady to give up the last part of her senior year for soccer is impressive. I wish those four well.

I wonder if any of his (or other college) signers enroll early to get a jump. In speaking to one father, his daughter is working towards graduating early so she may be in school for the spring semester.

Good luck to UTC! I will probably be pulling what's left of my hair out trying to finish taxes so attending is not likely. Do you have their spring schedule?

It is a little different in Chattanooga where a new club, Lookout FC, formed recently further dilluting the talent pool. CFCA is still the top dog, but the more clubs there are, locally and ECNL, the less likely it is there will be a strong enough foundation to compete with the Lobos at the state level.

Memphis, Are others in Memphis leaving the Lobos for BUSA and TSC's ECNL? It does seem the best way to give the girls an early look at college level soccer. UTC got at least 3 ECNL players in the 2018 class and has at least 4 committed for the 2019 class. It certainly should make a difference.

That is a legitimate concern in Chattanooga. Ultimately, the best of the best leave for ECNL and the remaining talent level is more D2. This is only the first year of ECNL for Nashville and Knoxville. As time goes by, the pull to these higher level, greater collegiate exposed programs will be tough to ignore by players pushing for scholarships..

I don't but I'll try to find out. The problem in Chattanooga for the better players is the pull of ECNL up the road in Nashville and Knoxville. It's going to only be more challenging as time goes by and they see the level of soccer those girls are playing.

First, 5'8" is not short. If your daughter has scoring skills, she will likely excel in college. The main reason I have noted UTC's size is because in watching college soccer, the play is more physical than high school/club as well as obviously being more skilled. It seems as one's daughter progresses up the club and school ranks the successful players tend to have good physicality to complement their skills.

Houston had an outstanding year in soccer so I am curious as to what colleges their seniors signed with.

In looking at his roster, signees, and 2019 commitments, he is focusing on size and pace. I am not sure about the Lobo, but the middle and east Tennessee players are between 5'8" and 6'. If nothing else, this will allow the Mocs to match up from a physical standpoint with ACC and SEC caliber teams.

Looks like one of UTC's big gets in the 2018 class is a keeper, Aston Shields, out of West Tennessee. Coach McKinney has built another strong foundation for his team with a wide range of players.

Players, It appears UTC has picked up yet another high school superstar for their 2018 class. Coach McKinney certainly seems to be building momentum.

Don't TSSAA rules prohibit any official workouts?

A quick ecperience with newspapers. If you have any contacts with your local paper, see if you can become a guest reporter and submit game articles. I did this year's ago and they edited and printed about half under local sports. I found the key was to be completely neutral and minimize any inflammatory statements.

I have heard quite a bit about the one and done transferring of many players when they get to college. Neither many high school nor club coaches do a good enough job in explaining to their players how different and important college and one's college choice is. It would be interesting to see the percentage of commitments who ultimately graduate from their college of choice. I have heard figures in the 25-30% range.

How many 2019s have committed? Typically, how many does a D1 school take with each class?

I did not realize coach McKinney took his last job, Cumberland College, to national championship appearances until I looked at his bio. With the talent he has recruited into UTC, 2018 should be the year he makes a move in the SoCon. The 2 girls from SC are supposed to be talented. If the 2019 class has talent in it, his roster and game results should reflect it.

I watched a UTC game with the Arnold girl. She was fast and appeared to be very tall as is the girl from Canada. Is that the stance the UTC coaching staff is taking in their recruitment?
